Rey Theories

Theory #1: Luke's Daughter. I honestly think this is the most likely of all the proposed theories. Too many similarities between Anakin/Luke's stories to hers. The consistent hinting especially with Maz Kanata saying the lightsaber was Anakin’s, Luke’s, and now her's. This could help add to the reasoning as why Luke is in exile. Out of shame going against the jedi way of having a child? To protect her by disassociating himself with her? If I had a child and the largest target on my back in the galaxy, I might want to hide her far away from me. C’mon it’s a story of the skywalker’s from the get go.

Theory #2: Han/Leia's daughter. I think this could actually be a likely scenario. When Maz and Han are about to discuss who Rey is, they quickly cut to the next scene. I believe this hints that Han knows who she is and one likely scenario could be his daughter. "Why didn't anyone like Leia say anything or do something crazy when she say her". I feel like the way it came across could easily be spun to accommodate future plot holes. Maybe they are purposefully hiding knowledge of this to prevent any reveal to her of her true origins. Maybe they just aren't aware of who she is. Either way I believe it is a likely possibility.

Theory #3: Maybe her parents are nobodies and she is a student of Luke. Well why did she say that she thought Luke was a myth? Well perhaps to hide her true origins from others. Maybe she had a mind wipe from Luke. This would help explain her competency with the force when confronting Kylo.

If she is not related to anyone important or at the very least a student of luke, then we get an issue of “why all the build and no punch?” There has to be some big reveal with her origins and who knows, they may take an unexpected twist that no one saw coming. The possibility of an Obi-Wan or someone similar is next to impossible due to the age constraints (Rey is most likely a post Endor Battle baby).

Knights of Ren

Theory #1: A group of force sensitives trained in the dark side. An added bonus would be if some of these were Luke's pupils adding to his reason for exile. We don’t have much on them but what we can see from the movie is that they were holding an assortment of weapons. This may be used as a counter argument against that theory but they could be force imbued weapons. If this is the case, did Snoke lead them all into the dark or did Kylo?

Theory #2: A group of non-force sensitives that are Darth Vader fanatics and want to hunt the remaining jedi. In order for them to be in a group like “The Knights of Ren”, one would assume that they are great warriors of some kind. I believe this to be the most likely due to the lack of lightsabers by the others

Snoke

Theory #1: Darth Plagueis. Ok ok ok. We’ve all heard it but could it be true? If he is not Darth Plagueis, I would be surprised. Similar physical features to that of Darth Plagueis in the now non-canon Expanded Universe (EU). Scars that depict survival of a severe attack and Emperor Palpatine stated he murdered Plagueis. Emperor Palpy also stated that Plagueis could prevent people from dying but not himself. What if he was wrong? He survived in the EU. Perfect reason for the resurgence of Plagueis the wise. And recent analysis of the soundtrack of Snope’s scenes is eerily similar to that of when Palpatine is talking about Plagueis.

Theory #2: Another Famous Dark Lord? Some more farfetched theories have stated that he could be someone from an ancient time that either survived physically or has transferred his mind at some point to survive. Some famous ancient Sith have been known to do this… Darth Bane, Exar Kun, etc…

Theory #3: No known affiliation with any previous character in Star Wars literature/entertainment. This is what JJ was kinda hinting at and maybe they are attempting to just create another Evil Villian from scratch. I think this is probably going to happen but I would prefer it to be Plagueis.

Cool Concept #1: Snoke (Makes more sense if he was in fact Plagueis) orchestrated everything seen in the star wars films. He allowed palpy to think he was dead and build an empire. Perhaps orchestrated the rebellion and figured it would allow for an easy take over an already formed empire. Why do the heavy lifting? Just get your former apprentice to do it. Another part of that is, what if Plagueis (who has the ability to essentially create life) created Anakin through the force? I don’t know how I would feel about that notion yet…

Cool Concept #2: Snoke Trains/Tests Kylo. Snoke mentions at the end of the movie that it is time to complete Kylo’s training. What if Snoke is a dark lord and already has an apprentice? Snoke then decides to test/complete his training to become a sith by killing his apprentice. Something we haven’t seen before… a duel between two Siths… the potential for epicness. #SITHBOWL Get Hyped!

Your thoughts?

I'd like to hear more theories about the above topics or even ones not being discussed.

Disney released footage for that Disney:Infinity crap and there's a scene where Kylo Ren shouts "fight me cousin!" to Rey. Someone's fired

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope he says "Fight me!" And then "Curses"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still waiting for the Revan connection

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was considering Deena Shan as the mother. Same surname as Bastila who did have a kid with Revan.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snoke is jar jar binks

10 years ago | Likes 922 Dislikes 16

Smoke is Darth binks apprentice.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is he most likely possibility. We are all well aware of Binks is capacity for evil.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if he's Palpy and he looks different cause he was thrown by Vader but actually survived? I don't think it will be that tho too much him

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Darth Darth Binks

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No that's gollum. That's what happens when you fall into the fire pit of mount doom.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stupid hobitsies

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

No no you got it all wrong; Jar Jar Binks is Snoke.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

"Jar Jar is the key"

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My buddy knows a friend who's JJ's cousin and he told his mother that everytime spring comes they like to walk in the park. IceCream

10 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 3

Luis from antman?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who told you?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking knew it.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I sometime feel that this is just a movie and in fact did not happen long ago in a galaxy far away.

10 years ago | Likes 365 Dislikes 31

UNBELIEVER!!! KILL THE HEATHEN!!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Enjoy hell

10 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

I think it is a movie, but happening in future. The last scene had tanks on the rocks. I think Luke is on Earth.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What a dumb idea

10 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 0

I wonder about that line. Is SW supposed to be our galaxy's future, or does the other galaxy have very human-looking aliens?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They said the planet ran on the sun's power and as far as I know ours is the only star with that name.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The second thing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cancelled novel that told the origins of humans in the SW galaxy was neat, it also included the first skywalker and how (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hutts became the horrifiying slugs. Essentially a group of humans fled our galaxy from an insane A.I. via wormhole and ended up on Corelia.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ever think we consumed all this planets resources once before and were reborn (over time) with new resources being grown?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, and that we're (humans) are doing it again...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The planet Luke was on had some really tank looking things.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sith is not synonymous with darkside users. The Sith were the primary users of the darkside for thousands of years, but they are just an /1

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Organization like the Jedi. I hope Snoke isn't Plageous, because the Sith are finally over. It seems that the Knights of Ren are the new /2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Darkside users, which means the rule of 2 is no more. We may be seeing lots of Knights against a couple Jedi in the next movies.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Knights of Ren: don't care. Rey and Snoke: hope they are original characters, but current prediction is Rey will be Luke's kid and 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

she was placed into hiding for protection when Kylo went rogue. Snoke I predict will be an original character. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

But Kylo and Rey seem so close in age, she wouldn't have needed protection until way after she was left on Jakku

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

IRL Driver is 9 years older than Ridley, but they could go in any direction with relative ages, so it's hard to say.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snoke is Gollum.

10 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

I'm not downvoting you, I just have no way to downvote Andy Serkis's played out voice. Love the man, but try something new!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, the actor that played Gollum played Snoke? Wow. I had no clue really....

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

King Kong, also.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually had no clue that the actor that did Gollum did Snoke. I just couldn't help but see Gollum in the animated projection.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Understandable! Same actor, distinct face, even with the CG you can recognize certain features and expressions.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still feel like they could have done something to make him less Gollum-like.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snoke apparently has identity issues.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snoke is a acoustic hologram created by Klaw.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And Caesar from Planet of the Apes

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He sounded exactly like Caesar.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually had no clue that the actor that did Gollum did Snoke. I just couldn't help but see Gollum in the animated projection.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But now all the comments make more sense.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And King Kong

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually had no clue that the actor that did Gollum did Snoke. I just couldn't help but see Gollum in the animated projection.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So I was not the only one bothered by the fact that he looks a bit like Gollum and the actors are the same?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually had no idea that the actor was the same! I just couldn't help but see Gollum in the artwork!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

GOD DAMN IT BOTHERS ME SO MUCH! THEY LOOK SO SIMILAR AND BOTH ARE SERKIS! It's not a bad thing that they are but it frustrates me! :D

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, knowing that, I feel like they could have done more to make him look different. Especially since I made the connection w/o knowing.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel that it is so he resembles Plagueis' look from the EU, even if it isn't canon anymore, so people will recognize him more easily 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snoke is Mace Windu.... Think about it

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think Rey might be a child of the force like Anakin, and possibly even stronger than he ever was. It explains her proficiency.

This I find the strongest argument against reincarnations and virgin births and all that. JJ knows there's a limit to the religiousness

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anakin died 30-odd years before this movie and Rey is only 20-ish.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's your point? That they would have to be born at the same time or that Rey isn't reincarnation of Anakin?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Family freaks out over it and abandons her on Jakku because of it. Makes more sense than her being a Solo.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I heard Anakin reincarnated - which would be something new, but so was the concept of virgin birth with Anakin originally.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

This is honestly what I hope.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm also a fan of this theory - esp. if they go with Snoke being Darth Plagueis & him being the one making the vergences in the force

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think she might just be a Mary Sue. I loved the movie, but that's the only thing that bugged me- shit Luke needed 3 movies of training for

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

she just "figures out", on her own, in like 15 minutes. Mary Sue as fuck.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Go to TvTropes to learn more about Mary Sue. Because you obviously don't know what Mary Sue is.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nothing explains being able to use mind tricks 20 minutes after even figuring out you have the force.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Not mind tricks, flat out mind control.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Looks like she can absorb knowledge from the force. Learned to manipulate minds from connecting with Kylo, learned to fight from the saber.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, for that she'd need to have had someone, I don't know, explicitly demonstrate the technique to her. If only that had happened.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

She can read Kylo's mind during that interrogation scene, so it's not far fetched that she can learn force persuasion.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When kylo ren was reading her mind she was able to read his. My theory is she picked up on some of his powers.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

"A door, once opened, can be walked through in either direction."

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I think that's possible but I wouldn't prefer that to be true. The trilogies would be too similar and then midiclorians are mentioned....

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The thought did cross my mind. She is able to use the force so easily.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That always did bug me. Jedi, even Anakin needed training to learn the stuff Ren just kinda "figured out" the first couple tries.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can argue she learned it from being in Kylo Ren's mind

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well Anakin kind of rejected the training. He felt he didn't need at, that he was above it. Anakin is the definition of hubris. Kylo isnt

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She also is a gifted pilot and engineer like Anakin. I was thinking something more akin to a resurrection or clone of Anakin.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I'd go with a created-by-force entity as Anakin was, or Luke married to Obi-Wan's daughter, and that created this kind of force sensitivity

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But she did say she was waiting for her parents (plural) on Jakku. That's the only reason I hesitate that she's another immaculate birth.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have same thought.. Or if it is her adapting parents - my brain will explode.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whoah. What if Rey becomes a Sith like Anakin too? That'd be interesting.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did she not learn her piloting skills from an abandoned flight sim that she scavenged?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dont think they mention explicitly in the movie, but it would make sense. Still shes not just aware of how to fly, shes good at it. 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well there's a book about her past you know.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What book?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even Rey said she didn't know she could do some of the moves she did during the escape in the falcon. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was a fun read comments as well. Enjoy your many up votes. I've been rereading the books it's exciting.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rey and Kylo Ren are so brother and sister. It goes along with the whole family dilemma. It's basically the opposite of Luke and Leia.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What if episode 7 is a prequel to episode 8?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My theory? Remember that Anakin saber was salvaged from Cloud City. Remember what it was attached to? His hand. Yes, Rey is Luke's clone.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

+1 for wacky theory. Love it

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mark my words, she is related to Obi wan. I promise you all.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

... we wished, didn't we...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like this theory.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

easily be a random force sensitive that got tangled up in the story and Luke's student/child/whatever hasn't even been revealed yet. 2/

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I think Rey and Kilo were close, and he couldn't bring himself to kill her during his purge. So he dropped her off on Jakku

10 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 13

I

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think rey and kylo were childhood friends as their parents, luke, han, and leia are friends/related.

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

But Rey was a young girl when she was dropped on Jakku. They seem too close in age for kylo to have done that.

10 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Perhaps they weren't close, but he couldn't bring himself to kill a 6 year old. One more way he doesn't live up to Vader's example.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They stated that kylo is in his late 20s and Rey is in her late teens early 20s.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

According to Wookieepedia, Kylo was born within a year of Jedi (so he's about 29-30) and Rey was born 11 years after (so she's 19).

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Reading some of these comments I think people dont realize Rey is 19 and Kylo is 28.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Correct

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

kYlo. It's KYLO. HE'S NOT A DARK SITH LORD OF MEASUREMENT UNITS. HE'S KYLO. NOT KILO

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I feel like we would all watch a movie where the Sith is all metric, and the rebels are fighting for imperial measurements...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kilo Ren and the Cartels of Ren turned to the dark side of dealing coke.

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

They started using the metric system to measure quantities and Darth Ounce did not like this one bit.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Neat!

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think Kyle was jealous of her power and threw a tantrum and killed the rest of Luke's students. Rey escaped and was left on Jakku.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Holy crap, I like that WAY more than her being Luke's kid.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But Kylo and Rey seem so close in age, she wouldn't have needed protection until way after she was left on jakku

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In the novelization of the movie Ren says "So it IS you." After she grabs Luke/Anakin's lightsaber. He definitely knows who she is.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or Luke can feel a ripple in the force other than Kylo and Leia and Luke finally found out who it is.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SPOILER!!! At the end of the film like is standing over a headstone. Could be that if his wife, or maybe to memorialize Han.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"This is the pile of stones I call Han"

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And these steps I named chewbacca. Please wipe your feet before entering Yoda, keep brick hut clean he is.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The mother left Rey on Jakku, was killed by kylo or others. Luke was referenced, so Rey thinks he's a myth. His saber calls to her. I'm

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm what? Don't do that

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thinking all signs point to her being a Skywalker.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, after touching the saber the first time, you have the "you know that who you're waiting for won't be coming" (1)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"but there's still someone who could" from Maz, and Rey's responce: "Luke" (2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hoping for Rey to unrelated to anyone.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It would actually be a fresh take, to have the potential main jedi badass taking up the mantle not be a skywalker.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The big question is whether Finn will ever manage to win a fight. Getting beaten up is practically his super power.

10 years ago | Likes 247 Dislikes 0

He's the Krillin of Star Wars.

Mostly his talent is exceptional luck. His rescue plan could have gotten the entire resistance killed. It was incredibly reckless.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure he has the highest kill count of any canon storm trooper.

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Best accuracy of any storm trooper!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's supposed to be an everyman who decides to stand up for what is right. Makes sense he can't fight the big guys.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But did he dieeeeeeeeee?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

getting beaten up... and NOT dying. a super power shared by a few super heroes.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm about 99% sure he'll be a general in the resistance in the next movie. Poe will train him as an Ace pilot, plus he's got blaster skills.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want Fin to be a Jedi so badly.

10 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 2

I want him to die so badly.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 24

Damn, those are some aggressive feelings for a fictional character

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had similar feelings for Goffrey. So, I have hope for Finn.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

I can see him eventually using a saber/gun fighting style later in the movie, he's already proficient with both

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

TRAITOR!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well he is fighting people he shouldn't fucking be fighting. "Oh, Sith? Yeah, I can totally fight with him..."

10 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

Kylo isn't a sith.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He is Sith, he just isn't a Sith lord.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No he isn't look it up its a common misconception. Just because he has a red lightsaber it doesn't mean he's a sith.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It just means he uses a synthetic crystal in his lightsaber like the sith do.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

like Rey? "Lol I have no force training what so ever but if I whisper 'the force' I will beat this guy who handed me my ass two scenes ago.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I feel like for a storm trooper he held his own against Kylo. Cut him some slack

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Which is kinda the problem, Kylo should've just force held him and killed him in 2 seconds

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But Kylo is a lil bitch so he didn't.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He's already shown he can do it. It's just a giant convenience/plot hole that he didn't.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, random storm trooper with a shock stick.

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Not random. Nines. One of his former teammates. Probably why finn didn't do too well.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's no random storm trooper, he's THE LOYAL storm trooper ! TThe God of Sick Spins ! Respect TR-8R mate.

10 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

I dunno. I was disappointed because I spent the movie waiting for Finn to have a moment of badassery, and it never really came.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As much as he's cool, it's just "Okay, Finn looks like he might kick ass. Here's a random no-name guy to beat him nearly to death."

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well one could assume TR-8R was trained to use his baton and had some field experience while Finn was basically a recruit

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's kinda the point. Not everyone can be a badass from the beginning. He's just a normal trooper with actual morals.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not that I think it's likely, but there doesn't necessarily have to be any kind of big reveal in Ray's backstory. She could just as 1/

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Who cares about Rey? You can have v

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

to the top!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rey is 100% the descendant of a powerful Sith or leader of the Empire. Remember she's the only one with a british accent on that planet

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

I've come from the future to inform you that you've accurately predicted this.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Obi-Wan is also british but your theory is equally interesting

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

*Coruscanti, as it's called in the SW universe.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So you're saying that in that universe the British empire rule the entire universe?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess I'm saying that in every fictional universe, those with high-class British accents are almost always the rulers.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not the Asari in Mass Effect

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(3) her on Jakku. This action also what caused Kylo to start doubting Luke's Jedi order and betrayed him later.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(1) Your theory is close to mine. In mine she's Palpatine's test tube baby or clone with gender changed. Empire remnants wanting to replace

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which means she is actually the daughter of Jeremy Clarkson.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

(2) the dead emperor, but switched the gender to avoid suspicion. Luke found out, stormed the facility and kidnap the little girl and drop

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But that black guy ex-stormtrooper traitor scum also had a British accent. He is British.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

In real life, he wasn't allowed to keep his actual accent for the movie. Abrams didn't like it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In the modern era accents have an important role in Star Wars.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ooh.... Man... That could be interesting.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Congratulations, you were correct!

I think it's interesting when the short creature said she's seen her eyes before. Maybe she saw Luke's eyes?

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

She did mention, after living this long you start to see the same eyes. She may have been literal there.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good call. I think this further proves she knows who Rey is

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

She only knows who Rey is because of what Han told her.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why did she tell Rey that she was the chosen one? It seems weird that she'd get the lightsaber in the snow using the same force pull among

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lest we not forget, Obi did the force pull lightsaber move to kill Maul.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Other weird similarities. I think she looks very similar to Padme though, so idk

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She said the saber chose her not that she is the chosen one. I'm not sayin she was clueless but after Han said something she knew who she is

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She didn't she was talking to fin. I've watched that scene 100 times because people mentioned her eyes flickering to Rey's but they did not.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I just argued with myself and now I'm just a conscientious spectator. Next I'll up/downvote accordingly.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are talking about the following scene when the short thing takes off her glasses and looks into Rey's eyes

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But she didn't say that. She said it to Finn after that it was just about the saber calling to her and what she should do.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, how have you seen the scene 100's of times? Not arguing, but curious

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

After seeing it in theaters I watched it on 123movies.to decent quality if you're not watching it for the first time and are using a tablet

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ah ok. I remember that site. Good memories

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got thinking.. Luke's speech in the trailer, about the force strong in his family, was that even in the movie?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No, it was dialogue from Return of the Jedi. Was never supposed to be in TFA.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No itt wasnt. I was disappointed it wasnt there. But its a kinda clear giveaway of reys parentage

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Could just be referring to Kylo and foreshadowing that he'll become a powerful sith/jedi/whateverthefuck

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I prefer the theory that she is Leia's daughter over Luke's, which still fits with that from the trailer. But I think Leia would have...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

recognized her daughter through the Force, no matter how long they had been apart or thought dead or something. Also, that's why Leia...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

wants to find Luke - because *he* knows where Leia's daughter is.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I doubt the theory that Leia has another child only for the fact that if this is true then every scene between her and Han in hindsight 1/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is awkward & weird because we know there was a split or infidelity or something like that and I don't find that to be the strongest story 2/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was from RotJ

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dad's theory is that she is obi wans daughter. *Spoilers*. When Rey touched the light saber and flashback happened 3 voices talked. Yoda

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Granddaughter maybe daughter, physically impossible unless he was doing some immaculate conception force magic while a force ghost.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She couldn't be his daughter unless he didn't actually die in ANH which would make his ghost awkward

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She was born around 10 years after the battle of endor

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Old obi wan, and young obi wan. We didn't decide what Yoda said but obi said "Rey" and "these are your first steps". Take what you want out

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Of this.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rey is the granddaughter of Padme's double from Episode I, which is why she looks so much like Kiera Knightley.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

She's not Keira Knightly?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Excellent theory

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Did anyone else find it suspicious that after Han's death, Leia walks right past Chewie to hug Rey, a girl she has "never met before?"

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

To me, this cements the Han/Leia daughter theory. Leia knows. Also, in the EU, they had twins...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, actually, that did bother me, those 2 were inseparable and VERY close. To me, that would be the first one I hugged

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She never did give him a goddamn Medal. Leia's a wookiephobe!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This was by far the most annoying scene in the movie.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Maybe she's Leia's daughter... but from another dad than Han ?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe she is The Incest Child. Huh? Huh?!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, maybe the Bene Gesserit managed to breed Luke and Leia together to bring forth the Kwisatz Haderach.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More like Chewie ignoring Leia. He's like "Oh fuck you for sending Han to his death."

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My theory: it's Obi Wan Kenobi's granddaughter. I would like to think that he had a daughter between episodes 3 & 4. I think that Luke (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 183 Dislikes 4

I said that while watching the movie i hope we are correct

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what if she's liam neeson's granddaughter? name escapes me cause im sleepy

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Qui-gon Jinn?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you've seen clone wars, this could be possible.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Not really, SPOILERS, the one person who ever came close to tempting him away from the Jedi code dies in his arms.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

yeah but they had a previous history. Who knows what went on back then. There could have been offspring she never told him about.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As much as I love this theory, Rey is way too young to be Kenobi and Satine's love child ... :'(

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well...true, but a grandchild of perhaps?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rey = Jaina, Kylo Ren = Jacen, Finn = Kyle Katarn. The EU lives on!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

JJ has specifically stated that Rey's last name was deliberately not mentioned. That makes being related to someone far more plausible.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I just assumed it was because she didn't know her last name. I mean, being given/sold to a junk dealer when you're 5, she probably forgot it

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think Obi-Wan could ever be with someone after Satine.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I believe that rey was just a student whom luke found after the battle when she was just a kid. So luke hid her on jakku.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which is why she saw luke in the rain with r2. Probably because she was there. Luke whipped her memory and hid her.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think this might be true, and I like it!!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was my theory too! She has to be

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same here happy to see some others think the same.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought jedi were not supposed to marry? Didnt anakin break the rules by falling in love with padme?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Ray's visions the voice is Ewan McGregor's

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Rey*

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually it's a combination of Guiness and McGregor. They spliced a old audio clip of Guiness saying "afraid" to make it sound like "Rey".

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She's Luke and Leia's daughter! Lannister style.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Just died!!!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just died!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But that still goes against the Jedi way of not bearing children...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Right cuz we know all the Jedis follow that

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Got together with her. Rey and Obi Wan do have the same accent. (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 2

My thoughts exactly.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck I thought I was the only one with that theory! Now I need a weirder and less plausible one to be unique...Rey is Jar Jar Bink's mother!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I thought the same thing! I took it a step weirder... Gwendoyln Christie ALSO has an accent.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So Luke had a kid with Obiwans daughter? Wouldn't they be very different in age?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ya the girl would be a few years younger, drops off Luke then finds a special lady friend.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She would be way older

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

He's basically say it's Luke's daughter AND Obi's granddaughter at the same time.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Oh I misread that. I really hope she's not his daughter

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would think it was fucking dumb of Luke to not take her with him if so

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah I basically heard a theory like this, that her accent is no accident.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An accent is not genetic. I like the Rey Kenobi theory, but her accent has nothing to do with it. Obi Wan does talk to Rey in her flashback.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It could be he didn't know about his kid back in Ep 1-3 days (or even before that), kid was brought up on his home planet, had Rey, etc.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes he does, when the voice says, this are your first steps, is the voice of Obi wan, McGregor was hired to say this

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cool fact, the audio they used is actually Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness blended. They cut together old audio files for Guinness.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's very cool, I hope they do an Obi Wan film some day.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Obviously, but it could just be a story telling trope.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Speaking of accents and dialects... How does Rey seemingly speak so many languages? She understood BB-8, Chewy, and weird scavenger dude.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

probably comes with living in a diverse shithole? Who knows. lol.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Explains her connection to Anakins lightsaber. Obi Wan had it for 30 years. Also her use of the force for mind control is classic Obi Wan.

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

30? Dude, Luke's 19 when they leave tattooine

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But... if it was important, they would have said "this is the lightsaber of Obi-One, Anakin and Luke", but they just mention Anakin and Luke

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Obi-Wan was nowhere near the major player in the rebellion that Luke was, nor as famous as Vader had become.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness both had a voice only cameo in the scene where Rey touches the light sabre for the first time.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Anakins lightsaber was lost at cloud city...but obis fell gingerly at Vaders feet...and is also blue...coincidence

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They've essentially screamed that Rey is Luke's daughter. And that's why I don't think it's true. It's way too damned obvious. Part of 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Star Wars is the surprise that no one expects. Before Ep V I doubt many though that Vader was Anakin Skywalker. I'm personally hoping for2/?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He wasn't Anakin until Lucas wrote Empire. Originally, Vader wasn't Anakin.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some random connection to Obi-Wan. It would make for a nice full circle type of story. 3/3

In the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan had a thing with the Duchess Satine of Mandalore, maybe they had a child that ended up having Rey?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, as far as I know it's against the code of Jedi to have children. Obi-Wan went by the rules so I doubt Rey is a direct descendant 1/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But she might be the descendant of his siblings (if he had any, this is unknown?) though I find this far fetched

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the Obi-wan parallel will come in the form of Luke's mentoring and protection of Rey, as well as Luke falling at the hand of Kylo

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Little evidence to go on but I think Ray might be of House Palpatine, fits in the good guy has evil child. Bad guy has good daughter/niece

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nailed it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She will be over 30 y/o if she's Palp's child. It will be better if she's his test tube baby or clone but gender switched

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rey being Palpatine's clone is the sickest plotline I've read on this thread.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Didn't have the characters to explained further but I would assume granddaughter or grand niece

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(1) My theory is that the empire remnants were desperate for a leader so they decided to clone emperor Palaptine. They switched the gender -

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2) to avoid suspicion. But Luke found out about it, broke into the facility and kidnap the girl and put her on Jakku to hide her.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Kenobi theory is that Rey is his granddaughter, not just daughter.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I heard about the Obi theory and immediately dismissed it, not realizing it was the granddaughter. Possible but I don't think it fits his MO

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He has had a few encounters with women, but I think that after his exile he would be free to pursue.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree with OP that I doubt that Kenobi would do this. When you think of his reaction to Anakin having sexy times then 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I doubt he would turn his back on the Force in such a manner. He believes his life dedicated to the Force, no? He is a celebate monk. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I take it you didn't watch the Clone Wars? They are canon, and prove Obi-wan is not immune to the ladies.
