Edit: some of you ask for sources. Look, at the moment there are no legally established facts. There will be investigations and someday there will be sources. This screenshot is one of the accounts and its reliablity is similar to many current reports. Google it, there is a plenty of testimonies and photos of what happened in Bucha. We can’t be sure of particular details, but I am 100% convinced that russian soldiers have killed civilians and have raped women in Ukraine.
Exact circumstances (the extent of atrocities) will be a matter of further investigations by official authorities.

Slava Ukraine!

you thought that humans werent horrible animals?

Sources?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Russia OUT of the UN NOW!!! Out of the G20!!!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

War crimes need to be recognized and reacted to with force immediately, not decades later.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is anyone surprised that the Russian Army is raping people? **Gestures broadly at the history of the Russian Army**

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And like lot of the stuff happening there - check your source, at least three times. also, #fuckputin

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Russia can never belong to the civilized world again. We must isolate them forever.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

War is a hell of a drug.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not only women, I'm afraid. Raping men/boys is a typical power move in war

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The combination of war and social media is rapidly killing off my mental health. Starting to look for the exit again.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Reach out to people. Bad times are temporary, it will pass, you’ll see

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I said it last month: those Wagner people don't care, they destroy everything. To demoralize. Now it just creates anger and makes them war c

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_occupation_of_Germany#Soviet_troops I was hoping they’d have moved past this. Nope.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

When the dust settles and the dust clears it will be interesting to see if Putin winds up being tried in the Hague

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And there will be people who will say it's fake, like the Holocaust deniers. Fwar, fsociety, fPutin.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

My Hungarian grandparents lived under soviet Russia when they were young. Rape, murder, theft by the occupying soviet forces was very common

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And none of the perpetrators were ever punished.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is a picture of a dead naked tied-up THREE-YEAR-OLD with her dead naked 17-YEAR-OLD sister. Ppl defending Russian soldiers sicken me.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let's be clear: any country out there failing to condemn Russia for these attacks is implicitly supporting them. There is no fence to sit on

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

In 1000 years Russia has not fucking changed. In 1945 Gen Patton was reprimanded for suggesting we should attack while we had the chance.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Russians were always worse than the Nazis. People are only starting to realize this.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let me be clear. Nazis are evil and channeled that onto a specific group. Russians treat everyone like that. Even their own.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let’s not forget the doctor in Zaporizhzhia who received a group of girls from Mariupol. They all had to be treated for recto-vaginal tears.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

The oldest girl in the group was 10. The oldest.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

OMG! I can't even

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every single one of these soldiers should be held accountable for their crimes against humanity.

4 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

Lined up and shot is more like it.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

As a woman. Knowing that our rights to exist are that fragile, is maddening. In any conflict they love torturing women like that, why?

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This too can come to an american democracy near you if you vote republican!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Luckily I don't live in the US. So I will surely not vote Republican. I am from the NL and voted for Bij 1. Super left xd

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Idk there's any reason. That's how it has been throughout history. I guess it's simply cause they can. I'm not very proud to be a man rn.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Demoralises the home front, makes people feel powerless, angry, hopeless and full of despair - it’s a tactic of war and it’s totally fucked.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The news of Russian atrocities becomes more and more grim every single day.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I thought Ukraine was winning the war and Russians didn't want to fight. Imgur's having a change of heart?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ukraine is winning the war and many Russian troops don't want to fight. As Ukrainian forces push the Russians back, they are finding 1/

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

atrocities in towns the Russians had been occupying. This is of course on top of the atrocities the Russians have been committing against 2/

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cities they have been laying siege to. The latter we know about because there is/was still information coming out of those cities before 3/

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the Russians took them. The former we are only finding out about after the Russians have been kicked out because there was no information 4/

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sources please. There are too much propaganda on both sides.

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 10

This. I detest Russia, But I still rather have an actual investigation. Rather than just wild rumors meant to appeal to my emotions.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 8

This is actually front page of the NYT right now. I agree though OP should have provided sources.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All of the "sources" provided in the replies so far make no reference to these claims except the mass graves, those from Ukrainian officials

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Every war contains vast swathes of unchecked claims of the barbarism of the opposing forces. Outrage is in Ukraine's interest.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Be cautious about believing claims with no other sources. You can think Russia is shitty country led by an asshole without believing PR.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The “not russians, only Putin” crowd needs to look at reality. These are ordinary Russians raping children en masse.

4 years ago | Likes 355 Dislikes 6

That's the problem when you turn any citizen into a soldier.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I would suggest looking into Budanov's case back in early 00's. He tortured and raped a 17yo girl and yet people praised him as a hero

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

If you wear the uniform you are complicit

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No way, Imgur was bullshitting that these soldiers didn't want war? Who could've seen this coming!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The way I see it, if they see and know this yet still don't defect or surrender, fuck em. I can watch Russian soldiers die all day.

4 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

Fuck them and fuck everyone supporting them. Let them burn. Slava Ukraini!

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Glory to Ukraine and Hail to her people. May the next generation stay warm from the burning bodies of the Russian monsters.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Coming from the east bloc, the knowledge of russians being sub-human came to me via mother's milk. Putin is only a symptom.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I think looking at others as sub-humans only exacerbates the problem.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I understand it's not objective truth. But god damnit has the line been crossed way too many times. There is a limit to everything.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Over 80% approval of the war in Russia. Numbers from last week.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just like Putin "won" 77% of the vote at his last "election"

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

If they are against it, why they dont protest? We only see single ppl pickets. Really few number.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because almost all protesters have been arrested. Many never to be heard from again. There is a chilling effect on protest.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It supposedly was done by the last independent opinion research institute in russia

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not surprising, this is how Russian soldiers tend to behave in every conflict.

4 years ago | Likes 149 Dislikes 4

Considering most of them are raped while in conscription by Officers and peers. Does it surprise you what happens when they are let loose?

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

When humans go tribal.. this is the result

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's how they "liberated" Poland during WWII

4 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

... and how "revenge" was taken on German women after said war - by all Allied armies, though. It was not acknowledged for a long time.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Allways have. They should not be treated as POW when captured, tortured to death is the only thing they deserve

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

In my eyes they are not soldiers and therefore can be treated as you like.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Making them live as toothless eunuchs feels better deserving than the escape of death.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't spesify how long it would take.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know if it's part of doctrine of intentional terror, poor discipline, or a bit of both.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Because they know they'll get away with it :).

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mostly the lack of training IMO. There's allways a few bad ones even in well trained troops, but it gets more prevalent in conscripts e.t.c.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure. but they do have officers, and NCO's. You'd think that even an average conscript would adhere to what they have to say.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could expound on several possibilities but i don't know enough about the details to say which if any are true. Probably a mix.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But at it's core the officer probably don;t care for one reason or another.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My german grandma was fleeing from russian troops in the early 1940s. Her mother was raped by russians in front of her while she was (1)

4 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

I have similar stories from my Ukranian step-grandma about German soldiers in the 40's. People are shit everywhere home squeeze.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Absolutely true. Both grandpas had to fight and I know one of them was a really good guy, but the other... we never found out what he did.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_occupation_of_Germany#Soviet_troops mind boggling numbers. “8 to 80” estimates..German women

The biggest mass suicide in German history was a whole city worth of women choosing death when the Soviets came.

4 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

This hits so hard to home and I'm so mad. Sorry, just had to vent, I've been crying a lot lately, watching the news. Stay safe, my friends.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

The perception of russian soldiers as pitiful conscripts forced to fight is changing fast to rapist murderers who deserve to die.

4 years ago | Likes 644 Dislikes 1

There is no diametric opposition to that dichotomy. They can be pitiful conscripts who were forced to fight and committed rape and murder.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never even hit a human in my entire life, but I would absolutely kill any of them if I got the chance.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This kind of thing is exactly what you get when you force untrained conscripts into war. Only way to goad them on is to become monsters.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Conscripts means poorly trained and little discipline. They dont want to be there so will make it worth their while and the brass don't care

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Those were the first wave, the ones who died or surrendered mostly.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love seeing dead russian soldiers on r/ukrainianconflict and twitter.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm following the subreddit Ukraine War report and the stuff posted there is really hard to see.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

“Gestures at older & current Russian history” Did you honestly expect different?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Russians in Bucha weren't even conscripts. They were VDV, the supposed elite branch of the Russian military, all contract soldiers.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

They can be both.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

In fact untrained, scared conscripts are more likely to behave like this.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The more conscripts leave, the greater the bulk of the Russian forces are... this.

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

This, get a bunch of terrified upset badly trained soldiers in a warzone and this happens way more than well trained soldiers.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not a psychologist but i suspect it's a stress reaction thing, they're scared and stressed out and this is an outlet for that.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ones deserting/surrendering/rebelling are pitiful conscripts, but increasingly the ones still there made a choice or are particularly scared

4 years ago | Likes 146 Dislikes 2

Also, rape is quite prevalent within the Russian military. It's a disgusting military culture.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

There's a whole bunch (like chechen squads) that came to UA with the express intent to rape, pillage and kill.

4 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 1

They (russian soldiers) should all be all lynched, no jail time, only tortured to death while the next in line is forced to see what is ->

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 8

Waiting for them. The russian war machine has always been doing these kind of war crimes and they have never put on trial for any of it.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

They are there in Ukraine because of one man: Putin. He is responsible for ALL of this. If he goes, they leave.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 9

That’s not entirely true. None of them were ordered to rape people. That was a conscious decision those people made in their own.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

These acts violate the Geneva Convention and constitute war crimes not only by the perpetrators, but also the Russian government if they

4 years ago | Likes 741 Dislikes 2

Do we have sources other than a LinkedIn post?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

These actions are legal in Russia & encouraged by the church there. There will be no action taken.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The global powers won't prosecute war crimes so they can have an out when they commit them later

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, the only thing that can actually enforce the Geneva Conventions is an enemy army in your capital.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It seems they are trying to goad the rest of the world to put boots on the ground to excuse this bullshit. What a bunch of monsters.

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Russia has revoked the soviet signature of the Geneva convention protocol regarding war crimes in 2019...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well it's war it always happened during war and always will. war war never changes. And no matter what some Convention ever will decide.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

even less will the ones doing it ever be judged. And the word "war crimes" what horrible description, as it implies war wouldn't be a

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

sort of crime in itself.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

What is it with Russians and stuff like this? Any conflict they are in and there is mass rapings. Is it just some accepted cultural thing?

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Beating & raping women is legal there. & is also encouraged by the church to beat & torture Russian women. So, yes.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It happens with every invading army, not just Russia. It's "accepted" among men in so many countries normally, but then they get turned--

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

loose with no social oversight on a group of people they're told are inferior or evil enemies, so they don't see the women as human. They--

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

see the women as animals to use or as property of the enemy men to destroy. Other men join in or look away or deny it happens. Reading--

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

accounts of it all, thru countries' histories & today (even rapes within soldier ranks), makes one endlessly depressed.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They've seen the US get away with torture and similar war crimes by ignoring and threatening the ICC.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 25

Uhm, what? The Russians did this on a huge scale in WWII and the US barely even had a military at that time. They did it in Afghanistan too.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Hm, I must have imagined Abu Ghraib happening. Or Guantanamo. Or Bush signing ASPA. Sorry, my bad.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 12

What about whataboutism?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can we stop this bullshit essentialism? USA raped everywhere they went, as did every other invading army

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 8

"This was done by others, so it's ok and we'll let it happen" is not a good argument

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can call out essentialism and acknowledge that what the Russians are doing isn't just "a few bad apples."

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

fail to take action against them. Hearing these accounts really makes my blood boil. May Russia never live this down.

4 years ago | Likes 312 Dislikes 2

Geneva convention became a checklist for russians

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You mean like the last time they invaded and raped a nation and "never lived it down"?

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

gthey? you mean like every country who invaded another. because thats not russian exclusive. it's juts "war" in general.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Russia was already more or less confirmed to be using white phosphorus, so sadly they've already committed provable war crimes. 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 0

We can hope there is a swift end to this, whatever it may be (so long as Ukraine is not subject to further pain at the hands of Russia, ofc)

4 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Not white phosphorus again. How fucked up someone is to use that shit.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

as someone not too weapon savy....what does it do? isnt phosphorus something that is used to make flame coloring?

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

In a few words, its ignition point is ~30°C(86F), the average temperature of your skin is 33°C.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It ignites upon contact with air, and to remove it from flesh requires removing the layer of flesh it's adhered to.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Basically it’s sticky fire that’s pretty much impossible to put out and likes to spray itself everywhere as it burns.
