Irans military forces are impressive.
SwashbucklingForJustice
Mmm, multirole. Had that last night with dinner. Goes well with lotsabiscuit.

I know these jets from Ace Combat!
overmenonfire
so basically they need to build a museum instead of having an Air force!
Orktapus
This settles it, every country has C-130s
WhatzitTooya
Ah yeah, the F4 Phantom. Good old Air force diesel.
Ashrinkingdadbod
I'm impressed by how unimpressive that is.
Glode
No matter what country has it, the F-14 is still an amazing Aircraft
Zeales
The airforce of "Whatever- the-fuck-we-can-get-our-hands-on".
WhaaatDa
Sad collection of antiques, for a country that so threatens the West...
km9v
Those F4's were made in the 1960's & 1970's. Flying dinosaurs.
LittlePinkAnimal
#25 looks really weird
Zifrian12
IIRC they got those Migs from Iraq during the first gulf war. Iraq flew them to Iran so we wouldn't shoot them down and just said, thanks!
danderBandit
I thought the first one was gong to be the entire air force.
PUBspotter
The fact I might have to say "Hostile F-14" to a fighter is a mindfuck.
nicetomeetyouimdad
goddammit i want an F-4 so bad.
realAlBundy
Very cool! Waiting to see the Brazilian Air Force version in here..

I browsed you page and saw it.. very cool... Thanks
yotsuya
There were a few E3 AWACS on order at the time of the revolution, too. Nice to see a Phantom with a sharkmouth.
hedgewizard
More of an antique military aircraft museum than an actual air force.
NOINOON
Fakhour-90? I hardly know her!
RacecarRoadcar
Amateur.
OmenRider
That last photo shows around a third of their operational F-14s. They're shit maintainers, and an insult to the mighty F-14.
BuckeyeBTH
It's hard to maintain when you have to reverse engineer every single component you broke. They're scavanging airframes to keep some flying
CasualRex
Now I want to play F15 Strike Eagle again.
Jimmyb3121
I cannot express how much I dislike seeing the Tomcat in their arsenal
shammy63
why? you sold them to iran when you were all cool with them and had their shah as your puppet.
Jimmyb3121
Yup, I definitely did, back before I was born. Good call, Brosephus
SkypeOfCthulhu
And probably spare parts during the Reign of Reagan.
RacecarRoadcar
And also air bases to support them.
zma123456
Absolutely love the Douglas Phantom, and the Dessault Mirage.
GreatTeacherMichael
There used to be a stripped-down Phantom sitting in my school parking lot. I was really sad when they removed it.
Agentlebreeze
There's a phantom I walk by everyday to class. Also is an ace which is cool
GreatTeacherMichael
Oh? Vietnam war? There haven't been many aces recently, do you know the pilot's name?
Agentlebreeze
Can't. Richard Ritchie

Iran has a central bank that isn't owned by the Rothschilds. They'll be an enemy as long as that's true.
FlorbFnarb
Oh goody, a moron antisemite defending a murderous Middle Eastern terrorism-supporting theocracy developing nuclear weapons. Dolt.
HolUpSoYouSayin
You lost me at the antisemite part.
FlorbFnarb
Oh come on.
HolUpSoYouSayin
You're reaching.
HighFunctioningAlcoholic
If the Rothschilds were as powerful as you think they are, Iran's central bank would already be owned by the Rothschilds.
ThePerfectTemperatureForHeresy
Sigh...
HolUpSoYouSayin
Libya proved that rule. We were nice to Ghadaffi until he suggested a gold backed dinar, then he had to go ASAP.
HighFunctioningAlcoholic
We bombed them in the 80s... We've always hated him and wanted him out.
Bruhbeans
Sure
SecretAgentSuperBooger
+1 Iran is the last country in the world to be still flying the ever-sexy F-14 Tomcat.
zma123456
I got to see this in person at a local air museum. It is one freaking giant fighter jet.
OutlawAggie
And where did we put those behemoths? On boats that's where
WolfgangPacoSr
That's what I'm saying... they should be making the Top Gun sequal. Top Gun 2 Iranian Boogaloo.
Vectorman2
Goodness, gracious, great balls of Allah!
ScratchyFaceMcScruffyBeard
Under ratted comment right here folks.
TerriblePokemon
Iranian Boogaloo sounds like a really kinky sex move

That has got to be just absolute hell on the frame/chassis of that plane...
shammy63
that Mig29 up there can outperform the f22 in a dogfight, so can the f14

PrincessDonaldTrumpBANNED
Fun fact. They are working on a system to turn f15 and f16s I to drones
d0o0o0d
That'd be a waste. The F-15 outclasses a lot of stuff that's currently in service.
PrincessDonaldTrumpBANNED
They do a lot more impressive stuff without a pilot. They were being used as target drones, but recent advancements has the air force
PrincessDonaldTrumpBANNED
Interested into turning the retiring fleet into drones. Since it's fairly cheap to do and can provide support to the next generation
causality
Seen 'em at air shows. The damn things move more like UFOs than airplanes. We should be building more.
StillNotYouTube
For as much shit as the F-35 gets, the F-22 costs a lot more. Still my favorite.
robbiedarob
The 22 got all the same shit that the 35 is getting now. They cancelled the program, now everyone fucking loves the 22.
causality
F-35 costs 95/123 mil to the F-22's 150m. Not a big enough difference to justify only building 187 of them.
StillNotYouTube
The numbers I have seen are lower for the F-35. Although I'm sure they will be >150m by the time LM is done with them.
causality
Considering LM gets broken into by the Chinese every 6 fucking months we'll be able to pick up knockoffs for cheap on ebay before long.
GadenKerensky
Can we all just agree that the Raptor is perhaps the sexiest fighter jet in the world? Those engines.
IVerifyPeoplesUsernames
Nah. Su-37. And this is coming from an American.
CheeseIsNaturesFudge
Right?? I don't see enough love for these.
GadenKerensky
Eh, I still prefer the Raptor. It's just got that sharpness to it, that advanced look that'd be home in a sci-fi.
IVerifyPeoplesUsernames
True, but the Terminator has curves. Makes it look sleek and lethal.
therealch3
I know the F-14 is an outdated platform but god damn that is one sexy airframe
zma123456
Too bad it was a failed airplane.
RacecarRoadcar
What are you talking about? The F-14 is a very successful aircraft.
zma123456
No it isn't. It was a failed jet because pentagon was trying to shove it to all sectors of the Military.
RedIronCrown
No, no, you're thinking of the F-111. The F-14 is the result of the Navy rejecting it.
zma123456
Oh yes, yes, you are right. From the side the both look similar, thought it was this plane.
69satanist
I much prefer the phantoms.
grrr664
I like the little Fokker better
RacecarRoadcar
Little? They look like big Fokkers.

Hey OP, what the heck is conversion training?
RacecarRoadcar
Basically, the pilot is 'converting' himself to fly a specific combat aircraft The MiG-29, Mirage and other similar combat aircraft-
RacecarRoadcar
require their own set of special training to handle it efficiently in combat, which is achieved by a twin seat version of the same aircraft-
RacecarRoadcar
with an instructor seated in the back to properly instruct the pilot on how to handle the aircraft effectively to convert him/her into a-
RacecarRoadcar
capable pilot. Hence it's called conversion training.
tinmill
Thanks for explanation!
