You are bad people

I finally got vaccinated against Corona today, and I am totally relieved!

All the time I was scared that I end up in hospital or worse as we have non-compliant jerks everywhere. Now that's a weight off my shoulders!

I got J&J, so I'm done with this 1 shot and just need to wait for it to be effective.

Most viral edit: Thanks for your stories and best wishes. 19 hrs later, it's still just a very sore arm, nothing else. Maybe I'm lucky...
Comic is from xkcd.com. Sorry, I didn't have a source when I posted.

TLDR: crazy online system for scheduling vaccination appointments

Here in Germany, appointments are still given out in strict order (acc. to peoples' age, pre-existing illness, working position...), and are in my county's (Ba-Wü) online system very hard to get. Online vaccination dates are only released when vaccine doses are actually available in a center. You need a personal code, which you only get if you're lucky to find a free date for your age group in the first place. (Those are hardly available because we still don't have enough vaccine.) By the time you found one and have entered your personal data which is necessary for the date's reservation, the date is usually already taken by someone else, but at least you got your code. For each vaccination center, you need an own code! If you want to check 3 centers, you need to go through this procedure 3 times. It's crazy!

It took hubby and me a full week of checking the websites (yes, several) dozens of times per day each - just for my date. After 5 days of madness, we had 1 code (aiming for 2), and after 6 days, I finally got my appointment. And I think there was also a lot of luck involved...

I hope that as we get more doses, this system will be easier to use - right now, you need to check often and you need to be quick. How seniors do this is beyond me...

You can, of course, also ask your doctor. If you're eligible, they put your name on a list and call you when sth. is available.
It can only get better!

I got my second Moderna dose last Thursday. My mom felt slighted when I told her she was freaking out over nothing. Lol

Mine was Pfizer and a glitch in vacc. invites. No online scheduling, by phone: 14 days 40 km. away. Next day: in 1,5 hour in my home town.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just got my 2nd today as well! Now we wait the 2 week period for effectiveness :)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now you can say "Fuck you, I got mine" and leave the deniers to their own consequences!

My birthday present to myself on Wednesday night - vaccine jab. Woot!!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whenever I walk out in public and see a crowd of people breathing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel your pain. I was in tears over this. Here in the US vaccine angels got my appt for me. After weeks of me loosing them.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2nd shot last Wed. It's Monday night and I still feel like garbage from it. Sacrifices

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Keep an eye on the zombie side effects

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me too my German friend! Shot 1/2 Pfizer. I was super excited. Hello from WA USA!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man you're lucky. In my country I doubt I will get vaccinated before the end of the year :(

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congratulations! I'm getting my first shot this Thursday (Moderna or Pfizer) and I'm really looking forward to it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@OP your story is making me feel better about my province's reservation system (Ontario, Canada). Thanks for the perspective...and congrats!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, I think nobody on here isn't familiar with XKCD but how can you just not credit the source like this?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Cos it was send to me and I didn't know the source. Sorry.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Second shot tomorrow! Woohoooo! :D

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looking forward to mine. I think July is a realistic date. No vacation this year once again, but I honestly was not expecting it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Neither have I. And I am a travel person! My more optimistic co-workers are getting frustrated now cos their plans get canceled...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm officially fully vaxxed tomorrow, two weeks since my second dose. Not sure how I'll handle being expected to go to family stuff again.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can relate. I won't be telling at work for a while. Currently doing remote work, but am afraid they will make me come in when I'm "safe".

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My work already knows, since I scheduled a day off for recovery time after the second dose. I already have to go in anyway though.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I felt like shit after my 2nd Pfizer, joints so sore couldn’t walk straight down stairs, fever too, but still so happy and proud I’m done!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Weird, I had chills but no fever, and zero energy or appetite.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had some of that one evening, but it was pretty much gone by morning.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The process you went through sounds similar to what I had to do back in April in the US. So happy you got yours!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That is crazy. My county opted for a single file waiting list. People were allowed to register in tiers, based on age or other criteria.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Once you got to the top, there was an appointment and vaccine available for you, either from county health svc or a medical provider.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

County controlled all the vaccines and parceled it out to cover the appointments. Worked really well.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Until the federal govt created chaos by giving vaccines directly to pharmacies. Then younger people scrambled all over trying to find slots

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Comic is from xkcd.com for those interested in sources.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What's the joke? March 2020 goes on forever, then you get to May 2021?

4 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 7

It's about the lockdowns in Germany, I think. We're in the 3rd wave right now, with rules that were legislated on the federal level.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think the message is that life basically froze when covid hit, and only after finally being vaccinated can we resume normal lives again.

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

It was originally supposed to last only for a month. But people didn't take safety measures.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

They missed a month ...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Despite my phobia of needles, I'm excited to be getting mine on the 28th. Finally moved to my age group.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If it helps, it's a REALLY quick shot. I couldn't even feel the needle the way she squeezed my arm. You sit under observation longer than it

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

takes to get the shot.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I appreciate the thought, but it does not. The phobia is of needles as a whole.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got my first Moderna vaccine today. I have a low grade temperature and my arm is killing me. I’m not looking forward to the 2nd dose.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've got 2 moderna now, the worst part was te arm soreness. Five days later my arm is still slapping me. And it ITCHES like a mosquito bite

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But you're not immune, just more resistant to the virus strand

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The point is that the vaccine prevents you from Serious hospitalization or DEATH

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah....ok....

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know that. But I am (or will be) protected from a severe disease course, from ICU, and I won't die of it. I will still be careful.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yes, but well done on taking the steps to prevent possible spread. Always be careful, we don't want to lose too many people in this world

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats! I was scheduled for the J&J April 15th (when my state opened for my age group), but they paused J&J and cancelled my appointment!

4 years ago | Likes 124 Dislikes 1

I got JJ yesterday. Today started off as hell. Then I ate Chinese food and slept for 8 hours. And feel mostly human. Arm still hurts

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Got mine 36 days ago! Im protected and feeling a bit happy

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I was only finally able to get it last Monday. So frustrating! Pausing J&J was the worst decision.

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Well, safety first. Here, J&J is as of today recommended for 60 yrs and above, but open for everyone who wants it, after consultation 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

with the doctor. You are vaccinated now, that matters, so congrats back!

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Afaik J&J doesn't require refrigeration and was much easier to roll out. Has issues but still saves lives. Glad you got yours!!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Five more weeks before I get my second shot of AstraZenica. Twelve weeks feels like a very long time, but I know I'm lucky to get it at all

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I’m estimated to be fully vaccinated by December..

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

12 weeks isn't too bad, compared to Canada's 16 weeks.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Will you get Astra again? My husband's second date is this weekend, he got Astra first and will now have to get an mRNA vaccine.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes, NHS only gives complete courses & mixing doesn't count. I may be offered a booster from a different source if variants are a concern.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Other authorities may have other rules, and there will inevitably be trials on mixing sources, but for now it's not done here (AFAIK)

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ok, thanks.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow, interesting! I didn't know the science was out about mixing types! What country are you in?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm in Germany, and here, the vector vaccines are not recommended for under 60 years. Hence, 2nd shot mRNA. Since our booking system 1/x

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

considers this, dates for Astra won't be offered for your age group. Existing dates will be switched to mRNA, provided they have some. 2/x

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now they are afraid they're running out of Biontech and Moderna cos they need so much for the booster shots that were formally Astra. 3/3

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats!!! I just got my 2nd Pfizer shot 20 minutes ago, so relieved. ?

4 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 2

This is the way.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get lots of rest and drink water ? I felt like shit the next day after my 2nd but worth it!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fookin A, u guys! Happy for ya, and glad you're part of the solution!

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

i got mine a few days ago, didn't feel anything afterward. my gf, however, got hit pretty hard.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I got my second one last thursday, my arm hurt quite a bit but by the next day it was pretty much better.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dear God prepare for a day of hell... That's totally worth it! But yeah take off work if at all possible.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Make sure you have plenty of your namesake. It tends to suck the next day or two. But so worth it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Congrats back - it's a great feeling!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It doesn't continue to be a great feeling, take it from me. :D Still worth it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was so liberating, even if I am still pretty much staying home. I think I've become a little bit agoraphobic over the past year. #

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good luck tomorrow. The liklyhood that you're gonna feel like poo is PRETTY good. Like, if you can, take they day off.

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Thanks, I could if I needed it. For now, it's still just a now very sore arm...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

An NPR article said it's roughly 50/50. On the plus side, it should only be 24-48 hrs of BLEH before suddenly feeling better.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Def depends. Advil and was better. It’s not too bad. Just fever for me. Never missed work. Just prepare for some reaction and be happy!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

got mine friday, was down all weekend, but by lunch today I was good to go

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I felt fine after the first shot of moderna. Is the second shot worse?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe? https://www.npr.org/990992425 All that said is "roughly half," but doesn't say if there's a difference between first vs second. Word

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

around Imgur parts is that the second may be worse, but that's a big maybe. I had both and all I ever got was a sore arm; same as I get from

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m getting it either way. I was just curious. Thanks!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And yet in the US, vaccine demand is plummeting due to vaccine hesitation. States are sending surplus the vaccines back or begging 1/

4 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 3

Ya this country is full of just useless, in the way people. Nuke america (mostly the Midwest lol)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Looks like it’s stabilizing around 2M/day. If we can hold that rate for a while yet we’ll still be fine.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Where I live in the US vaccine appointments are booked in advance for weeks. I guess YMMV depending on the area.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Whoa. After my group opened up, I got an appoint in 6 days. I'm in Oregon.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This makes me so mad. The other day kit friend said the pharmacist was walking around FM asking people if they wanted one.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And then when you compare that to a state like India, it’s more upsetting.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my work had a "back to work" discussion over teams and i discovered several people i thought weren't idiots are in fact idiots. and antivax

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Have one of those, too. Was shocked. She's into alternative medicine and Reiki. Her biggest worry is long-term effects OF THE VACCINATION!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now everyone is entitled to their opinion, but she also tries to convince others, and that's a big no for me.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can they express what they are afraid of?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well one of the is a nightshift moleman. So probably not.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't seen a single shred of evidence the vaccine doesn't make you spontaneously combust after 5 years!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right, see above - one of my co-workers actually wirries about long-term effects ofthe vaccination. This is not /s!!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tried to mention something like ~99% of vaccine side effects occur within the first 8 weeks, blank faces

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*worries

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

or bribing people to get vaccinated. While the rest of the world is struggling and eager to get any vaccine into arms, Americans are like

4 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 2

-the dumbest most selfish fucks on this planet that eat up propaganda and conspiracies so they can feel smart and smug.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish the bribery worked in retrospect. Had mine in April, can I have a free bear NOW?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

**beer, but I wouldn't say no to a bear either.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if it's any consolation, vaccine hesitation is very common in Europe as well, it's not just the US. And they're low on doses.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Hey, never pass up an opportunity to shit on the US, even when they get something right (wayy more vaccined people than Europe)

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

I don’t like any of the three choices on the menu because of some “research” I’ve done sitting on the toilet. We don’t deserve what we have.

4 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

When I got my 1st shot they were going door to door because they had so many extras but still used them all.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh fuck you. In this area, the US is so far ahead of the rest of world its laughable. Our fully vaxx rate is over 3x Germany.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 15

Yeah, sadly it’s not only in the US...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“Most” Americans are getting the vaccine. Problem is it’s not enough for herd immunity. Don’t worry, we think they’re idiots too.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Honestly I don’t care, if you don’t want it then don’t get it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

American here. It’s truly appalling that one man can come in and in 4 years completely tear the system down. Democracy is at stake for 1/

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

first time in this nations history. We have people that are just mean and want to hate because Fox News tells them to do so. It’s very sad.
