“Other other-way”

We trust a person who can’t turn a handle the right way when directed to operate a $1m piece of equipment

She is left handed. same problem for me with every bottle or screw

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

What is that kaomoji?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Called a master blaster, triggers fail it manually throws a couple volts at the round and sets it off.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a facepalm.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that Major Difficulty?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Embarrassing AF but I've been there.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

I mean, the dude in the black gloves was giving the wrong instructions as well

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you mistime your FBT.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

like the German Minister of Defense, Christine Lambrecht. She also has no idea what she is doing....

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have not lived until you've been on a tank gunnery range, in a port-a-john during live fire.

Instant constipation cure

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to work as a civilian at an army training center. One time there was a lack of/ miscommunication with range ops and EOD >

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

did a detonation on the other side of a very small hill while I was looking at birds. It shook me... literally. Bout shit myself.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why do tanks have a remote?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Two main reasons are for 1) testing new gun tube or breech block assembly and 2) manual firing if power on the tank goes out.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cool. Is there a bluetooth option? :)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I got out in 2010 no. They were adding all kinds of smart tech on them when I left though, they just might by now.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is this thing some kind of special manual bypass in case the normal firing system fails? looks like a manual dynamite thing.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes There’s one mounted in the gunners station too. If all triggers fail (2 gunner 1 commander) you twist it. Creates a few volts of juice.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From what others have said, for testing the gun after maintenance. Because you don't want to do that while in a metal box with said gun.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*note they had small units like this for explosives, it was not just the Wile E Coyote plungers

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clockwise. YOUR MILITARY CLOCKWISE, AIRMAN!

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 7

Would you average recruit know which way was clockwise? Given they've only ever used digital clocks.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Christ I just shivered.. If you're a grown ass adult and dont know that..... that's a serious educational problem.. ?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nah, language that is tied to redundant technology. "hang up the phone" They were vertically on the wall and receivers kept in a cradle ...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then there's "turn on the light" - gas lights were open and closed with a screw tap.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Airman??? These are soldiers, not junior bird-persons

Any military people that can tell me what kind of tank this is? ……….. it looks like a good one…. Not like the horse shit out of Russia.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's an M1A2 in the 1st Armored Division. Doin' Tank stuff.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s an M1. Prob testing a new gun tube. Done remotely for safety using a manual trigger.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

M1 Abram

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Such a better tank than the T-14

Worst hand job ever. EVER

4 years ago | Likes 935 Dislikes 11

it resulted in a messy explosion, what more do you want?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna make it so dry for you

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

but to be fair the dude saying "twist it to the right" also doesn't know how to operate his equipment.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now you're just mashin' it.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

But she did get the job done.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

somebody out there…

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

you can hear a guy coming at the end so maybe not so bad

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They say if you feel like a change, use your non-dominant hand and think of a clumsy girl.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I don't think thinking of a clumsy girl would help me....

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

toddlers are pretty clumsy too

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

see you in Hell you filthy, disgusting, glorious bastard

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh dear god

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

occasionally ya gotta swap out a gun tube or recoil sys. Ect. When it’s done it needs to be tested. Needless to say, doing it inside 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

The tank can be no bueno. So you hook up a “master blaster” and fire the gun from outside the tank. Good times when that thump hits ya.

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I was artillery. 2 of my favorite memories: feeling that shockwave the first time I saw guns shoot. Seeing a "boom test" in a motor pool.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

When ever anyone says they were in art, all I picture is 5 guys going "WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY? HOW DO YOU SPELL TINNITUS?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Do we have female tankers now? That SGT firing the 120 with the plunger is a female, right?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes we do and they kick ass. This Sgt here is not a tanker. Prob support MOS that was at the range.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When did females start becoming 19kilos? Granted it's been a while, but never saw a female tanker 4 years with 1CD. Support in HHC, sure.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2016 For enlisted. Academy graduated their first 2016 that reported 2017. This is the class of 2020;

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is very cool. No reason they shouldn't be out there in 70 tons of steel. Thanks for the great news.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm kind of terrified by how that chassis reacts like a Cadillac hitting a minor pothole.

4 years ago | Likes 179 Dislikes 5

Why?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are generations of people who will not get that reference. But I was there, I saw it, I lived it. I know it's truth.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Recoil compensators and auto-leveling. Tech that keeps the barrel properly aimed even when moving. Cool shit. Expensive shit.

4 years ago | Likes 175 Dislikes 0

M1 fire control accounts for wind direction, wind speed, air temp, air pressure, round temp, round mass, tube temp, tube droop, - >

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

- > target speed, target range, magnetic field, curvature of the earth, rotation of the earth, and the local gravity field. Shit's no joke.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We do have a “stabe” system but there is no muzzle break. There’s a giant ass recoil spring / piston that handles recoil. Not even kidding ?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fuck that sounds scary to be around. I used a car spring compressor a few times and wasn't letting myself be around it more than necessary

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Scary and fun. But It’s all encased. You can Google M256 120mm recoil and there’s schematics. It’s a sweet design.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Here's a funky one for you, 76mm shoulder fired weapon: https://youtu.be/HyAl9qK3Rlg

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

also, 60 fucking metric ton of weight, frankly this is my first time seeing Abrams shoot from this close. Feking amazing how it's so stable

4 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

If you want more, check the "Gunner, HEAT, PC" game. Demo version available in their website and it's coming Steam Early Access soon(ish).

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

72.5 including munitions, fuel, provisions, and crew to be exact.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was about to post the same. M1 weighs 60-70 tons, so, yeh, it's not going to rock like a pickup truck that weighs 1/30 of that at 2.5 tons

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I would love to see how a tiger2 or a jagdtiger recoiled when fitting a live round

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cost of war aside, it is some breathtakingly amazing engineering that goes into these vehicles

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, and that's a tank that was originally designed in the 70's, it's had upgrades but imagine the tank you could build now!

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Imagine the tanks we’re developing now

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As far as I know the US is not actively developing any tank platforms since the Abrahams still hasn't been defeated

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've seen heavier dips when I sat down in someone's truck...

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I think thats more telling about you, honey.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, I'm fat. I'm not sure what else needs to be told from the above statement.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got into a smart car the other day. I'm 6'3 385lbs. That car handled it worse than that tank sending the rain.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Smart cars are like smart phones. Not.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe the name was "Swatch Mercedes Art", so Smart, not smart. That said, id be using an electric one rn if i could.
