Guy high on drugs smashed the glass through in my door and then crawled in on his hands and knees cutting himself up while doing so.

I grabbed him but he was so out of it he didn't really get what was going on. Plus I was nude (slept naked that night. As most nights) Turns out he was being chased by the police who came rushing through a few seconds later with dogs. He had broke into a house down the street and was trying to get away. He was arrested and that was that. It was pretty high octane shit for 2am.

Same thing happened for my grandma.. not the same ending though.. Happy you're safe.

+1 for naked

Glad you’re ok OP. Now you get to sue him for damages or just goes against homeowners?

guy breaks into my house as a escape plan? sorry he might be leaving in a body bag!

Rough kick!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good job not punching him, you coulda cut yourself on glass and got tweaker blood in your cuts. No telling what's in that shit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Up vote for and I quote "It was pretty high octane shit for 2am."

This is why castle law is so fun and everyone should have it. Want to violently break into my house? Dead.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

You make it sound like you'd enjoy killing someone for stumbling into your house.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

Stumbling into, no. Breaking into, yes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Shit happened

Once woke up to a very drug addled young man stood next to my bed staring at me.

He was so utterly out of it that, after I'd realised what I was seeing, he was easily escorted out the flat~ He was just lost, thankfully~

if that had been my place he wouldda got hit with the bat that lives by the door. but we don't have glass doors cuz that's not secure.

I bet it was awkward talking to police with a rager

Had a guy try to shove past me into my house one night, was convicted he lived there... freaky shit, scary shit... glad it turned out ok 4 u

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A few years ago I was unreasonably drunk and tried getting in my neighbours. Tbf I'd only moved there a few days ago and the houses all 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

looked exactly the same (row of terraces, I didn't bother to remember which one I came from). I was wondering why my key wouldn't work.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice... in my case, I had been living there for 2 years

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where's the blood?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

There's a dark spot on the carpet right beneath the door handle, and there are some drops on the carpet in line with the center of the door

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those look like stains, esp given the age of the carpet/house.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Transylvanian glass.

Glass doors? You ask for it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad you survived, kinda sad the perp did.

Those carpets... Narrow doors... This looks like the UK.

god i read this as FURRY issues at first

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You've interneted a bit too long friend

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Time to replace that glass door with something with a bit more resistance to it. Solid wood or hollow metal would do the trick.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Forgot to say also, when the police asked his name he said 'Tom Hanks' what a mad man

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Should have dickslaped him?

Two guys broke into my house one night and all I had to defend myself was the back scrubber from the shower. Thankfully they were just kids.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is partly why I don't like glass doors

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

It's 100% of the reason for me. My front door is ~4 inch solid wood with metal casing, 3 locks and a total of 7 bolts that go into wall>

I live on the 8th floor of an apartment building. Only windows anyone can use are the exterior ones, and...you do that, you deserve my stuff

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That is one secure door

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like feeling safe at home. I don't have a dangerous occupation or live in a bad neighbourhood, I just like knowing that when I come home>

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and lock the door behind me, nobody's getting in without some serious time, noise and equipment.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At least not through your front door.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 locks? Why stop there? Go for 10!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At that point they'd have an easier time going through the wall.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

when locked. Front doors are supposed to protect us and our property, not look pretty and be seethrough.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Jesus! do you live in Detroit?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Curious why people have glass doors. What’s the point?

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Personally, I think this looks like the entrance door to an apartment building, not a single family dwelling.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That would make a lot more sense.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let’s in light

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And crazy high people apparently.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ya, that too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most glass doors are screen doors. a secondary door because two doors are always better than one?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve seen storm doors that are top half glass, but yeah those are secondary doors.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This honestly looks a bit like a screen door installed as a regular door. But it also looks like an older home/building that's been *c*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

*c* updated, probably by someone who has no business doing so (sorry to OP if it was him, hopefully this was an early project). Odd/cheap *c

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

c* choices in finishes and what got replaced.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Very curious, never seen it in a home before. Can anyone say who, and why?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

our front door is 50% glass, 2 inch safety glass, its easier to break through the wall than that door

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

German here, very common over here. Try to look at it like a window. You have windows, do you?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah but most homes use the doors as a way to keep people out. I guess it depends where you live. I only have one window on the 1st floor.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plus some glass doors on my patio. I like the light, but I’d rather not have any glass on 1st floor. Worries me for possible breakins.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe I should move to a better neighborhood.

waaaaaaaaat some dude posted his foot bent sideways and another his insane bruises & u worried about a print? you're adorable

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wait is that honestly your front door? Front doors are supposed to be a line of protection against shit like this. Glass - NOT your best bet

8 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 3

Have you ever seen what a window looks like ?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I love seeing people with ZERO common sense disagreeing with this comment. A solid door DOES prevent this shit.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

my front door is 50% glass, 2 inch safety glass, its easier to break through the wall than that door. If you go for a glass front door

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

/2 make sure its a proper one. Its seriously expensive though. If i remember correctly it was like 8-10k

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is safety glass; wired mesh. Not all too easy to get through...

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Unless you are on drugs apparently

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could put a boot right through that if I felt like it.b it's plenty easy wtf

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...unless you give it a somewhat harder kick. Then it breaks, like glass.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That would be one hell of a kick! Sure it would break, but nothing without hurting yourself in the process.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You also break your toe or foot. Guy probably didn't even notice as high as he was

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Having a fortified front door doesn't really help much unless you're also willing to put steel bars on your windows...

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

it's about deterrence, not actually stopping someone

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if you’re not on the first floor?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

While ultimately true, someone approaching a door looks a lot different to the outside than someone approaching a window. If you live in *c*

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

*c* neighborhood with anyone who might actually notice and/or call the cops.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Right, but most people break in at night so unless you have a neighborhood watch or well lit yard, it's not going to go noticed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's actually a bit of a myth. Most break-ins occur when the house is most likely to be empty, which is daytime. But I do agree it's *c*

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Only if you live in a house. That's why I dislike houses tbh, too many entry points/security issues.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

You dislike houses because of that!? That sounds a liiiiiiitlebit paranoid.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I'm financially comfortable female but lost our $$ selling house due to divorce. Never want to owe that much again, I rent.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just my way of thinking. I've been told that in US, most people own houses and apartments are only rented accomodation. It's not like>

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

2. that here. 99% of people in the city live in apartments, houses are mostly in the country. Therefore I view having a flat as more of a >

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

4. Can't do that in an apartment. I'm on the 8th floor. When the zombies come, I'll have a nice and safe few days before I starve to death.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

3. standard thing. Plus, every apocalypse or house invasion movie I've seen, intruders ALWAYS get in through a window, back door etc. >

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Wouldn't matter much unless you have bars on all the windows, too. Most people don't want all that unless they live in Detroit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thats true but home invasions happen everywhere

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad did this when we were about to get robbed, broke the guys nose and a few teeth knocked out. He had to pay hospital. Fuck the system.

8 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 5

That's crazy.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow what's BS. What state?

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 3

Castle law in america isnt much better. Ive been taught that if someone breaks in shoot to kill or you could very well go to jail.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 18

But who taught you that?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Our fucked up law system here in america. I saw a story where a guy broke his leg while breaking into a house and sued for 100k. He won.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 10

Netherlands, not us (:

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

In the U.S. We have the Castle Clause or something like that which allows us to defend ourselves vs. home invaders. That includes guns. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Most states take it very literally, but states like Texas allow you to shoot somebody all the way in your neighbor's yard with that law.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah if we could get where that happened. that would be fantastic. most places have castle doctrine defending you from that stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

We'd also need the other dude's story. Every time my parents tell a story I'm amazed at how my childhood memories differ from theirs.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can't pummel someone for grabbing a purse or something in public. But, if they break in your home, you have every right to defend yourself.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

The netherlands doesnt allow you to assault anyone, even if they break into your house youre just supposed to "call the cops and hide"

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

That's really stupid

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hence why I said we need location. That said I cannot agree with that policy. Does Netherlands have any stand your ground laws?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Most countries dont. Pretty much just the US.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Personally I'd have lit everything I owned on fire before paying a cent of their hospital bill, and fought it to the highest courts I could.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Its how the law works here sadly, even if theyre breaking into your house you cant do anything and just gotta call the cops..

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

See, that just encourages people to take it from KO'ing a burglar to trying to get away with disposing of a body.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Solid fuck that, someone busts into my house while I'm there, they're gonna be incapacitated by whatever convenient means at hand. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

2/2 They wanna prosecute me for stopping someone whose intentions I have no way of knowing, I'll fight it to the high fuckin heavens and on.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Its mostly there to protect you. If deterred youre less likely to get yourself killed by a junkie

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Even worse is, if youd come downstairs with a baseball bat and manage to swing at him, the thief can then prosecute YOU for attempted 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That shit happened at my house...some would have died of acute lead poisoning...there is a reason I sleep with a gun.

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 23

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

found the murican

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

Yeah you did.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right. You'd shoot someone who's already pretty much incapacitated and with the cops at their heels. So that makes you what.. A murderer?

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 12

A confident murderer too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

In Texas, the state of Texas would give him a medal for shooting the intruder

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Even California thinks breaking into an occupied dwelling gives the occupants grounds to shoot the intruder.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Breaking into my house? You're fucking dead.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If someone is crazy enough to crawl through glass to escape police then they're crazy enough to grab a knife and find a hostage.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With the cops that close. No I wouldn't. But if the S.O.B. made it completely inside....yea.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why would you hit someone with a lamp who's already down and doesn't seem like posing much of a threat?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 12

I mean, they aren't posing a threat while trying to get inside, but when they actually get in would be an issue. I wouldn't let that happen.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
