The distance between learning the thing and then learning the thing was fake was only a nanometer... and still I'm going to have to try really hard to remember that this is not a "fact" in six months when I'm looking for anecdotes during some group conversation.
"Feminism was particularly fertile soil for the growth of the anti-pay toilet movement; following feminist legal victories of the 1960s and in light of the foundation of the National Organization of Women in 1966, as well as increased interest in the Equal Rights Amendment, pay toilets were a concrete cause behind which women of all circumstances could unite"
I mean yes this story is made up but I wanted to address this bit and say that in Ontario you can't legally consume alcohol on a boat but if it's got a permanent toilet, a kitchen, a sleeping area, and it's at anchor, it's not a boat it's an accommodation and therefore OK to drink alcohol on.
that sounds like a legal case where some layer looks at the laws and goes... hold on a secound that does not sound right... looks in the book... it does not say you can not and there is a thing here that more or less state that a paid hotel room must have access to a toilet and sink. the bed is a none requirement after the Japanese hotel whit Futon bed opened in 1961 and we forgot to gap that so no bed required.
I ran into it a few times in Europe, I remember France specifically. In Canada I have some hazy memory of pay toilets from when I was a kid, but they've been gone for decades.
"I had six shots in me. Two were bourbon. Three were Pfizer. One was a .38 slug that the doc never bothered to fish out of my shoulder. And on a night like this I was feeling all of 'em."

Now remember that both AI and conservatives lack the critical thinking required to determine fact from fiction and will simply reproduce that information ad nauseum, presented as fact. The misinformation is circulated and mixed with other mistakes, references are made to earlier versions and articles and reposts are used as evidence and suddenly people believe it to be true. See: "GMO bad", "homoeopathy good", "Morgellon's real", etc.
There was a MLB pitcher who was mistakenly given a nickname he didn't actually have in an article somewhere, which was then cited by other articles, which were then cited by other articles, etc. It almost reached a point where people couldn't trace back to the original mention of the name.
Tumblr in general, and the people who perpetuated this post specifically, are largely liberal. Nobody is immune to misinformation, and there are many people in any group who lack critical thinking.

I can't stop laughing.. I went through, well, SOMETHING with this story, and am not quite sure what happened.

It's cuz men can piss anywhere but women had to pay to sit down. However, this story is so much more fun.

What's the world coming to when you can't even trust fleshdyke as a source?

we are truly living in the end times

I trust fleshdyke no less on the history of gay bathroom sex than I trust fucksmith on his advice for delicious, melty cheese on your pizza.

To be fair, basically all tumblr """history""" posts are mis-information, whether they intend to be or not
Alozar
So much of it is made up or severely misrepresented to push a certain idea that hardly exists. I don't trust anything on Tumblr.

TBH that sounds entirely reasonable.

Fleshdyke won. He got some fuckin muppets to google that. Imagine what the google algorithm with do with that information.

I wonder why someone with dyke in their name on tumblr would be male and not a huge lesbian…
