Thanks for all your feedback last time (and thanks @FastF0x and Amelia-reddit and everyone else who posted stuff about Lost Ember! Thanks to you we landed on fp on imgur and reddit, which is absolutely insane, we love you guys!). We asked you if you wanted to hear more about the game, so here you go :) If you want to find out more about us as a team and how we created mooneye studios, you can read about that here: http://imgur.com/gallery/qHyaa.

Lost Ember will be developed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, btw!

If you like the game, please go check out our kickstarter at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1391673869/lost-ember

Because we know that we all were disappointed by a lot of kickstarter or early-stage projects with big intentions, we want to stretch that everything you see here is actual gameplay footage as you can already see in a lot of Let’s Plays on YouTube. We don’t promise an insanely huge world with procedural anything ;) We are just 5 guys and we very much know what we are capable of!

Also, we will do an AMA on Thursday, November 10th, @1pm EST on reddit! You can ask us anything you like about the game, being an indie dev, our favorite colors, or whatever. See you there :)

Cat tax

Now, we know you love cats. Of course you do, cats are awesome! And we really want to include cats in Lost Ember. Unfortunately that isn’t that easy, because cats are basically superheroes that can do anything. Jump, run, climb, squeeze through everything,... you catch my drift. That’s why we added the cat (along with other animals like otters, meerkats, ducks, and more) as what we call “social stretch goals”! You can help us raise attention for our kickstarter by sharing the animals you would like to see in the game at http://www.lostember.com/animals and with that help us raise the funds we need for implementing these animals!

fp edit: this is awesome, just woke up and now we're on fp :D thanks everyone for upvoting! We're gonna post some new gameplay footage soon!

No gameplay though? Just a gimmicky interactive story like everything else? Okay.

Kickstarter with the "rewards" you have is really just a preorder deal

No problem, now make us an awesome game! ^^

will do ;)

I... I'm in love

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

<3

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've already backed you for the sole reason that it features a wolf. If you decide to give a portion to wolf conservation I'll double it!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell, I'll triple my contribution to lost ember if a part of the projects profits go to wolf conservation

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's actually a really great idea! I will talk to the other guys about that tomorrow!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I really hope to hear back that you guys decide to do that! Thank you for replying and for taking my suggestion to heart!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This looks fuckin' awesome and I can't wait to play it.

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Wow! This is gorgeous! I really want it!

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

thanks! :) we do our best to bring it to you as soon as possible :)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Really though! I'm going to back this up in Kickstarter, I just need some time to organize my money. XP

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

awesome thanks! :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've never liked/participated in any kickstarter. I just pledged 20 euros. This looks amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

wow, thanks! :D

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How large will the map be? Can you give me a scale? It is really important for this kind of game.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That still changes a lot during testing (if you see how fast certain animals are you see if you have to make the world bigger) 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What I can tell you is that we are aiming at 5hrs gameplay for the main story and a couple of extra hours for optional content

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What if we compare with the Skyrim map? Half? More?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm so happy to see this pop up every time. This labor of love definitely commands attention whenever it's around

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This is the first I'm hearing of this game, and I'm already debating putting in the money to get my name on the wall of heroes.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

you definitely should :P the wall of heroes will be pretty cool, we thought of a really nice little story twist there :)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Holy shit, wow. I honestly never play video games, like, ever. But I just donated. This looks absolutely amazing and I want to play it

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow, thanks very much! :D

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funded for the 39 version, looks amazing. Can't wait!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you very much! :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why do I think I'm gonna be burned again like No Man's Sky?

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

German accuracy? Idk..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Because we were. I also got burned by Star Forge. Fucking CodeHatch.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, a walking simulator basically?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We do have things like environmental puzzles or multiple ways to get through areas. But no combat or really hard puzzles, if you mean that

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Thats one thing that worries me a little, the story and art look great, but it needs gameplay too, not just walking around to see the story.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I disagree. The way LE is right now is perfectly fine to me. Maybe you just need more challenging games then C:

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, that. Add something so there's a reason to play, not just watch ;)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Ever heard of a game called Journey?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was clever enough to be rather experienced by than watched because of the skill based nature, minimalist art and such. But yes, walking

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So it's a newer, better Space Station Silicone Valley. Take my money, and my childhood dreams.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I definitely have to get my old n64 and find that game somewhere, so many people talking about it^^

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah! That's exactly what I thought too!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 717 Dislikes 10

Makes me think of the game parasite on Nitrome, but much more in depth.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

This one is off and it is getting to me...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

So we can be a wolf, bird of color, mole, fish and maybe a cat, unlock different structures, and find secrets, all while wind8ng up a story

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Well....neat. I hope you expand based on the kickstarter

The graphics are absolutely stunning, the style actually reminds me some-what of Project Spark's style. Defiantly will be checking it out.

9 years ago | Likes 261 Dislikes 3

Don't listen to these chumps, stand proud and hold your ground!

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

underappreciated

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you mean definitely?

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

so many people cant even spell or even recognize the difference between these two words, and theyre choosing the president...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Despite the fact I can actually spell, and do know the difference. I am not voting this year, so no worries there. ;^)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HAHA. Actually I did, I used google chrome's Auto-fill in feature, didn't even realize it used defiantly instead of definitely. -_-

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why defiantly, what's your beef?

9 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 2

Maybe there's someone trying to stop him from checking it out whom he will be defying?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn them. I hope Shadowfigure makes it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I died.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Playing Dark Souls i see?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I died again.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

thanks! :) gonna have to check out project spark then!

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Project Spark was a Microsoft Game-developing sandbox client. Discontinued sadly. Think ill save up and buy this to play on my Stream though

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

No Switch compatibility? D:

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We don't know too much about the specs yet, so we can't promise anything. But will definitely look into it and I think it should be possible

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Nintendo fanboy, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it possible to play as the mighty fish or Buffalo

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes my computer will definitely be able to run this. Definitely no problem with my integrated graphics card. Yep. It's the worst thing ever.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've wanted a game like this since a was a child. Thank you. You have my support.

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

I played "such" a game: In Jill of the Jungle, you can transform into a few animals to reach certain areas in a wilderness environment. :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

thank you very much :) and us too!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I want to play!!!! When will it be available? Can you estimate?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's still a while, we're planning to release in early 2018.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh that's too much waiting! Good luck to you and your teammates. Hope to see more stuff here on Imgur.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I know... but there's still lots to do and we better want to take time to make it awesome! And sure, maybe we show a little more soon

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So..... is this going to be another No Man's Sky?

9 years ago | Likes 223 Dislikes 22

No man's sky? More like, no guy buy!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

No Man's was great, if you turned a blind eye to all the over Hype and picked it up for what it was. Space exploration resource farmer

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Woah woah man. Woah. Show some decorum..

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

never per order again

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

That was my exact thought when I saw the first gif

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

No, it's another Space Station Silicon Valley

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

yes c: I instantly thought about dis one

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like Flower but with animals.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I was just going to say the terrain very much reminded me of flower

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the game looks cool and all, but like in NMS, you can only just explore and look at stuff for so long before it gets boring.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Yeah, trusting anything after No Man's Sky has become risky. I remember their posts on Imgur that got everyone hyped. Never again.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Animals' Sky!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I dont think it has to be. The issue with unfinished games thieving gamers for early access cash is unfortunate, but lets face it: swindlers

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

are everywhere. Caveat Emptor. Wait for, and check the reviews from others. See what the NEGATIVE reviews say. Watch the Youtube lets play.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Only when you make an informed purchase can you assure that your getting what you want. If you want it so bad you dont have time for that,

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

then you are gambling. The price of the gamble is that you get fleeced by scammers and failures.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like no man's sky if no man's sky developers knew what they were doing

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Is this a compliment?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 for you! I saw your comment when it had -1, that's why I asked

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely not, we don't promise anything we can't deliver! And we already have actual gameplay footage online: https://youtu.be/hUgH4qVNXH0

9 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 4

Ofcourse you're going to say no lol 'Yes we're another No Man's Sky guys. Buy our game anyway, though.'

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

When can i buy it?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It looks like a walking simulator, is there anything else to do but wander around the place as animals?

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

I mean... I'd still buy it.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

yea im sure alot will, seems like abzu or journey. But they aren't my kinda games thats why im asking, want puzzles or something atleast.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you know you can deliver? I have worked on 11 games as pro and 5 as indie, and what you're promising is really hard. Skeptic here.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

It definitely is, no need to downvote. But that's why we worked on it for about 2 years (part time) before we went to kickstarter.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And our world is 100% handcrafted and not generated. that way we can ensure the level of quality that we want to achieve in our games :)

9 years ago | Likes 180 Dislikes 1

that's nice, but what is there to DO in this game? I get that it's a beautifully designed world with many ways to explore, but is there 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2/2 anything to do other than explore? The lack of actual goals or objectives is a big part of why No Man's Sky failed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's mainly story-driven. So you won't wander around wondering what to do. There will always be the next big story part to find and play

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good response.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's great but do remember to include a plot/objective. That was wear NMS really failed!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So will there be PC support? I might be reading it wrong but sounds like it's only console.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, we will release it for PC as well :) We've just been greenlit on Steam 2 weeks ago

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah excellent thanks.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it going to be on steam? That's the most convenient way to buy it for me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is :) we've been greenlit 2 weeks ago :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congrats, you've already done better than the NMS team could do!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's amazing, looking forward to spring 2018! Need an intern? Game artist.

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

You can definitely send us your portfolio :) not explicitly looking atm, but maybe we can figure something out :)

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Hey, I've never had a job in my life. If you need someone to not do anything for no pay, I'm already on the team.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey man, I used to cook. I can make some mean food and have PR experience. looking for a cook/PR rep? NMS didn't have either.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm a writer who has been trying to get into developing repeatedly with friends, finding a good team is unbelievably hard

9 years ago | Likes 628 Dislikes 9

Getting longterm commitment is a hard thing to do from the new generation.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 8

I wish i could werk on sthing besides my mc hp server but not many good games coded in java

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is aye, we needed someone that was more pushy for deadlines, and focused on keeping everyone on track

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Munch?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can confirm.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My small team and i have been looking for a writer who will mesh well with our style. We have several XBLA games under our belts too :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd be willing to check out what you have going, at the very least it's fun to get more practice!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow you and your buddy must be experts.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're based out of the Detroit area, DM me!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try being a programmer in a city where there is no one to team up with and every project so far has been a drop.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you have a great idea, learn the skills to bring it to life, or it wasn't that great.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

many really great ideas require many specialists, no man's sky is a great example of a good idea that fell flat because of the wrong team

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It wasn't a good idea, it was a novel idea, it was doomed to be boring as fuck.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Game dev hobbyist here. Starting a project, working on it for 3 months, then getting sidetracked by another idea. Story of my life

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

the fact that you make it 3 months is amazing, every project i've worked on dies a month in

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

:( it helps to have a team so we can keep motivating each other, but real life gets in the way

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you made it to three months? I hardly manage to focus on it past the first git commit

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The struggle is real man. Every time a new asset pack for Unreal comes out I have to start a new project haha

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No offense but software/game developers hear the 'I have a gr8 idea, let's make it a game' a lot. Your idea may be awesome (it is) 1/

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

But developers are typically hesitant be a use people lose interest and it can really wear at your relationship

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not trying to bash you for having ideas, developers just hear it a lot. Don't give up though

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

no i fully get that, typically what it is, is i get some people who show interest in developing, we talk out an idea and i put in a ton (1)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

of effort, even trying to help them with some coding but they just slowly lose interest, god help me i take a day off pushing and it's(2)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Although it is hard to do well, writing is the easiest part to do. Anyone can try and think it is good. That makes yours a tough sell.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Every director thinks they're a writer too. So many are not.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A lot of writers aren't, as well.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, ideas are cheap, and gameplay is arguably the most important. You can write, but can you design a game, or implement? 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do games programming which is a course that focuses on scripting and making things work together in a game engine, and being able to 2/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

implement ideas and make them work with the premise is the real challenge. Not saying your idea is bad, but as well as getting someone 3/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

on board with your idea, you have to convince them it's going to make a good game too, and a game they would want to make and play. 4/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good software developers, much less good software developers who specialize with working in game engines, AND you have to bring them 5/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Am a VR dev, and finding people who share your passion in VR doesn't take long.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I think VR is something i want to avoid, i feel like it's something that may not actually function for regular gaming for a long time

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Fucking tell me about it. I'm a world-builder. I keep trying to find people to help me turn the worlds I make into actual stories. xD

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

:p do you mean world building like level designing or like you build overarching world stories?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I mean I design worlds. History, races, political structures, religion, currency, culture, customs, beliefs...

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

ahh yeah that's always the most fun part of it all, the worst is probably making dialogue, god help me if i have to write more exposition

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Making dialogues takes a huge part of the development process. It's essentially writing, rewriting, checking, rewriting again, ect

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck me, I HATE dialogue.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Probably because small teams need developers. I'm working on a game, and my friend who also codes is an English major. Writing is covered.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

everyone thinks they're a writer but you can tell when a game has a dedicated writer and when it doesn't 7/10 times

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More than 7/10 games are shitty anyways and a writer wouldn't have saved them. The need just isn't there. Learn to program.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i know how to program, i'm garbage at art

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You aren't going to get anywhere with that attitude mister

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that's definitely the hardest and most important part! just keep on going to meetups, gamejams, and whatever.

9 years ago | Likes 243 Dislikes 0

This looks like it's going to visually stunning. Here's to hoping I'll play it in 1440 at 144fps!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are pretty much none around here (Slovenia; that I know of, at least). Been trying to find some good co-devs for aeons by now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh okay... yeah, finding the right team mates is always hard. Are there any gamejams or things like that near you?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not that I'd know of (and I did check). I do know some people online, but that's EXTREMELY unreliable (and just about all are busy anyways).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a pure challenge right there, no matter how hard you fight these indie people are always so...non-committal

9 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

yeah, that's true. not easy finding folks who stick around if it's not going perfectly from the beginning (and it never does, of course) 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I actually founded another company few years ago with someone who was extremely motivated at first but then left me hanging after a year 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

What is your role and the roles of your partners? You all programmers? I'd like to start a project like this, but my experience is legal

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i'm sorry man. I wish i could go ahead and join you guys but i don't know if i'd be any use to you :p

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1
