Crouch End is a lovely village in north London that we haven't spent much time in. But it seems to be full of friendly people!

So lovely, absolutely adore the sheer joy and positivity that you and Siggy spread and how easily you can make someone's day just by rolling by!

Queen Sigrid feeling beneficent today, withholding the [HISS] from her dog-owning subject.

All I can think of when I see Crouch End is the Stephen King short story…

Apparently there's a tv episode of it that is well regarded, I'm watching it right now lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkTUvtSsOo4

Doesn't look too cold there. You both have matching sweaters! Sigrid meowed to let you know it's okay to give her a card. Sweet!

Yeah it's warmed up a bit, but still raining more often than not (as it is today).

Stephen King wrote a great horror short story about the place. Really creepy.

Those were for sale outside of a shop, didn't think that would be appropriate. 😂

I am picturing her being all Cartman like I DO WHAT I WANT.

She really is such a a special cat.

Yeap, 28th most popular baby girl's name in Sweden in 2024, 38th in Norway. But Sigrid is the MOST popular girl's name in Mark's municipality outside Gothenburg (only four babies tho..).

Supposedly I have a distant aunt buried at the Reinli stave church but I couldn't find the grave when I visited.

Sigrid Olsdatter, born in 1950 in Reinli, Norway, was my 3rd great-grandmother. My great-grandfather lived on the family farm about 7 km from there before moving to the US. I visited the farm a few years ago and tracked down the family that remained in Norway... the farm is abandoned but owned by my cousin.

I meant 1850.

Ah thanks. So cool! And heh, only about 50 km from my family cottage (now sold) up on the mountains. I visited as a kid. Sheep poo everywhere.

Coincidentally the family farm is called Sveriplassen - Swede's place - because it was built by a Swedish guy who landed there after the 1814 war. Not sure how it passed over to my family.

Anyone ever give you a hard time about your selfie stick/poles

Other than the standard abuse on Twitter, nope never! I try to be carefully not to bump people with it etc.

good

I'm sorry to hear about the abuse from that cesspool.

We left there a while ago, along with Reddit and more recently Bluesky. You kind of have to expect these sorts of things, but it feels like negativity and hatred have been taking over the internet more and more recently.

Combine that with the fact that most people hurling abuse at me are probably half my age, it feels like time to step back from public conversations a bit more.

Sean of the dead ws filmed around crouch end down the end with the cinema and the co-op petrol station, the town hall used to host the UK twin peaks festival and there's loads of decent shops, flashback records, and ginger and mint(?) If it's still there, had a great range of vegan croissants including a black charcoal one, very nice, shame its got archway one end and turnpike Lane at the other.

Nice one!, on the sameish theme the Spaced house, down the road a little from Tufnell Park Station, Brecknock rd, I used to live round the corner years ago

Never saw Spaced! Although it's been on my British-integration todo list for awhile.

Living in Belsize Park obviously there's a ton of movie and film locations here. I don't know how much of our stuff you've seen, but Helena Bonham Carter is next door and loves Sigrid, I seem to bump into David Mitchell every couple months (not met Sigrid yet though) and infamously Sigrid hissed at Harry Styles...

I used to work in cass art, saw Helena often in the soho and hampstead branches, she's such a lovely lady, met David Mitchell down by chancery Lane when I worked on a chocolate shop down there, I worked on Oxford Street when I first came to London and it was celebs daily, nowadays I'm out of the loop, I think last one i saw was Chris Martin in a park near Camden, not spotted you yet!
