My (maybe unpopular) opinion

If you smoke, use dangerous drugs, don't get vaccinated, etc. that is your right, but if you want healthcare you need to take preventative measures. Clarification edit: these drug user might be given aid in fixing their addiction, as to where the line is drawn, that will have to be agreed upon by some group

In America the choice to not have enough money keeps us from health care.

The idea that poorly-thought-out life choices should carry actual repercussions is counter to current thought. Sort of like having a baby.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

In practice that just ends up costing more. It is better to keep them in the system and encourage a healthier lifestyle. Carrot beats stick.

Also, if you plan to have a baby or any kind of cancer - SHHHHH

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Yes?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most addicts had their first drug experience as kids with their parents. Its not their fault they were raised poorly.

Have you see the prices of smokes in Australia I'm paying for my healthcare 10fold

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or you know, maybe just not over regulate and monopolize heath care so it is the most expensive in the world

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The costs of healthcare are sky high because companies are not regulated enough. In Europe healthcare is under stringent regulation.

1) Voters like you are an excellent reason for keeping healthcare non-governmental. Suddenly when it's "your" money,

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

2) those coverage exclusions sound great.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Meh, there's always people that will take advantage of the system but I'm happy paying taxes to help out my fellow citizens no mater what

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Matter*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't think we should deny them healthcare coverage, they should just have to be higher costs, this includes obese people.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you smoke, don't get vaccinated, have a drinking or drug problem, lose prescription coverage for a year or two, and drink maybe. SHHHH.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

So what makes your life choices any better than anyone else's?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Nothing. My life choices are awful, but not directly detrimental to my health

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Except punitive measures like these result in a net negative effect on society

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only they might not stop there. next thing you know you lose your healthcare because you had one big mac

8 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

That's a slippery slop argument.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

So no alcohol either?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No alcoholism

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What about overeating?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But you don't have to be an alcoholic for alcohol to damage your health. Doctors agree that the best amount of alcohol is none.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone who has ever eaten is either dead or currently dying. Top scientists are still looking into the cause. After climate change.

Dear God, are those numbers accurate?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are still going door to door asking surviving family members.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Who draws the line?

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

someone who didn't grow up raised by druggy parents into a life of addiction. so, not me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The line drawer.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And how consistently is it drawn?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I do. For asking you've been blacklisted. Still gonna tax you for it, though.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Insurance companies already drew a line and called those things "pre-existing" or "high risk" conditions and the previous government

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

administration said they had to take those people because they were the ones that actually needed health care. So why they would redraw the

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

same line again makes no sense. But it is the government so it's possible I guess.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Our government approves of giving people highly addictive opiates which often leads to addiction, Cia imports heroine. It's all been proven

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Our?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Source of this info? Cross examined?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I meant more the CIA heroin thing

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I trust you on the opioids and I agree it needs to stop

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Illinformed opinion puffin

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I know plenty about this, and I know that people destroy their bodies in awful ways. Some people are 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

That's not the point I was making. You said it yourself, "by some group", which means you don't have an answer as to who would suitably 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

arbitrate what is and isn't acceptable behaviour. There's the real issue here, not the utopian view that you have. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, you don't. What you are suggesting will cost more money and not make people healthier. Unless that's what you are aiming for.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Moderate drinkers, or moderate eaters of fast food, and that's fine. When it becomes severely and clearly damaging is when its a problem 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

so how about you go read some scholarly articles and gather information and stop trying to act like 3/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

You're superior to everyone else. I'll wait.
