Hey folks! For those of you who didn't see my earlier posts (eg, https://imgur.com/gallery/bttsbyb), I'm the creator of PinchOfWisdom - a weekly newsletter for the curious mind. In short, each week I send out a personalized email with one bit of content for each topic you're interested in (might be a podcast, an article, a video, etc).

It's all free, no adverts, and all the content is available for free (so no Netflix films or anything).

I've had some awesome reception from the Imgur community and I promised to try and post the Pinch each week to Imgur too. Unfortunately I haven't had time to post for the last two weeks (although everyone who signed up will have received them) so I wanted to post this week's Pinch on here again so we can all discover something new about the world.

If you'd like to join the club (again, free, no adverts - I'm covering the costs myself) then please feel free over at https://pinchofwisdom.com - just pick the topics you're interested in and you'll get a personalized email each week.

But without further ado, let's check out the content from this week!

In times of trouble, ancient Egypt often looked to its female rulers to restore and maintain power. From Hatshepsut to Cleopatra, women ruled, and ruled well, along the Nile. These strong leaders came to power, helped drive out the invaders, and gave birth to a new, stronger dynasty.

*** I NEED YOUR HELP ***
That's all, folks! I really hope you enjoy the content. It really means the world hearing the great feedback from everyone so thank you again for everyone's kind words, tips, advice, etc. As I said at the start, I'll try and post these to Imgur when I can but won't be able to make every week. If you want to stay up to date, you can join the newsletter over at https://pinchofwisdom.com. If that isn't for you, I totally understand, and I'll try and share the content here as often as I can too! :)

Curating this content takes a decent amount of time so if anyone has any recommendations for podcasts, videos, or articles then PLEASE post them below or PM me. My only requirement is that they are free and legal - I don't want anyone to be excluded from the search for knowledge!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Signed up! Also, have you considered adding linguistic science to the listed categories? There is plenty of fascinating material.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oooh, interesting thought. I've been mainly trying to keep it simple (8 topics which cover roughly most areas) but I'll be sure to think

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

about this further and see if there are other areas I can add value. Thanks so much for your support!

Skeptics Guide to the Universe is my favorite podcast. Funny, and very intelligent.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ooooh, I haven't heard of this - I'll be sure to add it to the list and check it out soon. Any specific episodes you'd recommend?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's been going weekly since 2005 so it's hard to recommend just one! Best bet would be to just grab the latest and see what you think :)

Didn't Cleoptra's reign lead to the end of the Egyptian dynasty and Egypt's decline?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man those yellow crazy ants sure do mess up the environment on a global scale, and ruin the delicate ecosystems their exposed to...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, absolutely crazy how much ecological damage "invasive species" can do to an environment!

Joe Rogan: “Is this true, Jamie pull that shit up”

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only podcast I need is joe rogan: "are you depressed? Why dont you exercise regularly, and take alpha brain"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

TJRE is due to be featured on a Pinch very soon actually, one of my favorite episodes :)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I for one can't wait til autonomous vehicles are perfected and mandatory. You all drive like dual personality undead zombies with epilepsy

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm very hyped for autonomous vehicles, but I think perfection and mandate are quite a long way off from where we are now...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We don’t need perfection, we’ll never achieve perfection. We just need to be significantly better than the average human driver

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I feel like for it to be *mandated*, we'll have to be quite a lot significantly better than an average driver though

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As I said, significantly.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a suggestion; a podcast End of the World by Josh Clark. He explores the existential risk faced by humanity and explores topics 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 the Fermi Paradox and great filter.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ooooooh. I love Josh Clark, so I'll definitely add this to the to-listen-to list!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awesome! Love your work by the way!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is awesome OP! I'm signing up. I'd love to see some stuff about renewable energy generation developing countries...

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Just realised that's not much help without a link though or anything.. sorry

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'll look around the topic and see if I can find something decent to feature in that area! :) Thanks for the love <3

Look at Dan Carlin's hardcore history podcast for history (obviously) good information if you have the time to listen through all of it!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I believe I've featured Hardcore History in a previous Pinch, but thanks so much for the recommendation! Will make sure to keep it in the

Loved your previous newsletters so far @op. Quick question, do you and your team go through these stories and select them manually?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If so then it’s a heck of a challenge. Loving it!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do indeed go through everything and find all the content myself :) Really glad you're enjoying the newsletter, spread the word! :)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Definitely! P.S. I love the name of the website more than anything else. It’s so creative and actually conveys the meaning so well.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How did you come up with the name @op??

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks so much :) Honestly, I spent several hours brainstorming around the concept to try and figure out a name which I liked aha! So

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anybody listen to Timesuck with Dan Cummins?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't heard that, I'll add it to the list! Are there any specific episodes you'd recommend? Thanks so much man!!

Post every day

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would really love to, unfortunately I don't earn anything from this and something has to pay the bills, though! :(

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What a generous idea. I’m sure you know of both of these, but I learn a lot from podcasts such as Radiolab and How Stuff works.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I do indeed but every time I get recommended something I add a little count to the list to gauge their popularity so every recommendation

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

really genuinely helps! Thanks so much for your input my man :)

I've actually featured AI pretty heavily in the past weeks. This article was from two weeks ago (iirc) and definitely worth a read if

AI interests you, especially if you're concerned about the impact on the world, but you don't have an academic background in AI -->

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, to be honest, AI scares me as much or more so than any other threat to humanity. And considering my academic background is in
