I recently decided to be no contact with my mom after years of emotional abuse. Before I blocked her number, I let her know that I wasn’t straight and that all the years of homophobic comments and whatnot hurt me. She pretended she didn’t know what I was talking about.

I understand your cynicism, but I posted something like this last year and had two very lovely DM conversations with a couple of folks who just really needed some good conversation from, frankly, a dude old enough to be their dad.
It's all good if it doesn't work for you, though. We all have different needs, and we all can only offer what we have. :)
