My hero just became superhero

Oct 3, 2016 4:35 PM

This cutie pie walked in our life yesterday. My SO spotted her at the parking lot at work in the morning. By noon, she found her way inside his workplace. He tried to give her food to lure her out (it's a restaurant, so a stray cat isn't something people want to see). She ate it all but wouldn't leave the place, kept rubbing herself against him. He decided to take her home.

This is after a warm shower. I noticed some scabs fell off. She kept licking the wounds.

I put her on the window sill for some warm sunlight and saw how badly injured she is, so I decided to take her to the vet.

The doctor was nice enough to see her since it wasn't business hour, he's only there to clean up. I found out she is about 4 months old, very underweight, only half of what she's supposed to. Her temperature was low, it started getting cold here, that's why she wanted to be indoor.

The vet wanted to run some test, needed to draw some blood but couldn't find any vein on her skinny front legs. She put up a little fight, to which he said it was a good sign, it means she hasn't given up yet. No leukemia, yay!

He got her hair clipped, it's even worse than I thought. He found a BB gun pellet on her. How could people be so cruel to a tiny creature like this?

Getting comfy here in the makeshift bed. As soon as I put her there, she started kneading and purring. I played her some smoothing music for sleeping, I wanted her to know she will be loved and spoiled from now on.
I always wanted a cat, but my SO is allergic to them. It's our routine, I would beg for one, we get to the shelter and he keeps sneezing, eyes get watering, then I feel so bad and leave empty handed. I guess we had to wait for this one to adopt us. He hasn't sneezed once, she's still in quarantine thou, we haven't done much snuggle. Even though he's a dog person, he's already smitten with her. He wanted to call her Kitty, and then Catty when she's older.

Napping by the sunlight. That's what she does, sleep then eat then sleep again. Poor baby, must be exhausted trying to survive this cruel cruel life.

Insta good karma right there OP

People are cruel to animals because they're budding psycopaths. Law enforcement now tracks that shit because perps will usually get worse.

SOMEONE DID WHAT TO HER?!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congratulations. You are humaning correctly.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are now my super hero! Thank you for taking in this adorable animal in need, the world needs more people like you in it.

Look into allergy shots. I'm serious. I used to be very allergic to cats and now I'm not

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

always upvote rescue stories. thank you both for being awesome

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm also allergic to animals and I have 5. Once daily allergy over the counter Med should help. Just throwing that out there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i,m convinced this is how all the cats adpot their owners. This is how i found my two cats. Fuckers ran up to be pretending to be dying

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How is Catty?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i see you lost your hoodie to her already! so cute

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cat allergies are usually caused by the cat licking the fur, not the fur itself. wipe the cat down with allergy wipes to remove the protein.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People who hurt little love floofs like this make me want too go out and find them; So I can torture them... grrr... I don't really 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Want to torture anybody. I just wish people would be more empathetic to other bring and realize hurting others doesn't help anything

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as someone who is allergic to cats yet lives with them the only reason he says he likes the cat is because he loves you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Buy your SO a 20 year supply of allergy medication!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you're good people

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Since she's a kitten your SO may grow immune to her and not react to her as she grows since kittens have less dander than older cats. >

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It worked for us, SO is very allergic, got a kitten @ 6 weeks SO was fine. Got another kitten @ about 6-8 weeks SO still fine 4 yrs later.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Someone I know found his cat with a bb gun pellet. Seems to be a trend among psychopaths.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aww our old cat had a BB in his forehead too. He was kind of an asshole. We aren't sure which came first: the assholism or the BB.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We did have it removed and treated him kindly, by the way. Even though he wasn't the best. He now lives a life of gluttony with my grandma.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have one small quibble with your SO: Once Kitty, always Kitty.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

By the way! There are liquids you can wipe your cat with (one brand is Allerpet) that at least some folks say help diminish the dander shed.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But that aside, who the fuck shoots a BB gun at a kitten?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wait, feeding a cat doesn't make it go away?! I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Also, good job on the rescue.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He left the food tray outside to lure her out.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tricky.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You guys are awesome fucking people. Really.

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

I keep thinking the same. Even playing music for the little kitty. Poor thing found the right people though, a happy ending

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think I'm allergic. My eyes are watering now too

It's a terrible day for rain

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I think it's contagious.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I have mild allergies, and do own a cat. Bathing them regularly will minimize any allergic issues...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Fuck I read "beating them regularly" and I was super confused for a second there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right now we just wait for her recovery. Thanks for the tip!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

tip on bathing op - get tub with soapy water and slowly lower her into it, if she freaks, stop. spraying them usually doesnt go well.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since she is a kitten allergies won't be bad. The Walmart brand Claritin fixes me up so I can love my cats. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

2/2 tell him to not to touch his eyes after loves from the cat, no antihistamine will save him from that. - source : grew up with cats.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the tip!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's strange I find that kittens aggravate my allergies way more than grown cats :s I wonder if it's just in my head?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm the same way, I've been working many years in a cat sanctuary so I've had lots of chances to test this theory. Kittens are worse for me

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good on you two for rescuing a stray.

9 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

And may life shit upon whoever shot her. I hope karma gets the fucker.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't know if she's ever been indoor, but as soon as we got her the litter bin, she knew to do her business then and there. So smart :)

Uploaded a pick of my Greebo

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We brought in a stray male who looked like a lion, scarred up, nicked ears, 15lbs of muscle. Biggest baby ever, loves cuddles, purrs always

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I want picture of said lion please. Kitty got long hair too, I hope that won't flare up the allergy.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

lol it's been 10 years, now he just looks like a lazy fat grey cat. We have no clue how old he is, they thought he was at least 5 or 6

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

When we adopted him, but it's hard to tell if he's getting lazier because he's always slept about 23hrs a day.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm deathly allergic to cats but I started seeing someone who has one. Now I pop benadryl an hour before and then snuggle-bomb the cat.

Zyrtec / Cetirizine works better. 1 small pill for 24 hours. Cetirizine is at Wally world and much cheaper than Zyrtec (name brand).

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My brand! I had to go through shots as a kid. All the major brands are now available over the counter. What a time to be alive.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Snugglebomb is my new favorite phrase.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Im allergic, I got a Siberian forrest cat, they are supposedly as hypoallergenic as it gets, Im perfect around her, check them out

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Get immunization shots. Takes 1-3 years, but works for most folks. I never got a cat, but totally worth it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you get drowsy from the pills? I hope if he cruises through a short while, it would be better.

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Not all cats trigger the same allergic reaction. I've fostered dozens, and some are worse than others.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it gets better in time. I was super allergic to my bf's cat and now I snuggle him daily. Still get sniffles but my eyes don't burn!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Staying around animals does seem to reduce allergic reactions. My partner is allergic, but she's had a dog and now we have a cat just fine

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My girlfriend gets a monthly shot and she is fine with our cats and dog. Otherwise she is deathly allergic

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i'm allergic to cats, but zyrtec works really well for me and with no side effects

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

24hr Claritin (non-drowsy), monthly kitty bathtime, & cleaning any hair-trapping surface biweekly has allowed me to keep two kitties!

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

That loratadine (active ingredient) is some impressive stuff. I've had reactions to dust, and it clears that up easily.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And if you have carpet rent a deep cleaner/shampooer every now and then. Gets all that hair out!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My housemate was really allergic to cats, now she's 100% fine with mine! She attributes it to a shamanic experience on ayowaska (true story)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

From a less supernatural perspective I'd say her body may have become more tolerant to it. That can happen with repeated exposure.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, at a basic scientific/psychological level a positive outlook towards exposure can affect results too!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

+1 for the Shakespearean reference. Also, damn straight.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

yeah, I get drowsy but it's worth it. Only thing is the cat can't be on the sheets/pillows and I wash constantly. It's manageable.

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

We did our best to keep her comfortable in her new bed, laced with catnip, personal heater, short distance from food and water.

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

keep the cat out of your bedroom. Will make 1000% easier to live with when someone has allergies.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

This times a million. Having your sleeping spot be cat-free helps. My boyfriend is allergic; this is the rule with our cats.
