So 3 moths ago, i volunteered at a con (it was awesome!). volunteered both days and gave my free passes to my sister n her hubby.
she tells me how much better comic con is (depends who you want to see) and asks if she were to buy tickets for me and my 5 yr old son (who loves everything avengers, batman, and superman) would we like to go (they go every year no matter what).... meh (i volunteered the con i did for reasons)... but the kid would have a blast, so... hell yes!
finally tell the kid last weekend (it's easier not to make kids be hyped for months and just tell them shortly before, and allows for avoiding disappointment...). ask who he wants to dress up as, expecting iron man, says superman so he doesn't have to wear a mask (nice).
con is this saturday... text sis to ask what time to meet at her house... 'so is it just you right? didn't buy the kids ticket just in case.'... "the kid is the only reason i was going..." ... ... ... 'it's going to be a mad house, maybe *kids dad* could hang with him outside'... ... ... maybe the 5 year old, who is the one who actually cares about this, can stand outside the venue with his father, while i wait in lines with you for autographs of actors i could give or take..... ... ... i think we're going camping this weekend. >:/

Sorry about all that. You should put your foot down if at all possible and get the kid into the con, if that's what he wants most.
