Went down a rabbit hole for this. Apparently, the Chicago Blackhawks are actually named after a US Army Infantry Division (the 86th ID in this case) and not for the Suak War Leader. Doesn't excuse the imagery that's used by the team, but I thought it was an interesting fact. On a related note, The Blackhawk Division and the Blackhawk helicopter are named for Black Hawk as an 'acknowledgement of a worthy adversary' which... yeah.... kinda ignores all the genocide by the US Army....

My thoughts on the pride jerseys: If you don't want to wear the same uniform as the others, even in warm-up, go the fuck home. Watch the game on TV. If your team is doing something you disagree with, you're allowed to not like it, but go be a tantrumy toddler away from the rest of the group.

If they have to wear pride gear or even play with other players who do, it can very well put their families in Russia at risk because of their draconian homosexual laws.
