Digital, 11" x 17"

Edit: Wow! I wasn't expecting so much positive response-- I've never made it out of usersub before! Thanks everyone :)

If you want to read about how I made it, I detailed the process on my blog yesterday: http://www.ivanpottersmith.com/blog/2016/11/14/painting-daily-tie-fighters-in-the-sunset

Shhhhh... I can hear them. Bravo op, well done!

Where are the stars tho?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thought that scene was a nice apocalypse now homage, even with the discontinuity

If you painted a TIE interceptor, I'd make 10 more accounts to up vote it. Amazing work.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ooooh I should do that. The interceptors are my favorite SW ship

8/10, I'd hang on my wall.

Not a Star Wars fan, but this is pretty cool

Much appreciated!

This I like. Others often have a big talent, but showing it via 1:1 copy of something (like Kylo Ren with lighsaber pose). Kudos.

Serious question. Can tie fighters fly in atmosphere?.. Can they generate lift? Aren't they for space flight only?...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Basically all spacecraft have repulsorlifts, the same antigravity technology that Luke's landspeeder uses, but on a more powerful scale

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's implied that all space fighters can be atmospheric fighters, but not vice versa. Snowspeeders, for example, are atmospheric-only.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even if they're not aerodynamic (Millennium Falcon, for example), spacecraft can generate enough thrust to just plow through the atmosphere.

Great job!

Hmm?

I love it. Mad talent. Don't hate me for saying this but I kinda wish their was two suns in the backdrop though. That would have set it off.

There* shit

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well this is a scene from star wars the force awakens on jakku, so there wouldn't be two suns anyway

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Actually if I remember correctly it's the scene when the first order capture Rey on Takodona (planet where asshole eyes lived)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh didn't realize it was from an actual scene. That makes perfect sense in that case.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the comment! It would be fun to do a Tatooine version :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apparently this scene is a discontinuity in the movie, but jj Abrams liked the visual so much he didn't care

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

A discontinuity?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think he means incontinuity.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You mean it clashes with the rest of the plot? How so? The number of TIE-fighters?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have no idea.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait... Does it take place in a scene where the sky is otherwise mid-day blue, or something?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The First Order attacks Takodana in the middle of the day, then cut to this shot, then cut back to Takodana in the middle of the day.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Maybe they dropped into orbit further around the planet.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh man, how did I never notice that?! XD
