IMO we need to get rid of it. It's the reason why companies always have to grow year over year now. "The Street" expects it, and if it doesn't happen, all your shareholders lose money. It's got nothing to do with how good the business is. Just rich people gambling. It causes so much harm and very little good.

That's exactly what it means, yes. It's kind of a response to the guys saying that women get so many compliments while men get none. But the kinds of compliments that women get from men aren't really compliments. Usually they're just a means to an end. Even worse, they can be scary. The real, heartfelt compliments from men tend to be extremely few and far between. I still remember the 2 or 3 that I've had in my lifetime. Most of the compliments women get are from their moms or female friends.

There are probably a lot of guys who don't, just like there are a lot of girls who get zero compliments, real or fake, from men. Those two groups don't get mentioned too much, because the former isn't a problem and the latter is invisible to men in general. But for the women who *do* get fake compliments from men, it doesn't really matter if there are a bunch of men sincerely being quiet, because what they see is the constant inundation of fakeness. It's like with online dating - I got so many messages, and so many were either obviously insincere, and a lot were upsetting (like disgusting or aggressive/scary), that I just gave up on reading any of them. There probably were some real ones in there that I simply never saw. It sucks. But instead I decided to search through myself, and I met a lot of great guys that way that I probably wouldn't have /2

But yeah this flood of insecerity probably does mean there are people out there who would have made good couples, but they'll never connect because of all this fakeness in the way.
