If by now you're still on Twitter you're supporting it and in doing so supporting him

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, we already know that he caved to Turkey for threatening the same, so I imagine he's gonna cave here as well.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

First time I have heard of Tribel. I hope something finally replaced twitter

How Twitter became a haven for climate misinformation

What hit me hardest: Bravely standing up to billionaire. -subject, a fucking continent of countries.

It’s mind-boggling how far right Twitter has shifted. You’d think it would be bad for business.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is. He's lost major advertisers.

"What are you gonna do, ban me from Europe?" - man who was banned from Europe

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is tribel any good?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The tweet is a bit misleading. Our minister has no power to ban Twitter from the EU. He is merely stating that twitter "would be banned from the EU if it refused to follow the incoming European Digital Services Act, which goes into effect throughout the EU at the end of August." (from https://www.politico.eu/article/banned-france-digital-minister-jean-noel-barrot-threatens-twitter-block-follow-eu-rules/ )

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Yup. It should be "threaten to ENFORCE the law" not ban Twitter because he himself doesnt like this. The Law already exists to protect EU citizens data, so this would just be enforcing that law.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so... an advertisement.

Go EU!!! - Few days ago: Meta fined a record $1.3 billion over EU user data transfers to the U.S. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/22/meta-fined-record-1point3-billion-over-eu-user-data-transfers-to-the-us-.html

Do that fine level...but like... for EACH byte of data transferred.

Musk should do like the Brexiters and just write his disinformation on the side of a bus

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lmao at this being an advertisement for some other shitty unusable website.

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 7

Oh, sorry, should've said "shitty unusable app".

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

And it's named "Tribe" with an L at the end. How incredibly lame.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Tribe + L + ratio

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please, EU. Ban it. Do it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lies. Regular people call those lies.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Lies are not the same as disinformation. "I'd love to attend your daughter's piano recital" is a lie. The purpose is shallow deception because the truth is awkward. "You can't afford rent because jews and immigrants are stealing your money" is disinformation. The purpose is to cause people to believe incorrect information to make bad decisions in order to further your own goals and agenda. It's poisoning a well instead of a cup.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh no, please don't ban it... fuck, yes

2 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 2

Won't be shedding any tears over it, but it should probably be noted that this was likely the goal all along. Despite the garbage and misinfo, Twitter has also been a very common and powerful tool for left wing/anti-authoritarian organizing in many parts of the world. Taking it over and sinking it benefits the right wing in many ways.

Muskrat thought that he could avoid it just by quitting the disinformation thing. Guess he didn't think they could do anything about him... Dude, there was a reason they started that thing in the first place... You really think you were going to get away from it...

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The dumber part is, that disinformation org is becoming law in Aug from what I understand. So while he can opt out now he's legally required to adhere to it in 2 months. So what was the point?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's a fool who thinks he can get out of things.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why'd you have to include the dumbshit's ugly-ass mug to the post? We all know what the dumbshit looks like.

Where we moving to? If this next election goes poorly we may have to make a run for it.

From the US? My husband is Canadian, so I get a free ticket. But truth be told, the EU has better chocolate so it's a toss up. Is Canada or EU going to give us asylum so we can get the hell out as quickly as possible?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s because we saw what happened to our unity when we let russian troll farms run amokk in the UK and other nations. The right wing wants an other world-war in the name of sovereignty, the rest of us don’t.

2 years ago | Likes 466 Dislikes 1

If the EU bans Twitter I really hope that the UK follows suit. Somehow I doubt it though.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Oligarchs don't want strong sovereign nations, they want a return to feudalism with them as the Barons. Doesn't have to be geographical.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Same with the Murdoc media empire. Why haven’t they gone after them ? But I’m glad they’re holding Twitter to task

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Russian troll farms are nothing compared to the damage that Murdoch's trash media empire does here in Oz.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Bold of you to assume the two are not firmly in bed

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I don't like to kink-shame.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Scottish Independence referendum and Brexit were targeted. Funny that the Russians managed to influence one but not the other in their favour. Weird shit went down during that time. Maybe we'll know some of the truth in another decade when the documents are declassified. Presuming there's actually a democracy left to release them.

2 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

Probably because they had to split resources between the two, and Brexit was the bigger fish.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure about that. Whilst I support Scottish Independence a non-interventionist Scotland with a token armed force, is a massive win for Russia. Tactically it's a big win to reduce military presence around Scotland and force relocation of nuclear assets. The international defence consequences are totally up for debate. Brexit whilst economically damaging isn't that advantageous from a military perspective.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Scottish independence was just a war of disinformation, just straight up lies. Still annoys me that one of the biggest draws the English gave to say no, was that we would no longer be a part of the EU, no doubt knowing their plans to jump ship anyways. They only want us in there for trade routes, oil and Nuke bases. Literally all the Uks nukes are kept in Scotland. So if Russia starts bombing, who's gonna get targeted because English are twats, oh that's right. Us.

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 6

I doubt Brexit was "the plan" by the whole UK Establishment, only part of it. You are absolutely correct about the position of Scotland. Oil, water, nukes, and renewables. If I ruled the UK, from a meta-game position I would absolutely hang on to Scotland at all costs. Russian interference was detected in both referenda, what actually happened behind the scenes after that... That's a question that can only be answered if someone blabs or when docs are declassified.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

You're slightly wrong about the Nuclear deterrent. There's always a sub out and armed and issued instructions. If nuclear armageddon comes it's going to make very little difference if the spare nukes are at the end of the Gairloch or Basingstoke. If you are up to your thighs in kerosine it doesn't matter where the lit match lands, the whole room is gone.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Matters to me when I'm living in the "gonna be instantly vaporised" blast area because of them.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trust me you want to be in the instantly vaporised zone. Not the assured death zone at a slightly longer timescale in agony zone. If strategic nuclear war happened, Scotland is gone. We're all gone apart from some people out on remote islands with an idea of how to live off the land. That said I'm not happy about the submergible Armageddon machine at the end of the Loch either.
