I mean yes this story is made up but I wanted to address this bit and say that in Ontario you can't legally consume alcohol on a boat but if it's got a permanent toilet, a kitchen, a sleeping area, and it's at anchor, it's not a boat it's an accommodation and therefore OK to drink alcohol on.

that sounds like a legal case where some layer looks at the laws and goes... hold on a secound that does not sound right... looks in the book... it does not say you can not and there is a thing here that more or less state that a paid hotel room must have access to a toilet and sink. the bed is a none requirement after the Japanese hotel whit Futon bed opened in 1961 and we forgot to gap that so no bed required.

I ran into it a few times in Europe, I remember France specifically. In Canada I have some hazy memory of pay toilets from when I was a kid, but they've been gone for decades.

There was a MLB pitcher who was mistakenly given a nickname he didn't actually have in an article somewhere, which was then cited by other articles, which were then cited by other articles, etc. It almost reached a point where people couldn't trace back to the original mention of the name.
