Seems my last blood panel had some scary markers. Looking like some fform of blood cancer. Very anemic but I have 15x the normal amount of iron in my system for a male, and my reblood cells are not the right shape.

Trying to remain calm, one breath at a time.

Starting a similar journey. I hope it all goes well for you.

Cancer sucks. Good luck out there.

This summer will be my 30th cancerversary. At the time, my treatment team reassured me that "Today is the best day to beat cancer, and every day in the future will be better."
They were right. I doubted that when I was diagnosed again 5 years ago. Treatment was much better, faster, and fewer side effects.
My best to you.

Sounds like you caught it early. That means the chances are good.
Much love and cyber support- and LET US KNOW when you’re too tired to cook and need a pizza, okay?

Cancer survivor here. All the best dude. Stay strong. Practice serenity. I'm not gonna say all going to be all right but with acceptance of the simple fact comes peace. And you're going to need it

Same. Went through cancer treatments last year. Doing something helped me more than anything. Showing up to every doctor visit, being early for every operation, all that stuff. These made me feel empowered and like i was doing something about the cancer. The drawback - it hit hard af after my last operation. Its been months and i still have days where i just cry most of the day. Hell, im doing it now just thinking about it.

I’m also waiting further investigations for something potentially nasty. At least I still feel relatively fine. Take it day by day, OP. Good luck to you

I think it was M.D. Anderson in Texas that helped my best friend with a blood borne disease? Kind of like The Mayo Clinic. All the best lucks to you friend.

Hm. Big C bro here. I hear you. My blood panels are off too. Can’t chemo til it fixed. And they can’t find why red cells n platelets n whites are all low all time. Aplastic anemia or Myelodysplastic syndrome. So I get transfusions for now. Possible: previous chemo F Up blood cell making mechanism.

I wish you strength and health

Good luck. Modern medicine has come a long way. I have a blood condition, and would see an oncologist every quarter. Things stabilized and now I go once a year. I wish you a similar outcome.

I'm so sorry. My cervix tried to kill me but I got off easy, surgery only. I hope you have supportive people around you, and if not, I hope we internet strangers can be your support. Men's mental health is criminally undersupported.

Great song to help minute-to-minute: the power is here now by Alex Chellun. Listen to it a few times on repeat and you will find your breath. Best.

If you need up needing lots of new blood you can have mine. Little middle aged though.

My mother was diagnosed a few years ago with precancerous multiple myeloma, my sister was just diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. She had a colonoscupy bag put in last week. She was very happy to no longer be full of shit.
Fuck cancer.

Hubs had too much iron in his blood because of his cancer. They basically leached him to reduce the iron.

Sorry to hear that.

1) Don't hesitate to ask for help, especially if a friend of a friend have stellar people connections who can help get you in contact with a renown hospital/oncologist.
2) Get a 2nd opinion from an Oncologist to help make sure that they are in alignment.
3) Ask your Oncologist if a Genomic Profiling (from Tempus) is good for you because this may result in a chemo drug that specifically targets the disease.

4) If your Oncologist suggests a Mediport, get that ASAP. You will need this for infusions and for blood work.
5) Stand on the shoulders of giants by joining Support Groups so that you gain knowledge from survivors and active patients. Then use that knowledge that best fits your situation.

Ive already had a gene sequence, we are looking at 3 genes rhat could have flipped which could help witth a treatment plan. I appreciate your info. Big hugs

Also, ask questions. Lots of questions. Lost both my parents to cancer but my Mom made it to a 2nd fight by being thorough. Also can't stress enough the importance of 2nd opinions. Peace of mind knowing the diagnosis and treatment course are in alignment. Don't hesitate to ask about clinical trials too, especially if you caught it early. Your best friends and close family will be there too, so don't leave them in the cold. They know it's scary too. Big hug, my dude. Fuck Cancer. You got this.

There is a new link between high iron and chronic cluster headaches which ive done for 28 years. There is a glimmer of hope if they fix the iron maybe i can fix the cluster headaches

Stay away from Magneto then.

Honestly, aside from his general hatred and mistrust of humans, that could work. A little finger wag and your iron levels are normal. A dear friend is fighting the same fight right now. I hope Oprah shows up soon, "...you get a cure, and you get a cure! Everyone gets a cure!" Stay strong, I'll do the same.

@OP Diagnosed with Leukemia 3 weeks ago. Been in hospital ever since. Haven't started chemo because when my blood cells tanked a minor infection blossomed into a major health risk. I got the necrotizing fasciitis inside my butt and an ostomy bag and my whole life got flipped turned upside down...so like, if you wanna chat, just DM me. I've seen my fair share of shit this month. Maybe I can use it to help someone.

Hugs dear, i hope you get through this

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hugs right back at you ArtSparkle. It can be pretty scary, and when it comes, it comes at you fast. I've got a good support structure and good doctors, but all I can tell you right now is to watch out for secondary infections (you have no immune system right now) and be extra mindful of injury and falls. What would've been a minor bruise weeks ago could become something serious without platelets.

Take every day slow and be extra vigilant until you get to see your oncologist.

And Breathe.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ive noticed the random bruises and have avoided anyone who is rhe least bit sick like the plague. Tha k you kindly for all the advice. It is deeply appreciated, cant thank you enough

Something else that I wasn't aware of until my white blood cells dropped off was that you actually carry a large amount of bacteria in your body at all times, but USUALLY your immune system can fight it off. However when your immune system tanks, sometimes those bacteria can multiply.

Getting blood cultures started ASAP is super important. In the meantime, HYDRATE. They're going to need to do a lot of blood draws at first and being able to find a vein was hard as I was dehydrated.
