Opel GT (1968)
Toyota Celica (1970)
Honda NSX (1990)
One of the most iconic Japanese cars. Sold in the USA as Acura NSX.
Porsche 934 (1976)
Track-only Porsche, build for FIA Group 4 class races.
The 80's giants
From back to front:
- Mercedes AMG 300E 24v
- Porsche 959
- Porsche 964
- Ferrari F40
Pagani Huayra (2012)
Italian beast powered by AMG's V12 built specially for this car, producing 720 BHP. Because of the turbochargers, this car sounds as if it breathes.
Lotus 79 "Black Beauty" (1978)
One of my favourite machines. It whooped everybody's ass in '78 World Championship because it was the first F1 car to use advanced ground effect aerodynamics (basically the witchcraft of the negative pressure). Mario Andretti was the one to take this car to the 1st place in 1978.
Porsche 911 GT1 Straßenversion (1996)
Usually a car manufacturer would first make the road-legal car for homologation, then feed it steroids to make it competitive. But Porsche did the opposite. They first spawned the full-on racer and made it a little bit lazier for the streets. Hence the Straßenversion (street-version).
Mclaren F1 GTR (1996)
Race spec version of the world's fastest analogue car.
Alpine A110 "Berlinette" (1961)
Detomaso Pantera (1971)
Italian styling matched with American powerhouse.
Alfa Romeo 155 V6TI DTM (1993)
FIA Class 1 tourer
Ford GT Mk1 (1969)
Also known as FUCK YOU ENZO!
Plymouth SONIC Barracuda (1970)
Made by Chuck Miller of Styline customs, easily recognized by the custom front end, blower and paintjob. Sadly, this car is long lost.
Volkswagen W12 Syncro (1997) and Roadster (1998)
AKA Volkswagen Nardo, this car was VW's first supercar and a way to show the world what are they capable of.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale (1959)
This is some Ferrari. Maybe. But it's a V12 for sure.
Lotus 41 (1966) - F2 and F3 racing car
Freddy Kottulinsky is the one shredding those tires
Mercedes Benz 300 SL "Gullwing" (1954)
Famous for it's unique upward opening doors, referred to as "gull-wing" doors. This car was also the first one ever to use the direct fuel technology.
Ferrari 512S (1969)
Chevrolet Camaro SS (1970)
One of the most iconic pony cars ever made.
Alpine A310 (1971)
A110's younger brother.
Mercedes-AMG CLK LM (1998)
Opel Manta A "Spa Francorchamps" (1975)
Tuned by Opel tuner Irmscher, this car raced in The 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps 1975.
Renault Espace F1 showcar (1995)
This is what you get when mad french engineers decide to stuff a minivan with a 800 HP V10 engine from F1. Here's the video if you want to see this unholy creation in action: https://youtu.be/dGUyIOGVa0M?t=2m
BMW 2002 (1968)
Feisty little fella
Porsche 935 Turbo (1976)
Le Mans winner. If someone gets upset about that KKK logo - chill. It's a former company's name, Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch. They made turbochargers.
Ferrari 312PB (1971)
It's actually called 312P, but people call it PB so there's no confusion with it's older brother with the same name. Won The 1973 Nürburgring 1000km race
AMG Mercedes Benz 190E DTM (1989)
Lola T70 (I don't know exactly when it was made, somewhere in 60s I believe)
Dodge Charger R/T (1968)
Porsche 962 IMSA (1986)
Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 (2013)
Built by german specialized company Reiter Engineering this car is race-only version, made to comply with the FIA's GT3 standards.
Porsche 935/78 "Moby Dick" (1978)
750 HP long-tail shaped beast. The shape is where the "Moby Dick" nickname came from.
Porsche 935/78 "Moby Dick" (1978)
Another one, because why not.
German beasts
Top: 2015 Porsche 991 GT3 RS
Bottom: 2014 Porsche 991 GT3
Mercedes Benz C11
This Group C monster made 950 HP, and weighed 905 kg (2000 lb), and pushed over 400 km/h (250 mph in freedom units).
Alfa Romeo Furia (sometimes in 60s)
I don't know much about this car, except it looks gorgeous, and came with bunch of engine options.
Mazda 787b (1991)
This car is insane. It has a 2.6 liter (158 cu in) rotary engine that makes over 900 HP. All that without forced induction! You can hear it scream here: https://youtu.be/OjwwV20iZYE?t=1m26s
Porsche 917LH "Longtail" (1971)
Modified version of the 917, built only for the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Volvo 242 (1974)
Porsche 964 Turbo (1990)
Successor of the legendary 930, it actually uses the same engine.
1975 DRM race
A bunch of 911 Carrera RSRs, BMW 3.0 CSLs, Ford Escort II RSs
Maserati A6G/54 2000 (1954)
Bodywork was done by Zagato, and only 20 made.
Shelby Daytona
Built for racing. And looking gorgeous while doing that.
Porsche 911 Carrera RS (1973)
Renault 5 Turbo (1980)
Built for homologation purposes, this little hatchback had a mid-mounted 1.4 liter (around 85 cu in), churning out 160 HP with the help of the turbocharger.
Group 5 Zakspeed Ford Capri (1981)
12 polepositions out of 14 races and 9 wins. Not too shabby, huh?
Porsche Carrera RS 993 and Ferrari F40
Porsche 956/962 (left) and Porsche 917 (the other left)
Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 (1965)
TZ2 was basically a race version of the original TZ, both designed by Zagato. It had a 1.6 litre inline-4 capable of 170 BHP and 245 km/h (around 145 mph). Only twelve ever made.
Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (1972)
These are pretty rare. Sales ended only 5 months after the release, reason being the oil crisis. Only about 200 ever sold.
Porsche 917K (1970)
This one is the short-tailed brother of the 917LH, the one which won the 1970 and 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans.
AC Cobra 427 (1965)
Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione (1987)
Just five of these 650 BHP beauties were made. The predecessor of F40, and you can see the resemblance.
Ferrari 312T3 (1978)
Amazing car. Shame it was no match for Lotus that year.
Group C, 1990
At Monza, if I'm not mistaken. Imagining this horde flying by sends shivers down my spine.
Mazda RX-7
One of the best looking cars of the 90s. Ricer's wet dream powered by Wankel engine.
Shelby GT500 (2012)
Battered Jaguar E Type
Driven hard and carrying battle scars.
Ford RS200
One of the giants that were blasting dirt and mud - Group B style.
Lola T70 (I don't know exactly when it was made)
LOOK AT THOSE TIRES!
circlebreaker
It will go eight hectares on one pint of kerosine.
Communique
Lancia Delta s4 from 1986 would fit this list. Or the quattro from the same era. Group B was insane
pandaonfire
This is my jam right here. I don't actually do much with cars irl, but I still have my child-like enthusiasm for things that go fast loudly.
Mderms
#9 ftw I know Laguna Seca when I see it. Kinda hard to mistake the Corkscrew for something else.
Squossifrage
No Miata? Philistine! Also, the DTM is a silhouette car, not a real Mercedes. Just a Mercedes-styled fiberglass shell on a DTM chassis.
Wombatish
All the 80s supers and you skip the Gullwing BMW M1?? And the recent conceptual redo? Mmmmmm.
justlivinthedream
Great list, but did I miss the 64 Ferrari 250 GTO--my all-time favorite
FuckYeahUppercuts
I didn't even finish the post I scrolled down just to comment. As a fellow car guy you have good taste.
PlbMak
You like the Lotus 79? I was there when Mario drove it through Norwich as a calibration of winning the championship.
AdamSchleppi
Always +1 for cars :D
Xylopherandy
WHERES LANCIA???
WolfMcCloud
I appreciate a moderate car that's really well kept up. My neighbor has a 93ish Cavalier that is pristine. 4 banger, but looks so good.
WolfMcCloud
Don't get me wrong, these are all super cool cars as well. I really enjoyed the post!
BrokePilot
@op amazing post
MakerOnTheMove
My dad used to have an NSX. He sold it, and I was sad.
drunkninjasmurf
Honda will put a revamped version on the market this year.
diecidedad
a friend has just picked up an Opel Manta A , to go with his Opel Monza collection.
TheNotQuiteAsRealSlimShady
My Dad has an Opel GT with a 383 Chevy in it. It's fun as hell to drive.
GetSchwifty
I was going to be pissed if there was no RX-7. Also no AE86?

Nsfw that shit

You look like you know about things. Can you PM me, I have a few questions regarding cars.
iguessidontknowhowtospellimaganative
Ferrari, maybe. v12, no. that's a Ferrari flat 12.
DiabloRouge
I don't know. Aren't carburettors on a flat engine further away than these are?
YouMayFindThisMildlyInteresting
It's a 512S, 60º V12.
DeltaNorthern
I really appreciate the less obvious choices in this list, this is quality car porn.
dnebdal
The 242 made me smile. :)
camodawg
Agreed, so much better than the usual veyron/aventador/(insert latest greatest supercar) list. This is real quality stuff.

My dad had a 1970 Toyota celica until he went to college and left it at home then came back to find out his brother totaled it
kittydetonator
I would be in tears, it's been my dream car for 15 years
Reedthegreat
He is still mad to this day about it and he's 50
Wayray
That's a real nice list. Thanks for sharing.
crepevillain
That your list? That's a nice list.
Brad2217
The celiac took a huge turn for the worse
Vektraux
So did the MR2, I wish I could find a nice AW11, but all i can find are these nowadays. https://imgur.com/ubGL8da
Brad2217
This shows you a lot about the apple user base that celiac is corrected over celica
Kirchmeister
Yes it did. I really like the old Toyota's.
chicmagnetwampa1
1970 Celica is a beauty
Pickapair
I have a 1980, the last generation RWD. Great car, wish I had the time to give it the care it needs/deserves.
acannicc
I've got a 1977 black with japanese mirrors ^^
mercinari82
I cant believe thats a toyota
BrianThatIsCalledBrian
The 76 and 77 GT Liftback was a beautiful car. Getting harder and harder to find.
chrishallett83
Toyota's designers were pretty keen on the Mustang, and it shows.
hoffbox
Hard to believe looking at today's models, but for a few isolated moments here and there, Toyota had some real class.
hoffbox
Case in point: http://gtspirit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/1968-Toyota-2000-GT-3.jpg
whyteraven74
Group C was insane, I feel bad for any race car fans who weren't around to see it. There's nothing close to it today.
hertz60
I got see the Group C cars run at Sebring during the 80's. The 962, XJ-9, Toyota, Mazda and Nissan of the late 80's were legendary
whyteraven74
And they were so fast they had to put two chicanes in on the Straight of Mulsanne at Le Mans cause they were hitting 250 mph.
SecretCatPolicy
What happened to this? Those cars were the apple of my slot-racing eye when I was a kid. So much prettier than F1 cars.
whyteraven74
The FIA decided that they'd have Group C cars running on 3.0 liter V-10s aka F1 engines, the idea was it would keep costs down cause the...
whyteraven74
engine makers would produce so many engines and you could use existing engines. Yeah, it drove everyone out of the series in 2 years.
zma123456
I honestly would like to see cars on imgur than naked girls
sonotfunnyName
Naked cars and girls.
Anothersomeotherusername

The72ndRaven
Don't need the naked girls. At all. It's old, and just shitty. I love my naked woman though!

Agreed

Combine them.

Thought about putting together a list of all the cars I've owned and what I loved and disliked about them

Your un-identified Ferrari pic that only shows the engine is a 512 S

and your last Lola looks like it might be a Lola T70 MkIII B 1969
