I am loving this new strategy of having them lie, and then presenting the irrefutable evidence of the lie

Lol it’s like an episode of Jerry Springer

Maybe try making lying your face of have some consequences?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But if there’s no consequence to being called out on the lie, it’s worth fuck all. If republicans weren’t onboard with the hypocrisy, they’d never have voted for the orange sack of waste the second time, let alone third.

This has been an ongoing issue since IIRIRA was enacted under Clinton. While many, in the past, were due to aggregated felonies (Likely the result of PTSD flashbacks and really should be getting treatment, not exile), tRump's deportation gestapo doesn't give a fuck.
Either way, if they serve the country -- and are able to keep their benefits -- they should get citizenship.

I imagine, if you or I lied to Congress, it would be a different outcome than just posts on the internet.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was Biden's fault.

"He's a paid actor!"

Isn’t lying to Congress a crime?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not if you're a Republican. Or rather, "so what if it's a crime, what are you gonna do about it?"

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s too easy

She should be impeached, trialed and jailed

Trump has shown that prison is longer a safe place to keep enemies of the republic. We need a more permanent solution.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Totally agree

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The issue isnt just that they lie, its that there's no repurcussions against them lying, and they know it.

this, whats exposing worth if it has no cosequence?

Still puts it on an official record for the day that consequences come. And they will come. Fascists never escape the hubris of history.

Every time I see Rep. Magaziner's name, I picture this:

Tranzor Z

Or its original name: Mazinger Z. https://mazinger.fandom.com/wiki/Mazinger_Z_(TV_Series)

you are correct! If I recall correctly - they re-named the program for the American market

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. He should have pressed her even more on the solution and had more cases... but he made the point. She was so embarrassed she left the meeting early for another meeting that had already been canceled. Patel didn't even show up.

Did you watch the actual hearing?

After the zoom call there are like three more people in the room that he has her address.

One was a veteran whose wife from Ireland has lived here for 37 years. She bounced two checks for 80 dollars over a decade ago. His wife has been held in prison for 4 months.

A military vet. Guy that's dad was here illegal and his three sons were marines. He's lived here like 40 years as a landscaper, no crimes, raised 3 decorated Marines and deported.

Can you even imagine how fucked we would be if they were actually competent?

We're already so fucked when they aren't, I simply cannot fathom it.

I'm terrified for the future of this country.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The thing is that this nation is still doomed. Without some serious purging of government agencies and corporate boards along with some totalitarian style courts proceedings, the republic will still fall the instant someone with more intelligence than a baked potato gets into office.

We don't have to worry about Patel being competent, I'm sure his SWAT protected definitely not a foreign agent girlfriend can pick up the slack.

The reason they go the fascist route is BECAUSE they are incompetent. Successful people go be successful; they don't have to force others to pretend that they are. The only reason it works is that humans are too pro-social to stop this nonsense, because doing so creates more immediate and obvious conflict than letting the bullies have their way.

Germany 1920-1945 didn't happen because of competence. It happened because it was socially easier than not letting it happen.

Same for the DOJ. Trump's stooge lawyers and Bondi are, in an odd way, our best option.

I think that’s the worst part. It’s not lex Luther as president that’s a racist and got there because he’s one of the smartest person on the planet. But this lot is so ridiculously stupid and still got this far.

That has to hurt the most.

This is like if a corporation was the government. So many c-suites have their heads up their asses and have no clue they are stupid.

Robert Reich has a great article about how people who are competent don't do shit like this. Like, if your only bar for entry is a loyalty test, you are bound to get the shittiest people who don't know how to do anything other than suck up. So you are dooming yourself to be surrounded by buffoons.

Exactly what happened during Bush Jr.'s era, which is why every time there was a crisis it was so poorly managed it caused way more issues than there ever needed to be. This has been practically the point of modern conservatism where nobody is even remotely interested in actually governing.

Listen up, you reactive screwheads. I'm going to say something that to the slow witted, sounds like I'm defending Noem. I'm not. Noem actually said "We have not deported US citizens or military veterans". This is wording was chosen specifically to be ambiguous enough to sound like she was talking just about US citizens. What Magaziner should have done was stop and made her clarify that she was talking about any veterans. But instead he let Noem play him like a fiddle. Do better, Dems.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 22

Honestly, they're part of it. Sitting down and holding up signs hasn't done shit. If they were against everything there would be action.

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

Did we watch the same hearing? Noem got her ass kicked

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guess I'm slow witted too.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guess I am sloew witted.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You say when someone says "We have not deported US citizens or military veterans" one should stop and ask if they are talking about veterans ? When she just said she was talking about veterans ?
And you want to make things clear for the slow witted ?

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'm not agreeing here but I think it could be that she didn't say "US military veterans". Lawyers play word games, its so close to lying (and is lying in a lot of cases), and is deliberate deception that its easy to miss unless you play the same game day in and day out. Another lawyer maybe would have made her clarify exactly what she meant by that. Its not being slow, its not being a douchebag that plays that game daily.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Okay? But the guy she deported was a US military veteran. He has 2 purple hearts from the US military for fighting for the US Army.

You can serve in the US military without being a citizen. In fact, the military often dangles the prospect of citizenship as an incentive to get non-citizens to enlist.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did not know you could serve without being a citizen. But as I said I was just guessing at what might have been meant.
