As long as it's got a shot of Bourbon in it I don't care how much heavy cream it's made with...

Once as a kid i was in private day care and i was served cocoa. I was so exited to get surprise treat until i took my first sip, it was made in water. I will never forget this betrayal and its over 40years ago. Worst thing ever

#1 I used to make my hot chocolate with a mug full of cream. Neither of you are even close to me. To younger me. To younger, fatter me. To younger, fatter, and much, much happier me.

Simple choice for me
Hot chocolate with milk = diarrhea
Hot chocolate with water = no diarrhea

I've only ever had Hot chocolate made with water. Can't really imagine what it made with milk would taste like

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better. Creamier. Fuller, if that makes sense. If you happen to be a coffee drinker and have a milk steamer at home, it's even better if you make it that way because it gets a bit of airiness to it.

I disliked hot chocolate growing up because we made it with water and it was bland, but recently started making it with milk and it's my go-to relaxing drink now.

Lol you convinced me! I just ordered a milk steamer. I can't wait.

I'm bourbon with frothy milk and chocolate...and homemade smoked cheese. All are welcome here.

I do not give two fucks what other people drink. That kind of snobbery is so puerile. I save those emotions for people who consume fake maple syrup. How fucking dare they.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

so, what I'm hearing, #1, is that you think I'm hot!

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THIS IS SO FUCKING WHOLESOME!

Nutella? Seriously? There are MUCH better alternatives to that sugary stuff ...

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ok, but number 8 needs to be salted caramel or you're doing it wrong.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's hot chocolate, I'll have mostly, boiled water & some, cold milk. If it's cocoa, I'll also add sugar. I'll take marshmallows if they're available, but I don't buy them myself.

Just classic milk and chocolate for me thanks.

Another simple way to alter it if you're feeling fancy, is if you have special coffee creamer you can put some of that in. Kind of a neat thing to experiment with now and then

Eggnog hot chocolate is great!

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

use Lactaid , we are not the same

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Soy milk chocolate. Bonus is that soy milk is cheaper than lactose-free milk and keeps longer. The chocolate masks the soy taste. Lactaid and such works, but it's not perfect. Too much dairy products and the cramps will overpower any amount of lactase caplets.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm lactose intolerant. It's hard to find cocoa mix that doesn't have dairy :(

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Friend of mine swears by "Beck's Broth" for this.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure where you are but in the UK there is Vegan Galaxy which is a chocolaty powder can make hot ir cold chovolate its not bad. Maybe found at Britsh Shop i have seen it in Canada.

Thanks for all the suggestions you beautiful people

You can use cocoa powder to make hot cocoa. If you can tolerate Hypolactose (ultrapasteurized) milk, you can blend it in. Alternatively, combine one of the non-dairy (soy or nut) milks.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you really that sensitive? Usually chocolate barely has any lactose in it I'm also lactose intolerant and I've never hesitated to consume chocolate products (assuming they are not mixed with stuff like cream).

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not the chocolate that's the problem. Milk powder is usually added to the mixes. Makes my stomach pretty unhappy these days. When I was younger I was totally fine tho.

~1 pint hot milk of choice, 0.5-1 tablespoon straight cocoa powder, sugar of choice to taste (honey, agave, brown sugar, powdered, all have slightly different flavors). The cocoa won't stay perfectly in solution, so you may need to re-stir before sipping, but IMHO it's cheaper and yummier than prepared mixes with preservatives and hydrogenated nonsense. There are often workarounds for those of us whose digestive systems are jerks :)
