'Tis the season!

“IT'S THE EXPRESSION ON THEIR LITTLE FACES I LIKE, said the Hogfather.
"You mean sort of fear and awe and not knowing whether to laugh or cry or wet their pants?"
YES. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL BELIEF.”

I give you a repost of my favorite comic inspired by the works of Sir Terry.

All credit goes to the artist in question and the author in heaven. Merry Hogswatch, everyone!

Can we just flood user sub with this image so they get their fill? It's just like last year, when this image made FP almost every day.

Everytime I see a post about Terry Pratchett, I remind myself of the book my teacher gave me and said "It's my favorite author."

I will forever and always upvote Pratchett. Several of the school library's books by him are sitting on my shelf.

Definitely going to have to re-read this since it's the festive season. RIP, Terry. You'll always be missed.

"I WAS THE ASSASSIN AGAINST WHOM NO LOCK WOULD HOLD." "Yes, point taken. But do you have any particular skills?"

The Hogfather! The Sky One adaptation is my second favorite Christmas movie, after Die Hard.

I recommend Good Omens, if you enjoyed this one. Pratchett+Gaiman satirizing the apocalypse is a grand old time and my very favorite book.

That book is total heresy, and I love it.

Busy reading it again a second time. It's the little jokes that make it an amazing book...

I really liked that one, even though my friends said it's boring. I like Crowley.

Ah yes, an angel who didn't fall so much as saunter vaguely downwards.

He's his own man, only caring about his own business rather than some stupid war that isn't his. Thinking for himself, I respect that.

That M5 motorway? Crowley's work. Mass damnation is better than spending years on a single individual, after all.

What book is this from and is it part of a series? I've been trying to get into Terry Pratchett but didn't know where to start.

Pick random book, proceed from there. That's what got me hooked.

Start with small gods, men at arms, or going postal.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I personally think you could start with any of them. I started with Sourcery. This particular post is from Hogfather... I really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed small gods, that was my first book

Look into each of these and figure out which one interests you the most. https://www.terrypratchettbooks.com/types/discworld-by-character/

Every person who reads Pratchett says you should start at different points. I say just hop in

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeap, easyiest way. Personally I'd jump in at Guards Guards, but that's just me.

First few books aren't as good I would start with Mort, or Equal Rites if you prefer a female protagonist, or Feet of Clay for mystery.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Those books still carry value for DW fan, but aren't the best place to start.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Will I be able to jump right in without having read the first few?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah that would be fine. The only order you want to keep is the themed books - witches, night watch, Rincewind.

Cool! Thanks guys! Might get started on them this summer once I'm done with required reading.
