I found out about it from our local news page.
I have a lot of old consoles still gathering dust that may not have all their cables. But I think I would rather sell/trade/give them to our local retro gaming store.

Well, consoles are generally considered retro by the community at-large once they're 20 years old. The closest thing we have to a governing body for this rule is a long-running Japanese variety show called GameCenter CX that has been around since 2003. They focus on retro gaming and use that rule of thumb. If we go by that, the 360 is retro, PS3 will be in less than a year, and Wii U will be in 2032. probably just didn't proofread this well enough before releasing it and chose their words poorly. I'd guess they mean the consoles are "now officially retro consoles in our company's infrastructure." Granted, they do also have enough hubris to consider themselves the highest authority in gaming so I'm not saying it's impossible or even improbably that they think they're in charge of the distinction. I just think it's less likely than them simply being idiots.

Yeah, they've tried their hardest to sell anything that isn't games and pretend they're still the end-all be-all when it comes to video games. I'm still pissed off that they bought ThinkGeek, cannibalized it into their stores and their own website, and cut out like 90% of the merchandise. If not for the fact that they don't have a national competitor in the used game market in the US, they would have died off years ago instead of surviving on life support.
