You did it. Well done.

The very fact that we know there's 3 judges on the court that are aiming to undermine democracy is disgusting to me. These people need to fuckin' go.

Im all for this development, but she has some weird Karen vibes going on, get the same feeling from those photos as happens when my trypophobia gets triggered.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 25

Speak of being a fucking Karen.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is gonna piss people off but, I don’t care what alignment a judge had. But shouldn’t they have us the people in their best interest.

Thank you, Wisconsin, on behalf of a grateful nation. Every victory over authoritarians is a huge shift toward justice for women and stopping the constant attacks on our bodily autonomy. Keep up the good fight. Take care of one another.

nice

Remember when judges decided cases on the merits, not political ideology... no, me neither. This is a great win.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The constant dems vs republicans trope wages on. This is a win for the American people.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very commendable Wisconsonians! (did I say that right?)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good job, Wisconson voters!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now for the Supreme Court of the United States.

3 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

If only those seats were elected.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that'll take a bit longer. Need to keep electing Democratic presidents and Senates on the federal level for... however many years it takes for the requisite number of Republican supreme court justices to stop being on the supreme court, either through retirement from their job or retirement from the mortal coil. Trump managed to have the good fortune to be President with a working Senate majority with three vacancies to play with in four years.

“Retirement from the mortal coil”

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What's worse is that this is a judicial position. Your political outlook *shouldn't* have any bearing on your judgements. The fact it does shows just how broken the US is now.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah.....a judge election should come with foregone conclusions about how they will rule on the bench.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is she actually good or another sinema?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm so grateful for all of you Wisconsinites who voted for Judge Janet. Thank you.

I am as well.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Just doing my duty to keep fascism from destroying whats left of democracy.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I cast my ballot for Janet after work last night.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well jeez, that’s dandy

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Oh thank you, Wisconsonians. First real breath of relief I’ve taken this year.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She is super smart and contextually fair.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure the politicisation of the courts by the fash will have no ramifications in the long run...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wish Oklahoma could go blue.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean, I don’t think that you did anything other than engage in a crime of opportunity; and hopefully you’ve learned your lesson.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

What?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

maybe the GQP should have stolen power and *then* attacked the rights of women and vulnerable groups. lots of pissed off voters now.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah they really jumped the gun on that one

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did my part!

Thank you, Badger! From a Nittany Lion

Stupid question - why does her winning have any impact on the 2024 presidential election?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Republican legislatures in some red states are empowering themselves to overturn elections from any precinct if they don't like the result and to just appoint the winner. It's the natural progression from their filed fake electors scheme from 2020.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because she can stop the local gqp from rigging the state for trump.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We shouldn’t ever be one seat away from fascism

3 years ago | Likes 301 Dislikes 4

Yeah well we have people starving and dying for no reason in one of the richest countries in the world so dunno what to tell you.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A-FUCKING-MEN to that.

3 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

The problem with a 2-party state is that we're one party away from being a 1-party state.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

This is doubly true for Wisconsin right now, because Reps also won the single last seat in the Senate they needed for a 2/3s majority to impeach state officials. They’re already openly discussing the idea of impeaching her. https://www.wpr.org/election-results-wisconsin-8th-senate-district-special-election-dan-knodl-jodi-habush-sinykin

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Shit, how bad is this? Also telling that they scraped by in a supposedly safe area with less than 1% of the vote.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Depends on how confident you are that there is even one single Republican in their Senate with any ethical compass. Idk much about Wisconsin politics, but based on the nationwide trends of the party, I wouldn’t bet money on the will of the people prevailing.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So we have to assume that they’ll do it then. What’s the process exactly?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Same as with US Congress. Lower house (State Assembly) needs majority to impeach, upper house (Senate) needs 2/3s supermajority to convict and remove from office.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's so frustrating... it's like we're always one step away from total implosion.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

america wasnt always like this. this is new. it is bad.

3 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 1

This is bad, but it is not new. What we're seeing today is the culmination of what a handful of people have been constantly working towards for the last 60 years. Nothing happening in America today should be surprising to anyone who's been paying attention.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

One day the ball will drop and we will miss that final mark. We are living during the death of an empire. Corruption is rampant and there seems to be more fires than fire fighters. I only hope the kids are paying attention. I think since Repubs want to raise the voting age, that they are - But they cant get to voting age fast enough. If we make it, then we are going to make it by the hair on our teeth.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Shit, they changed the smoking age from 18 to 21 for no real reason. They overturned Roe vs Wade. One step away from getting drafted even though we're not at war, to maintain "minimum requirements" for their military. Repubs want you to work until you die, go to war at the drop of a hat, and "see how the world works" before you can enjoy any liberties.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some fukinwizard, what do they want to raise the age to?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some were talking 21, some 25.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ha. 21 is bad enough, 25. Good way to get rid of a bunch of voters.
