First and foremost, we (women), have all of the same rights that men do. We can work, we can vote, we can own land. We can get an education and *gasp* we can even attend our nations top Ivy League universities. We can be CEO's and run Fortune 500 companies. We can own our own businesses. We can dress how we want, eat what we want, and go wherever we want. We can drive cars and we can speak our minds. We can even fight for our country. Every article in the constitution and the bill of rights pertains to women every bit as much as it pertains to men.
So what rights do we not have? So many are saying, "we are marching because if they didn't 100 years ago you would be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen." Granted women a hundred years ago didn't have the same rights we have today, they were hardly barefoot and pregnant like the helpless sex slaves so many of you are painting them out to be. And yes, because of women's suffrage things changed for us. But that has absolutely nothing to do with you marching . It is completely nonsensical to fight for something you already have. Look at Hillary Clinton. She ran for president! She lost, but she did it. So please tell me again how we are so unfairly treated.
But then of course you complain about the wage gap. Women can and do make the same kind of money as men do. We can do the same kind of work. Just look at your idol Cecil Richards. She makes over $200,000 more per year than our male president.
Speaking of good old Cecil, let's discuss your birth control argument. It has been readily available to those who want it and free and low cost to those who need it for many, many years. Just because Trump is pro-life doesn't mean you won't have access to birth control. To be perfectly honest, that type of rational is just stupid. And let's address the moronic statements about defunding Planned Parenthood. Just because it's no longer federally funded doesn't mean it up and disappears. It means they have to fund themselves. Maybe Cecil will have to take a pay cut, but they'll still be there. Furthermore, the ONLY difference between your local health department and Planned Parenthood is that one performs abortions and one does not.
Women roamed the streets in DC with vaginas on their heads and no one said anything. If a man walked around with a penis hat, there would be an uproar. It's actually pretty degrading that so many chose to represent women in this fashion. The last time I checked, I was more than just a vagina.
Lastly, let's address the elephant in the room. Many of you have brought up comments that Trump said. How many years ago was it? Probably the same amount of time ago that Bill Clinton was getting blowjobs in the Oval Office, but no one seems to mind that. I would think such strong feminists as yourselves would be outraged over that behavior. But not a single word has been said. You've also all been pretty quiet about the fact that he was caught oogling Ivanka Trump during the inauguration while standing next to his wife, your hero.
So let's just call a spade a spade. The march wasn't about women's empowerment. It was about fear mongering and anger. It was about accusing Donald Trump of taking your rights away, which he actually has no plan of doing. It was about anger that your candidate didn't win. It was about pushing the pro-choice agenda.
If you want to see something change, you need to BE the change. Honestly, what do these marches, rallies, whatever you want to call them, accomplish? Nothing! Without actual action you simply a sheep in a herd. If you want to see something change, write to your legislators. Petition those with the power to enact the change you're seeking. Run for office and do it yourself! Use it as a platform.
I also think the complete disarray in Washington DC should be addressed. Do you really think it speaks well of your cause when you leave our nations capital in shambles? Your garbage and discarded signs are overflowing throughout the streets. Why is this acceptable? Have we really reached s point in our society where people are so entitled they can't even take care of their own garbage?
So enough already. You're pissed off Trump is president. Own it. Call it what it is. With fantastic speeches like Madonna's talking about blowing up the White House what did you expect? These are the people you are allowing to represent you, to speak for you. While they may speak for you, they most certainly do not speak for me and neither do you.

Men's lives 100 years ago weren't great either. Women only moved into the public sphere after it became sufficiently sanitized.
FusRoDoodles
Freedom does not stop being freedom because you disagree with how it's used. This is a truth that remains no matter what side you're on.
chemed
Your straw men are still standing.
eion85
Men don't have their reproductive organs used a political football.
JudgeMentalCat
Even if I agreed, this is on the front page every fucking day. Quit the fucking circlejerk
thegrimcoder
Because women want the same rights as guns... I guess they don't want to go to school and should be locked in the basement.
HammerOrNothing
Because they started getting taken away today.
NothingToSeeMoveAlong
What? Women voted for Trump too? The media has been misrepresenting this the whole time??!
YourModeratelySizedFan
I mean, I believe Trump is all for equal rights of all people. I just hope he realizes he can't fuck over the scientific community.
LarfleezePlz
Jumbobodybutter
Because Bill Clinton got blowjobs, all women's protests are invalidated. Thanks for clearing that up.

TL;DR?
cleveranduniqueusername
So that you can keep the rights that trumpa lumpa wants to take away.
TossABabyYodaToYourWitcher
Because it's easier to keep rights than to gain them back
deonizm
Can confirm. Am right-handed. Can't be bothered to grow another should something happen to this one.

Lol

what are you missing? Empathy, probably.

Douche.

I'd like to add 'correct information' to the list.

Re: the strawman of Trump Vs Bill Clinton. There's the little thing called "consent" which some people think is important/pertinent.
Myth0l0gical
If smart makes you sexy, you're a Ferrari wrapped in bacon. .....no idea, so don't ask.
magneticmagic3
Well, that quote is about the most terrifying thing I've read today. Ask the Native Americans how US patriotism served them.
asliceofpizza
THANK GOD a women with a brain.
TheWorstRacist
hey @op. This slice of pizza is showing you why the march is relevant. clever, eh?
Velociraptorex
...woman
paranoiacinreverse
They are not marching for more rights. They are marching because the institutions they value are under threat: reproductive health, 1/2
paranoiacinreverse
2/2 protection of the environment, their kids' education. Other things also under threat: equality, diversity, common decency, respect.
magneticmagic3
I'm going to tell you something important: your perspective is not a fact nor the truth. Large scale data indicates that women still do not
magneticmagic3
make as much as men for the same work. Abortion/contraceptive rights are severely lacking in many states. Maternal leave is not federally
magneticmagic3
enforced. Women are not protected to breastfeed in public. Women still gets murdered, raped, and assaulted much more than men. YOU may be
magneticmagic3
totally fine, but your experience is not truth and many women still fight every day to be treated equally.

It's just too damn long
WowThatUsernameIsSoOriginal
African-Americans (for example) also have all the same rights as other Americans. Doesn't mean there is no racism.
MyRegularAcctIsntAnonymousEnough
it's so much easier to scream about being a victim of -isms
Velociraptorex
This. Easier to be a victim than a victor. Imagine if people like Sir Frederick Douglass had a victim mentality like that..
MyRegularAcctIsntAnonymousEnough
he'd still be dead, but unknown
michaelgjackson
It was also an international event. There are still places in the world where woman do NOT have the same rights as those in the US.
ricochetbiscuit
I think this is what @OP is missing
TerryFoldFlaps
Like Muslim places?
BoomIgotyourwalletBoomIgotyourphilliestickets
That'll show those middle easterners. Let's March and show them how angry we are.
BoomIgotyourwalletBoomIgotyourphilliestickets
I do however agree about shitty rights over there but they do what they want. They are all grown adults and you don't change a grown man's
BoomIgotyourwalletBoomIgotyourphilliestickets
mind by telling him no.
TossABabyYodaToYourWitcher
There were marches in the middle East. Not a lot but still
CapriSon
The reason is that we're about to lose some rights, especially on abortion, so women are making a point that the organized and fighting.
loopyloopus
Rights, forcing other people to pay for abortions caused by careless or reckless sex... tomato, tomahto...
HikariShade
Government funding cant pay for abortions since I think the 70's.
loopyloopus
fungibility
Wander1236
I don't think you're using this term correctly.
loopyloopus
Sorry for the link, but a good explanation http://www.dailywire.com/news/12425/how-planned-parenthood-can-spend-taxpayer-money-frank-camp
FusRoDoodles
Trump doesn't only stop at defunding PP, he has threatened to challenge Roe v. Wade.
loopyloopus
Unlikely to succeed, plus PP will continue without govt money. Maybe the higher ups will have to take a pay cut.
LullabyJones
They've been forcing me to pay for wars I'm opposed to for my entire adult life. Potato, potahto.
loopyloopus
So you totally get what a victory defunding something you are opposed to would be.
ricochetbiscuit
Not a politics comment just happy about the way you spelled potahto
JudgeMentalCat
Federal funds are not allowed to pay for abortions. You'd know this if you put in a modicum of research.
loopyloopus
fungibility, I do research. Seems like you didn't.
JudgeMentalCat
Yeah, it really seems like you don't. In the US, federal aid given to PP isn't allowed to pay for abortions. It can only pay for
JudgeMentalCat
cancer screenings, pap smears, and birth control of the anti-contraceptive kind
CptBeardBeard
Or a woman faces a life threatening complications where an abortion would save her life, but fuck her right?
loopyloopus
Look the rarest of exceptions that everyone is okay allowing and base our call to emotion on the exception that everyone is okay with. Ass
CptBeardBeard
Also, federal funding has doesn't fund abortions. By law it can't.
loopyloopus
fungibility. Among other loopholes.
CptBeardBeard
What happens is they eliminate funding for services low income women rely on like birth control, cancer screenings, and whatever else. >
