Also known as a Haitian Wave Pool.

Remind me to show this to a client whenever they complain about the seismic bracing system I put on their indoor chemical storage tanks.

Is the safest place to be during an earthquake?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Whoa, that's not what I expected

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty good demonstration of a tsunami, too.

holy shit, thats some supercool nightmare fuel.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

What is the official "worst case scenario" book esque thing to do in this situation?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My house creaked from an earthquake that was 100 miles away once. Apartment over a detached garage, I'm pretty sure I'm going to die here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

World's smallest tsunami.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best wave pool ever

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey that actually sounds like a goo-- NEVERMIND!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That perfectly describes how I experienced this post.

Mother Nature: SURPRISE IT'S A WAVE POOL!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel for the first time that I understand what an earthquake must feel like. Movies suck at portraying them!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

the most surprising thing about them is you can hear the bedrock grinding

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That looks waaaaay bigger than the biggest california quake I've been through, but you're exactly right. Like being at sea.

TBH that's probably the safest place to be during an earthquake.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Depends on whether there's a glass ceiling or wall nearby, maybe?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd probably be safer in another place not experiencing the earthquake

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I dunno elementary school drills taught me under a tiny desk is tinge safest place. Logically speaking I think an empty field would be.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tinge? Really autocorrect? That was supposed to read "the"

Infinity pool, at the top of a building, during an earthquake? Annndd... now I have a brand new phobia, thanks.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe I can fly

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now you see how tsunami's happen. Imagine the ocean being thrown around instead of a pool.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

where I live tsunamis are possible but rarely form, even after a massive quake offshore. We had something like 6.4 not long ago

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is actually really damn educational.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Agreed

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, that's terrifying

Yes, thank @OP, my nightmares have been getting kind of repetetive...ugh...+1

These were the exact words that came to mind when watching +1

There are two types of people

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ya surprisingly. I bet you're generally safer in the pool than in a building though. Maybe not for an indoor pool though.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Seems like a day at a beach to me. I'd rather be in this than in a building during an earthquake

There's a scene in Passengers where the artificial gravity disappears while JLaw is in the pool.Almost felt like I was starting to suffocate

Cat Stevans/Yusuf Islam went full Muslim after a large wave that almost killed him and he prayed for survival. Dropped out of music at the

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Height of his career. Only came back a few years ago when his son convinced him making music has nothing to do with his faith

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks scary but idk, relatively safe place to be in the event of an earthquake, so long as you keep your head above water

9 years ago | Likes 221 Dislikes 9

Sooooo... Little risk of shark attack?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tsunami sharks could be a possibility.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless the Earth swallows you whole.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Naaaaah debris knocking you unconscious=drowning. I'd much rather take extra bruises and lower drowning risk.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

What about when the giant crevices open up at the bottom and you get sucked down into the abyss .

Keep up the good work !! You have a lot of replies and comments so delays are to be expected . Have a great day!!!

So it's better to be in the middle of the ocean! Thanks

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes. If you were in the middle of the ocean on a boat, a tsunami wave *might* slosh the drink in your glass.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Unless it's a hell of a tsunami. But by that point you may not want to make it back to land anyways.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, actually. The tsunami waves will roll right underneath you!

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0
