Those high end prices are not high end enough.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shitty and outdated info. Also don't use the word "futureproof", even if nVidia cards age like chicken breast regardless of VRAM issues.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please take this shit down, or update it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just built my first PC, I'm lucky that I currently have the money to make it a very good one, but man it was more difficult than anticipated

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Call themselves pc masterrace, can't spell processor.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Use logical increments, that's not out dated.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The problem with PC master race is that the info needs revised every 6-12 months

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

if you actually go to their subreddit, it IS updated in time. this is just a crappy repost.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

980ti maxes out 4k at 60? Ha. Haha. Hahahahahah no. 1080 doesn't max out 4k 60 this is so bs. (Source: I have a MSI 980ti gaming 6G)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

www.logicalincrements.com, not my site but it's far more up to date than this old image and they have more tiers as well

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is outdated. No 1000 series graphics cards and no mention of Kaby Lake.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a very old reference. Outdated

9 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Some of these prices for the premium have gotten cheaper with the release of Polaris and Pascal GPUs. Also the 300 series GPUs

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To be fair, afaik the 860k beats the 8350 in single core performance.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

repost so old its outdated and a bad overall deal $ wise

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fellow computer "nerds" would already know all this

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 4

Look at me. I'm the computer nerd now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not to mention it's out dated

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I just put together a "monster" pc on newegg... 10,000 in parts without the water cooling system... 1,800 will not make a monster

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

an ork thats only crotch level is still an ork.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My R9 Fury must be defective, it plays everything I got maxed at 4K, i'll put an RMA in right away. Thanks for the protip!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

First, its outdated. Second, it wasnt any good even when it wasnt outdated.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

point whore

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just built a new machine yesterday. Strix X99, i7-6800 4.5ghz OC, GTX 1070. Beast

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This info is terrible.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My computer was $5000... BUT to be fair, it's a video editing and 3D animation PC. But godDAMN can it game.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dont use infographics like these, but particularly this one. Info is outdated and too generalized for what you need from your machine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't build from the ground up: buy an Optiplex or ThinkCentre and upgrade subsystems as required. Your mobo will be stable and get updates.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, you're a fool if you're running the OS, and even games, from anything but an SSD.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also: $200 monitor paired with a $600 graphics card? Um, no.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Replace anything that says GTX 9xx with GTX 10xx, replace anything that says R9 2xx or R9 3xx with RX 470 or RX 480.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is old news. who recommends 980s anymore?

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 2

Go for a GTX1070 instead. Same price as 980 and a vast improvement. That is if you don't want to spend $300 more to get a 1080

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do still under the implication you can get it cheap. A good card is still a good card.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I should clarify, I meant at that price point. for $600 you should save $150+ and get a 1070 or spend $50 more and get a 1080

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh yes you're right. That is something that happens frequently.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a GTX 980ti, i7-4790k, and 16GB RAM. I have to leave the case open with a table fan blowing on it to keep it cool when playing games

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What case do u have?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a stock ASUS case, it's the only thing that's hasn't been upgraded. Too small and not enough ventilation for all that power

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, well at least you understand that's the problem :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This info is already outdated.

9 years ago | Likes 449 Dislikes 3

That's because it's a repost

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think your trying to be a smart ass... maybe. But this clearly is at least a year old

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Could be less than a year. Pascal/Polaris didn't drop until around June, so a few months before it could still be 2016

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it was outdated when I saw it here like 4 months ago, too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like a very nice template, though. Add a fucking date stamp and keep it updated! What a fun project for that sub to bicker over!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So then where could we find more recent recommendations

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This! Tech moves to fast to have a list for more then a month

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 4

*too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Which is the exact argument AGAINST PC gaming in general

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PC gaming isn't exactly dictated by a generation or two of hardware. a 980ti for example will be relevant for quite a while as is the 780/ti

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My gpu is now 7 years old (radeon hd 6950) and i can play battlefield 4 etc - no probs at all x3

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And wrong, a 980 can do 4K, but not well

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

For fairness, it does say you need 2. And dual 980ti's is solid for 4k. Given that the entire 10xx series is better though, still no point.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uhh... No? A 980 will actually get ~40 fps in 1440

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

1440 is about half the pixels of 4K, so yeah ~20 FPS for 4K is "not well."

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

i understand the logic here, but double the pixels doesnt necessarily mean halving the performance. it's a big hit but not a direct ratio.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And a 1070 can do better 4K than a 980

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The 1060 probably could do 4K better. The 1060 6GB outperforms the 980 (not the 980 Ti) pretty much across the board.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In syntheitc benchmarks, yes. But in-game, the average FPS at 4K of the 980 just barely edges out the 1060.
