There are similarities (the cap), with other nation's uniforms, yet, it was the french outfit until 1915. Afterwards, came the Adrian helmet

Have a look at Albanian and Turkish WWI uniforms : you'll notice some huge differences.

Believe me : mustaches were a common feature in France, back then. And the uniforms make it more accurate, even on such a grainy picture.
