was a complete sham. This woman threatens to ruin our entire public school system in the United States. She plans to take money from public schools and fund private schools that teach a faith based curriculum. She believes that rather than a constitutional right to protect the interests of disabled children, that it should be left up to the states to decide. She has no experience in a classroom. She has never attended public school (nor has her children). She has never received a loan for college. She has not released her tax returns. She is a billionaire philanthropist who bought her way into the white house. Her first confirmation hearing was a joke, where she dodged questions and refused to make basic reasonable commitments to senators about her intentions if she were to be nominated. Senator Alexander, the chairman of the committee rushed the vote. He then changed rules or added rules that had never existed in previous hearings. This is very real guys. She will impact all of our children's educational futures; I fear it will be for the worse.

Btw republicans love to put idiots in charge of things.

First we need to stop calling them "schools".

On the other hand, If trump had a qualified person in his cabinet, that person might feel lonely

She sucks. She needs to be dumped quick. Will make a bad situation worse!

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I'm glad my wife and I aren't having kids. But I feel bad for the people that do.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

She's not right for the role, on that I agree with you, but you come across equally ignorant. You're just fear mongering and being dramatic.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 19

The difference is she is in a position of power and this is a post on imgur. A little less serious don't you think.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It's already been ruined.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

She is the absolute worst and what's even more evil is how they are gonna screw over the people that support them the most.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Southern public schools are the freaking worst

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gonna put my kids in a Miss Peregrine time loop during the Obama era so they don't have to endure a DeVos/Trump education

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I'd go pre Bush admin. Don't forget the "No Child Left Behind" nonsense.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As long as she gets teh fed out of the schools and gets rid of standardized testing I have no complaints

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

She doesn't even understand how growth vs. proficiency tests would affect the students futures...

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hopefully she'll get but by a school bus.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

I've got a kid on the way. Hopefully, we'll have shit fixed up by the time they're old enough for school.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She also didn't know she was on the board of directors for a charity for 13 YEARS. (very sketchy charity too)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Trump supporter, I completely agree. Worse choice he ever made. He was looking out for an investor but Hillary would have done the same

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 13

Hillary was a piece of shit, we get it. Bernie would have chosen a qualified and competent candidate though

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Probably... I'm just saying, for not being a politician he sure knew the rules of the game. I still believe it's his worst choice, a wrong 1

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Forget about Hillary. She is no longer an issue. Now the focus is on what we can do to keep cronyism from corrupting our country.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Wow, In the context of my post she was a factor considering either/or, we'd be in a similar situation....

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Ok but it's not either or because that debate is over. It has been decided so what she may have done is irrelevant. Lets look to the future.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sauce?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh my, that's quite the long sauce. I'll take a look at in when I get home tonight. Thanks OP

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@crims0ntider this is how you be a human. On that note, imma need some source for your claim that you are indeed a homosapien

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Glad I'm never having kids

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Still impacts you. You'll be working with those kids one day.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not with the money I'll be saving by not having kids.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ugh I hate that this is true lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I've watched her hearings. Wow! She is really, really stupid. Unprepared, uneducated and most of the time wrong. Also unable to answer...

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

I support accountability, I support accountability, I support accountability, I support accountability, I support accountability, I support

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Hahahahaha that one is a classic. It was so obvious she had no clue what the question was about.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The smug way she was saying it drove me into a raging fury

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is infuriating to say the least. Grizzly bears...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"-dodges question- I look forward to working on that with you -forced smile-"

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

It is just insane that someone like her can be appointed such important position. It's like everyone is allowed to participate, if they pay.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Our government copied an f2p business strategy. It is pay to win

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh no! Not faith based curriculum! Anything but that! The children my god what about the children!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Faith based curriculum is unfair to children of different religions or of no religion, and too often it also ignores or side steps real info

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh are you a teacher in a private school?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh are you a teacher in a private school?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh are you a teacher in a private school?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If I may ask, how is that relevant to my point?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't know why it posted me three times, it's relevant because you have no idea what goes on in private schools yet you claim you do.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I attended a very strict private school growing up, and when we couldn't afford it any longer, we attended public. Also, it's undeniable 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She can't ruin something that is already ruined.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 15

She can make a bad thing worse

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

She wants to give parents and children a choice. What is wrong with that?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

It leads to even more segregation, and it's more segregated now than before desegregation. It accelerates the disparity in society until we

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Her leading the DOE is like Dr. Ben Carson over HUD....its dumb let's Ronald McDonald over the sushi bar

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Like we put Obama in charge of the country for 8 yrs?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

With conservatives yelling so much about the constitution, you'd think having a man with a law degree from Harvard in Constitutional Law

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No nothing like that ...nothing at all

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It leads to even more segregation, and it's more segregated now than before desegregation. It accelerates the disparity in society until we

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Might as well have a caste system like India. The idea today of being able to better your lot in life with a bootstraps mentality is history

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's not forced segregation any more than people choosing to shop at Target rather than Walmart.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

It's forced to the children born to poor parents

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Why is it a bad thing to have never attended public school or received a loan for education? Isn't a private education and no debt good?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

Because she has no first hand experience of how any of it works. Not even second hand experience.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's fair. But given the state of public education, couldn't that be considered a good thing also? Fresh ideas, fresh outlook, etc.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

A fresh outlook is fine if you've an understanding of what might not be working & what is. Her voucher ideas are not fresh and are bad.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree 100% on vouchers. My kids attend private school and I don't want kids in there whose parents aren't invested. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 I know that sounds shitty but uninvested parents are why my husband and I sacrifice to pay for PS.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work a job I hate at a very nice school so we can send our kids here. I still want public school to be a viable alternative for others.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd be better off providing links, specifying your accusations, and explaining why some of these are bad...

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 19

Why does that study not differentiate between public and private schools? Are you suggesting private schools should be illegal?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

No what I'm saying is she will take the public school system and make it worse, and society worse as a result

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But the current system created what you posted. And the DOE's own report said the $7B increase in the last 8 years didn't help at all.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Right, but her policies only accelerate these trends, that's the fundamental problem here

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sending children with disabilities to private schools, most often requires them to sign away federal rights under the law IDEA. 1/

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

In other instances where there was a voucher program in place to send children to faith based schools, it was middle class children who 2/

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

had never even attended a public school. She will not be expanding opportunities to those who need it, but giving more to those who 3/

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

don't. The public school system is already financially strained as is, but to pay for these additional schools for mostly middle class 4/

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

children, will take money away from the disadvantaged children's education.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A 3 1/2 hour hearing isn't how you support your argument. Logically explain your opinions.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 18

Literally do a 2 minute Google search and you'll figure it out. We're not going to spoon feed it to you

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not about spoon feeding. It's about supporting one's argument with logic and sources. Something they used to teach in school.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I provided sources, but can't help it that you're lazy and unwilling.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Schools today are more segregated than they were before desegregation. Her policies will only accelerate that. Education is one of the only

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

ways poor people have to better their lot in life, and her policies will completely undermine the "bootstraps" idea Americans believe in.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Racially segregated? That could really be on the rise from BLM preaching it for the last 2 years... but I see what you're saying.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Lolwuttttt????

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If you listen to that and don't think she's a scumbag, no amount of explanation will do anything for you

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

When did it become a bad thing to ask people to cite and logically explain their position?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Because it comes off like you are trying to support Betsy Devos
