Haven't noticed much of anything in the national news about this, and nothing on here. I was a supervisor at the Beaumont, TX complex for five years, and left the company a few months ago. I feel for my guys, they bust their asses day in and day out, work 1000+ hours of OT a year in sweltering heat for a company that doesn't care. They deserve better.

Lest we forget...

I’m all for a good union but don’t forget some have done horrible things. Like teamsters. Fuck those guys

Every union is better than the teamsters.

Keep a close eye on those in charge of the unions though. They also will do business over workers interests

I wonder why media companies don't cover labor disputes much.

this is why my company has moved thousands of employees to texas...we have a union contract coming up in a year. Fuck texas every way

I have nothing of substance to add, just saw Beaumont TX- had the best fried alligator there.

While I totally support sticking it to the corporate overlords. I have to say this, do you the return of the Pinkertons?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

What do you mean return? You think union busters aren't a thing? I wanna know what rock you've been under, sounds comfy.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Pinkertons are still around.

Union strong, baby. Solidarity. If they need donations for folk on the picket lines or bail funds, post it here.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lol no way man. Those guys get paid really well and they are doing that to themselves and their community.

A company actively destroying the planet treats their workers like shit?!

Company and CEO making millions/year in PROFIT "we couldn't possibly pay anyone a living wage, impossible I say"

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Oh no, they actually pay very well, this is more to do with seniority and some other issues than raises

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait they want high wages AND to be treated human BALDERDASH HARUMPF

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And then spend $200,000,000 to keep it from happening

Member of the Power Workers Union here, unions may not be perfect but overall I trust in what they can do

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for reminding us about this one.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, it's cost the local economy? Wonder what increased wages will do for the local economy.

I saw stickers on the pumps at a gas station that had an arrow pointing to the price that said “Unions did that” - the disinfo is flowing.

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

They built the infrastructure and made a middle class possible for general automobile ownership? Indeed, they did!

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

A Facebook acquaintance posted similar Biden stickers. He's a cop, and got super pissed when I asked why he was celebrating vandalism.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Hmmmm, I wonder why corporate media doesn't want to cover pro-union material.

4 years ago | Likes 733 Dislikes 7

I think you just answered your own question.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Some do, but I think with it being in the oil and gas industry no one wants to report on it

4 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 1

We musn’t upset our oily overlords after all.

4 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 2

Their time is running out. Gotta milk it to the last drop.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably only the immediate news market, no further.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

united we bargain, divided we beg.

4 years ago | Likes 269 Dislikes 5

This is why americans gotta chill on that leftvs right bullshit.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Divided we beg, then get fired for stirring up trouble

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Pro tip: if managers try to say they'll be fired if you unionize, statistically they're more likely to be fired if it fails. Just fun fact

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That fact isn't fun at all

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sure it is. I got to watch a union-busting corpo slave lose his job because of it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe i misunderstood your fun fact. Do you mean the employee trying to unionize will be fired if it fails or the manager threatening them?

Chicago is struggling to find apprentices for trades. HVAC specifically. Starting rate is $28/ ph. Benefits are awesome. Go unions!

4 years ago | Likes 231 Dislikes 1

Friendly reminder that that's probably new construction, and if you're willing to work service the money is usually even better.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lmao, basically all of summit valley Colorado is hiring. I mean who knew like if a bunch of millionaires randomly all wanna be in one

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Specific place they can do it!! Just like where are the people who can, or even really want to going to live if they make shit and

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All the housing is more than your paycheck? Lol

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://www.housecallpro.com/learn/hvac-tech-salary/ if anyone wants to compare HVAC tech salaries across the US.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I wonder if this is residential or commercial

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HVAC 597 has 401k, pays 80% healthcare and has an HRA. They get raises just about every year. Check them out

4 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

The whole country is going to have a shortage on all trades in about a decade if the “every kid must go to college “ trend doesn’t stop

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 5

It's definitely a top option in my house. Husbands dad was in a trade, he's in a trade, sons can choose a trade too if they want

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Wish I never went. Worked 50hr/wk as a full time student to pay for it. Got burned out in <2 years and had to drop out from bad grades.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's even worse because a lot of us were raised to at least know how to do basic stuff but now we may not have pros either when we need em

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think the issue is the going to college, but the viewing of trades as a lesser form of work. We've all heard teachers cite being 1/?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A garbage as some sort of punishment. I think college is great for expanding the mind in those formative years. But we have to stop 2/?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Treating trades and trade schools as some form of poor man's job or lesser profession. They're extremely vital and important

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

UK's seeing a shortage of housiing driven partly by this. Not enough carpenters and plumbers

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plumbers here in Florida will be a problem. Recently had an issue and largest company in the area sent their youngest guy- 52.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was local chairperson in workplace. My main function was to keep company from firing people that deserved to be fired. I quit after 18 month

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 7

My last unionized job was like that. Unions serve a purpose but they also kinda suck. They stole from our overtime too

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

Yeah there's always assholes but look at it like 5% stealing a little or being dicks instead of the CEO fucking over 95% of employees

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Even when unions are crooked the businesses more than likely are as well. I’d rather have a crooked organization that can leverage power 1/?

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

In favor of the workers rather than have to fare on my own against a crooked organization that will always leverage power in favor of 2/3

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

The owners 3/3

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Right. That's was my point. Suck but serve a purpose
