So,my dad died yesterday and I found this on his computer desk. He's always been an avid doodler but I've never seen the numbers and ". x" patterns before.
Here's a close up. There are only two known pages with these markings. They are his most recent/last doodles as far as I can tell.
Another close up. He played solitaire a lot. The only thing I can think of is that it was something to do with that? Obviously I can't ask him (which fucking sucks). I knew there would be questions that would go unanswered but I never thought it would about a potential code or that I would come across one so soon.
The other doodle I found with the mystery code. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sorry for your loss. I discovered so many questions I never realized I had, only after my grandma passed. I hope you find some answers.

A lot of cryptography revolves around patterns. I attempted to find one here. The best you could hope for is a complex substitution cipher.

Thank you for the time you invested and tip! Is the pattern specific to each paper or would you like more examples to decipher the pattern?

Judging how some are crossed out and others end with ->, I'm guessing they are scratch work for something and the doodles grew around them.

Right. But, what could he have been taking notes about?Music? It had to have been something on his desk that didn't require full attention

That's what I do with the notes I take down while working. Hides clients socials better than just scoring until they can be shreaded
