Finished. Very impressed by how water repellent it is.

Totally neglected. Only just moved in. We were going to replace it.

So glad I bought the extraction unit.

Those three grooves would drive me crazy -- I can picture food and crumbs caught in them.

Watch out for license plates in your posts OP

Good on you for not replacing it. Looks like original mid-century work.

Really like the counter being over the sink. That seems so smart.

as long as there is no surface tension running under the board though. i wonder

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's sealed. The water just runs straight into the sink

Osmo clear Matt.

It looks very Professional. Great job.!

Beautiful work. I like how just a bit if sandpaper and clear coat can give wood new life.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's such a striking change for 4 hours work

Bacteria trap.

Fosho

Ugh god I hate everything about it. The way it hangs over the sink, how it doesn't match anything else, those stupid little shelves

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I mean, please tell me you're changing out hardware and rest of shelves? And look at how dirty that little sink pocket is

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fully agree but it'll do for now. Its old and the layout doesn't make sense. You can sleep well knowing that it'll be replaced next year.

I'm thinking about buying that little wet/dry vac for myself, and I have that sander; can they attach normally or do you need an adapter?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's the same DeWalt vac and tool they fit with an supplied adapter. I was very impressed with it when I remembered to turn it on :/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is lovely. And I'm jealous of that sink!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

GORGEOUS!

Wooden countertops are the worst material for a kitchen

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think grass would be worse

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least it would absorb some water :)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Beautiful work, but I’ll never understand wooden countertops, especially with tons of other options

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Before seeing this counter, I would have agreed with you.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This post is a good reason: it can be restored or repaired without needing specialized knowledge, skills or tools (still, I couldn't, haha).

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My friend has one, it’s a pain in the ASS

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

See! That’s what I’m saying! Even redone, lacquered , etc... it’s porous!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy hell that is sexy. Really nice job!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sink cost more than my entire kitchen remodel.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice. We need more people willing to restore.

Whats the upright vent? Overfill? I'd be afraid of dropping something in it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the overflow. I haven't dropped anything in there.......yet.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Beautiful restoration on that counter top. Out of curiosity, what kind and color of osmo oil did you use? Just a clear top oil or ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the clear oil. It makes the wood look a lot darker. It's v easy to use.

Please can my company use your pictures for our Facebook page? We are a small UK based company selling osmo.

Do I get discount on my next order? ;)

Are you in the UK? Then yes I can sort that out ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks very handsome. What is that little pocket thing on the right hand side of your sink?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Overflow tube?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m not 100% but it looks like the sink overflow. If the plug is in and the water gets that high it goes down that drain.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That is some mighty fine work! That Osmo Clear Matt is waterproof?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes and food safe

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. The water just pools on the top and you can wipe it down.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even if i love wood, stoneis better for kitchen

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Stone is better for temp, it would suck to burn these with a hot pot/pan. But as a prep surface, wood can’t really be beat.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Look you need restauration likethat post. But stone need nothing...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes there is maintenance, & some stones need resealing too, but you can cut directly on wood & wood is better for most food related bacteria

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Realy ? I wouldnt bet on that bacteria side

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see that fairy washing up liquid. I believe you are in the British Isles.

Indeed :)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like to prepare food as I bathe

Alright Kramer

Don’t act like you haven’t.

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I've done it before, I was in a weird time in life...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the only place the tamale pot can fit...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Saves a lot of water if you bathe yourself first, or at the same time.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

If you install a garbage disposal, you can do a salad there too, I think the Clarkman garbage disposal is the best for that job

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ew

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ew, but I still laughed!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ew? You can eat food and then put the plate right into the tub with you, that's called multitasking

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Defrost your meat at the same time why don't you.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Set the pasta in at the start for a tasty snack later

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure most guys defrost their meat while showering. Its just more efficient to do it that way.
