My new fancy pants make me feel fancy.

Japanese kurabo denim, with a blue selvedge. Stiffest denim I've ever touched. My borderline industrial vintage machine had trouble in a few spots and I had to hand sew. Wow this stuff is feisty!

Selvedge on the outseam, back pockets, and coin pockets. Copper rivets and buttons.

Button fly for old school feel, two coin pockets because they're quite nice for earbuds.

Seven belt loops so they stay put! Maybe I should have ironed them first, but who irons jeans? hahaha :D

made?...dayum, go you!

It takes a tremendous amount of confidence and optimism to leave the house in white pants. To think there will be no puddles or pizza today as you leave the house in those takes very special person.

If the pockets ever fall off @OP, you'll have half a Star Wars costume all set! Double-win.

Now you need to make a white shirt and a yellow jacket!

Well well well, if it isn’t Mister Fancy Pants

The same!

Just curious: are people supposed to take pics of the pants wearing them barefoot? Every pic I've ever seen of a review under an article it's people with same pose, same angle, no socks/shoes.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hmm first I'm hearing of it, but entirely possible? I just don't wear shoes in my house and this was just a pic I had my partner take of me to share with a friend :D

🎶Chances are your pants are not as fancy as the pair, of very fancy pants that Mr. Fancy Pants will wear...🎶 Yup sure is! :D

It would seem your pants are not tight enough.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

By design lol I need to be able to move in them still :D

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice work! You should wear some fancy shoes to go with your fancy pants!

I like the new one with Matthew McConaughey. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1_JxSIOT7x/

Bahaha nice! I should've made 'em out of stretch denim for that though rather than true denim :D. Though I guess if I knit a nice orange and brown 1970s sweater nobody will notice the difference :D

I'm big and bald and (in my mind) jacked and gay, so maybe? :D

I completely understand the pants now

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah my favorite podcast says white jeans on a man are pretty damn gay lol. I have enough denim left over to make some jorts as well: if I go with a 5" inseam I have my Pride outfit for this year :D

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s not just the gay part, it’s the tall muscular gay part that makes it, and I love it. Please please post jorts if you do make them.

Wow!!! I wish I was that good at sewing. I have a short muscular curvy build and nothing ever fits me right. I hate shopping for that reason. Those pants look amazing!!

I stalked your profile for a selfie and, you ain't kidding!

Silver, Mavi, amd Yoga jeans are a good shot. Though I recently found some Gap ones that fit shockingly well

Not gap, Guess!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wow love the yoga jeans but so pricey!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah...those are definitely a "buy on sale only" purchase

YouTube and Reddit have tons of resources for learning to sew. You should absolutely pick it up! You may find it's easier than you think for a lot of everyday things like shirts and pants (thankfully I don't wear dresses because those are VERY complicated haha).

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I find pants much harder than dresses. So many curves to fit! Nicely done!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(OP) white pants? Those should be filthy by now, I looked at them. I don't even understand why that's a colour for clothes. Other than that, nice work.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Give them time and I'm sure the glow will fade :D

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See I was thinking just the opposite! I can run off a dress no problem but I cannot get the hang of trousers. These look amazing!

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I am kind of in awe of some of the dresses I've seen with their sleek curves and 3D effects and textures. Making something so form fitting as to highlight the body of the wearer takes incredible skill which I can barely imagine! Also the seam allowances and delicate materials used on a lot of dresses are incredibly hard to pull off.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I guess it's a case of knowing what you practice. All dresses breakdown to pretty simple pattern pieces and usually fit is way easier than trousers because they are easy to take in but yeah some of the fabrics are a pain.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@op do you use a dress form of yourself?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No I don't have the space haha. Nearly all the stuff I sew starts from off-the-shelf patterns that I trace out with modifications from my own measurements as needed (knife pleats in shirts are a must to fit my shoulders). And when they're done if I need to take it in a little I will. Tbh I don't really know how to use a dress form either. I don't have any formal training: just some stuff my mom and mandatory Home Ec from over 20 years ago showed me :D.

Ok. Sometimes I find a shirt that fits perfectly and I think it would be great to sew another. And I HAVE a sewing machine but I just feel intimidated by the idea of it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd say just go for it! It's always scary the first time you try something new, but the more you do it the less scary it becomes. Sewing and crafting are very much demystified with a bit of practice :D

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same! I was not using my machine because I was intimidated and afraid I would mess something up. Then I wanted to make something and the hand sewing was just taking so long and making my fingers hurt, so I just finally said enough was enough and sat down to read the manual, set it up, watch some YouTube vids when I got stuck, and I was able to finish my project with machine sewn seams. It took an afternoon to get rolling. Really worth it.
