I've started to build the bed with these hidden beauties. Raw oak pieces. I've documented the beginning in an earlier post.

Started with cutting them into to right shape.

Nearly all the parts I've needed. I can start to plane the wood

Planing the wood. I love this step. It reveals the real beauty of this wood.

A lot of planing. In the front you can see the raw oak pieces

Not my best picture. These are some pieces after planing.

After everypart was nice and plane I could start with connecting them. I really do love domino connections.

The wholes are done.

Those will hold the bars on the side of the bed

precise cut.

Test run. Jep it fits. The bed can change while my little darling grows. In the beginning the sides are fully closed with bars. Later her parents can remove three bars in the middle so she can enter her bed by herself.

first connection. Middle bars left out.

Nearly finished. Middle bars inserted. Baby mode activated.

Oiled and varnished

The finished bed. Have a wonderful night little princess.

nice cage, that out to hold it

Not using a push block while planning, leads to thin fingers.

That's just wrong. You cant use a push block for this work.

Push block, not push stick.

I've never seen anyone in my life planning wood with a push block. Even in the Security advise videos made by Felder is shown to do without
