You're going to find this hard to believe, but the problem is the same as any law in America that allows police to bypass citizen rights. Red flag laws are implemented in ways that involve racial bias and homophobia. They're also a way to enable SWATing if the perpetrator is clever.

I didn't say anything like that leap in logic you made. Nothing changes. Just the middle class like to think they are closer to beinf billionaires when they are nowhere near that. They're much more close to being homeless than the next Warren Buffet. But give the comfortable working class a reason to look down on those just a little below them in solidarity with the real robber barons and the rest takes care of itself.

Ill say that there was a time where there was real middle class people, so it made a lot more sense. I think today a middle class person might be someone who has maybe 10 million dollars. That's far from being a billionaire, but its enough that they are unlikely to go broke from health issues, and they dont have to work a job if they never want to. Its just that the percentage of people in that position has dwindled.
