I would soak the body in a nice mix of Ethanol and Methylene chloride. Should get you down to bare metal within minutes !

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Stop! Just, stop..... Perfect! ?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For anyone confused the cars body is fiber glass and not metal.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

isnt that meant to be fiber glass?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh you'll get to metal--support bracketts, frame rails, etc.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But have developed a nasty chest cough, for some reason…

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Previous owner used a TON of bondo, keep at it! ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

?

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 6

this flew over a lot of peoples heads

I love cars that you have to crawl/fall into.

OH SWEET JESUS

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fiberglass deathtraps.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 6

It is probably stronger than the metal on most modern cars. The bumpers are the same.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Id rather have crumple zones on the car instead of my body

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

They are fiber glass guy....

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If only there was a clue in the title..

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is funny because Chevrolet had so much paint on it?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Body is made of fiberglass panels, not metal.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh. Ok.Thanks for that info!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's going on in this picture?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Corvettes of that year have fiberglass body panels not metal

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

All corvettes of every year have fiberglass bodies.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In fact, Corvettes of every year have fiberglass body panels

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Get a belt sander, goes way faster ?

5 years ago | Likes 205 Dislikes 1

just sandblast it and move on with your day

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

If you take that down to the bare metal, all you have left is a frame and an engine block

5 years ago | Likes 142 Dislikes 9

And then it'll be time for the REAL fun to begin. Vette-kart anyone?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm. Intriguing. The person making the image didn't know this and posted it for guidance on this topic. Thank you.

Very nice car! Love stingray's!

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

*Stingrays

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

You should look into how much of a piece of shit this thing is

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

this is so saddening, I've fantasized about a stingray since I was a kid

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep dreaming of a 1964 split window

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It actually hates cancer patients.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've been in a bad mood, but this made me laugh.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Could you point a guy in the right direction?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most everything is a bust. If you can get a Corvette for $5k then you know it's an issue

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do I have to ruin the fun for everyone who don't know it's not metal body panels?

5 years ago | Likes 197 Dislikes 5

Fiberglass

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, now we know it's a joke. I didn't before

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I mean I didn’t, but the title?

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It's not fun for us who don't get it. That how inside jokes work!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Only a few knew the truth that he zr series has fiberglass

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thank you for ruining it for me, I didn't understand what was going on.

5 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 2

That's what the title is for, for literate humans at least.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Keep going. You’ll know when you get there

5 years ago | Likes 322 Dislikes 2

A test of his “mettle” ;-)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate it when people tell me I'll know it when it happens. Please don't underestimate my capacity for ineptitude.

5 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Incorrect use of Bondo.

5 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 8

Fiberglass body....no metal to get to

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

I know... but the Bondo... it's done all wrong.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

use 30-40 grits, it will go way faster

5 years ago | Likes 697 Dislikes 9

good

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Use 1/100 grit and it'll be gone in no time

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(that's hitting it with a 1.9m-diameter rock)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How many hogs is that?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No use 5000 grit it will take years lol

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gotta have a hobby to keep you away from the kids.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read this as "girls" and had several questions

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just drive into a dust storm. Problem solved.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 5

I've heard of grits just never actually seen grits

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's available at any Waffle House. Just walk in and tell them you need grits for your car, they'll hook ya up.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yoots.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How coarse sandpaper is oh, different grades for different projects

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What grit is a fist sized rock because you gotta be close

5 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 1

16grit should work. Used it on bowling ally’s and basketball courts

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember when we still had wood lanes. Ran out of wood to do the routine cuts. Had to make the switch to synthetic lanes after that...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Picture for reference, in case anyone was wondering what that looked like

5 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 2

Man it's been a while since I've had some grits. Now I want grits.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s way more than 30-40

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Love me some Mitch

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still baffles the mind that someone decided to make what is effectively sand out of corn and then somehow convince people its an edible food

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Grits? Grits are the shit buddy! Shrimp and grits with XO sauce and hot sauce is very hard to beat

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s like eating buttery sand man. Can’t do em. Ever since I was little

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least it's the worst Corvette

The '83 was the best

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

C3s make awesome restomods

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The C3 is the prettiest of all the Vettes.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So like, a Corvette?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They look cool, but they are terrible.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Shutcho mouth! 84 is the worst.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You can do cool things with one. My dad and I are building a '78 with a 68 L88 theme. In 68 the same chassis had the L88 427 with 600+hp.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

L88 was closer to ~550, with Chevy claiming 435.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The one at pure stock drags that won the event a few years back dynoed at 603. Granted, that one was perfect, but still. What a beast!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He should sand that down to trash compactor

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

God, why can’t they just go back to making the 50’s models?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ford tried that with the Thunderbird. It was pretty terrible.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck, when was this? The ‘57 T-bird is my favorite car.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Early 2000's, late 90s I think? It wasn't awful, it just wasn't nearly as sexy as the C1.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trashing the C3 for being the unfortunate generation to live through the oil crisis is an unnecessary insult.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

454s do drop right into C3s or so Ive been told....they suddenly get less slow

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's fair, but when your V8 makes like 200HP there's a lot to be said. =/

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That goes right back to the restrictions placed on it in a matter of months. It took until the C4 for GM to get decent power w/ regulations

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not as tho GM developed a whole new engine to meet emissions standards. They had to make the existing design compliant.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For the Corvette the result of the oil crisis was the development of the LT1. It took years to develop that engine. If they had a magic wand

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try 165HP in the '75.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The C4 has entered the chat.

5 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 4

C3's are only good for munchkins under 5'8" who like the look of a melted batmobile

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

C4 at least had the ZR1 leading the way for the c6/7 versions. The t-top era had the most horrific design, performance & economy.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

While the 98 pace car was pretty horrific, as well as the 84 - I think the worst ones were gen 1. Gaudy & underpowered. If the late 60s >

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Cars weren’t made, they would never have attained the mystique that they have. C5 and newer are without a doubt the best

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

In terms of performance, not looks.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean both

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'd take one over these C3 abominations any day of the week.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 13

The C3 is my favorite body style. With some sidepipes... damn fine looking. Besides, everything sucked in the 70s.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

But the C3 started in 1969.... also they sucked the power out of everything in 75. 72 and under are the best vettes.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Started in 68. 68-72 had the chrome front and rear bumpers.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your mom sure did

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

If she did then how did he get here? ???

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Early c3 were beautiful & were monsters for circuit racing, but the 2and half of c3 was the Worst versions made aside from specific models.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Frankly I find late c1-c2 were my favorite, dominating with the split rear window & side pipes. Hard to get a more iconic model

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

71 and earlier C3's were beasts. HP dropped from 350 to 180 with federal low compression engines.
