Lake Bled in Slovenija

Lake Bled in Slovenija is one of the most beatiful and awe inspiring places that I have ever been blessed to visit in my life.

Have an AirBnB reserved in June with a view of the castle.

14€ for a 5min boat ride and the church costs extra. It never does in other places though...

I used extensive pictures of this location as setting inspiration for a D&D campaign. I would LOVE to visit this place.

Believe me all slovenes are running out of the country so you might just bump into students and tourists! We have flatlands, alps, sea :D

My wife and I went in March/April before the tourist season started. Some things were closed but it was pretty and not crowded

Lake Bled itself is already pretty crowded, I thought Slap Martuljek was a lot cooler

I was on a boat on that lake during an earthquake in 2004. The quake was a few miles away, but it still rocked the boat!

Also get ice cream on the island.

Beautiful spot, and ljubljana is beautiful. If anyone is going and looking for an amazing culinary experience, I can only recommend Strelec.

Slovenia is stunning. Bled is a cute town. I don’t recommend swimming to the island. It’s further than it looks.

There are also some huge teeth filled fish in that lake, I saw a guy fish one out about 20 mins after I swam in it, yeah nope

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great advice. Also in this instance it's "farther" since it refers to physical distance.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

According to google maps, its around 865 feet (263 meters) from shore to island in what looks like the shortest route.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But is there an access point to the water there? Lol I’m also a bad swimmer. I sink lol

There's a cool castle on the hill above that lake that's also a fancy restaurant. Great place!

That’s lovely. Reminds me of a shot from the animated film, Porco Rosso:

This reminds me of the monastery island in Perast, Montenegro

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Walked around the lake once. Little backstory: in that island that's a little monastry. The churchbell of that monastry (so is said) brings

...luck to you if you chime it. So the clever native monks are takig miney from tourists to chime the bell plus a ridiculous amount of money

...to get in the island. Yes, right just one way. You have to pay again for the way back. All together you're around 120-130€ to get on the

...island (around 150- 200m from shore) ring the bell and go the way back. The only pleople doing that (at least at the time I was there)

...were asians. The whole area around the lake and on the island is completely overcrowded by asians that all want to go to that island and
