In 1965, Rudolf Schenker formed the band Scorpions with Wolfgang Dziony, Karl-Heinz Vollmer, and Achim Kirchhoff.
Just look at little baby Rudolf Schenker (left)
Pics shamelessly stolen from www.vintage.es

Members have come and gone, but the classic lineup lasted almost 15 years.

'In Trance', one of my favourite songs, alongside 'The Zoo', 'Another Piece Of Meat', 'Hey You', 'Crossfire', 'Blackout'..... aaargh, there's too many to mention!
To enjoy some sweet 70s metal and Klaus' kickass dance moves, catch the full show at:

Back of the 'Savage Amusement' cover.
So. Much. Hairspray.
Musicians of the 1980s were probably responsible for at least a quarter of the hole in the ozone layer.
Most of my Scorpions vinyl collection, strategically placed to avoid the wrath of the mods over the 'Lovedrive' cover (man, they had some horrible covers).
I've been a fan since the album 'Love At First Sting', but I didn't get to see them live until 2012 in Sandviken.
I still keep the ticket on my fridge door because it was such an amazing experience. Their joy on stage showed how much they still love performing.
I was gonna say I wish I'll have their energy when I'm in my 60s, but I wouldn't have been able to bounce around on stage like the then 64 year old Rudolf Schenker, even in my prime.
Current lineup: (from left) Rudolf Schenker, Paweł Mąciwoda, Klaus Meine, Mikkey Dee, Matthias Jabs
Happy 60th anniversary, guys. There's 'No One Like You'.
2wingsofwax
I have Savage Amusement and Love At First Sting on vinyl, and treasure them. These were powerful albums in my youth.

Thanks for the post, @op! Tossing this album out there as another memory: https://music.apple.com/us/album/assault-attack-bonus-track-version/1629121989

My first concert. 1984, opening act was Bon Jovi. Fun times
rbudrick
I had no idea they were around that long.
StacInThePlace
Wind Of Change is one of my all time favorite songs 🤘🏻
spiderjohn36
I HIGHLY recommend their In Trance album from '75. It's the first album where they start to shed their prog rock roots and develop into the tight hard rock/metal band most of us remember.
2B4UALL
They are always somewhere
Kittensandyarns
Oh, that's such a great song. It's definitely my favourite on my 'falling asleep' playlist
imacmadman
Seen them live three times, they put on one hell of a show.
MahadmaGaudi
saw them last year…let‘s say, maybe one of their last shows. Klaus didn’t look great
PinkEater
Saw them in concert several decades ago. Not much of a story, I know.
xn1992
No, it’s cool. In similar vein, I saw UFO early 80’s, was a good show
UnlimitedTrickPony
Klaus Meine is 75y ... still hitting those high notes like nobody else
unencumberedbythethoughtprocess
And the CIA wrote their biggest hit Wind of Change
Syxcfaq
Check out the Wind Of Change Podcast. It's possibly the best podcast I have ever listened to. So much to the story about the song, it is hard to believe.
fredhoffman1968
dang near lost mikkey ..last week ...
Kittensandyarns
I had totally missed that! 😱
Sepsis, apparently. He seems to be doing ok now.
TheOneThatGotBanned
still kicking ass at 76, https://youtu.be/Nf3ESYrS29M wind of change (2024 Lisboa)

I remember when Klaus Meine did a spot for KBPI in Denver and said, "When I'm not listening to KBPI, Im doing Steve Cooper's girlfriend." Classic
Cyggscyr
Was in a band call the Archnids. We only did Scorps covers.
ornamentaal
World Wide Live! All their greatest songs recorded on a world tour in the mid-80's. I also think Coast to Coast is one of the best instrumental rock songs out there. Such melody. Many spandex.
TheOneThatGotBanned
still gives me the chills hearing Wing of change... even more so live... saw them in 23, Klaus still has it at 74, incredible ❤❤
sebert81
My very first concert ever was a Scorpions Show in 93 or 94.
snobollskrieg
Horrible album covers? Man, I found Virgin Killer in my dad's collection that he gave me. That one is in a black plastic bag in the shelf, because aint no way I will have it out and about.
Kittensandyarns
😬 And that's why I didn't take a picture of my Scorpions CD collection. Didn't want to get a lifetime banning from imgur.
Whenever there's a list of "ugliest album covers", they usually occupy several spots.
Lepercake
Uli Roth is king.
ScienceIsNotALiberalConspiracy
Damn, Micky Dee is in the Scorpions now? As if King Diamond and Motorhead wasn't enough...
MCTMCT
He was also in Dokken right after King Diamond.

Rocking like a hurricane!
fformulaa
Still loving you!
Fanner50
I wonder how much the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes have to pay them for constant “rock you like a hurricane” during games
FiftyShadesOfCauliflower
A lot of time passed between #2 and #3. In that time they took some of their coolest, sexiest, most metal photos.
Kittensandyarns
Ah, yes, the 70s, when "dessicated chicken carcass"-skinny was sexy and manscaping hadn't been invented.
WellThatsOriginal
You've gotta see this. Don't fast forward... https://youtu.be/AaOq06ZARq0?si=BUR01R1f2EPQMVec
Kittensandyarns
I hadn't seen this, thank you so much for the link!
WellThatsOriginal
It is one of the most amazing musical things I have ever seen/heard
djl74
Two of their best guitarists have not been mentioned here. Uli Jon Roth and Rudolph’s brother Michael.
djl74
I also suggest Puddles Pity Party’s version of Still Loving You.
Kittensandyarns
Uli Jon Roth was in the video linked in the post, but yeah, I skipped several previous bandmembers.
I agree, both Roth and Michael Schenker are amazing guitarists, but their time with Scorpions was relatively short. To keep post length down, I chose to only include first, longest lasting, and latest lineup.
conklin5
I was never a big fan but I always thought The Zoo was a really great piece of work.
GemsAreOutrageousTrulyTrulyTrulyOutrageous
I fucking love "Lady Starlight" (https://youtu.be/Pm1Tnpb6iV4>) on that album. That and "Make it Real" (https://youtu.be/VncG0KAug2o).
Metallica93
The verse riff on 'The Zoo' is so sleazy. Love it.
AlmostClever
When I say your dumb name, just say "here" and we will assume 'here' is short for "Here I am, rock you like a hurricane."
SpaceCoyote300
You will do as the scorpions did before you!
