The grave of a child at the Soviet cemetery in Pyongyang

"Pushkareva Lilya Borisovna"

#3 If your army marches like this? You're the bad guys.

Those poor women working as guards that have to wear heels all the time. Wow.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Beautiful people, I feel so bad for them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm going there for New Year. It's going to be fascinating.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We'll be expecting a post about it.

I love that the launch trucks for the drones also have that "sky camo" nobody gonna see those flying trucks coming.

Neat!

North Korea, the nation-state equivalent of the short bus

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Mosins, PPsH, PPDs, and Katyushas. Except for the alleged nukes, these guys are WW2 era.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He's definitely set off nukes. Just not sure he can deliver them in a successful manner

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Their air force is 20% Shenyang J-5, first flight 1956. It has no radar and can't carry missiles, rockets or bombs, it has 3 cannons.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So an A-10 could probably take it in a furball.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of North Korea looks like they are stuck in 1945.

9 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 1

Basically you're seeing the effects of "Stuff that the USSR was willing to give away for free in 1970" syndrome.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Which caused them some problems after 1991.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This seems like a puff piece: "Look! It's not so bad!"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Many bothans died to bring us this information

9 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 2

stop sending bothans.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

But they're cheap.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sent bothans to pick up coffee. Dead. All of them.

You are quite the traveler, good sir. I wish you a safe journey.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hope the first row doesn't stop!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As Chinese, I feel NK is like a mentally retarded little brother we happened to protect when US tried helping him using brain surgery.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hi mate, I'm looking through my old posts and I saw your comment. I agree. North Korea needs to at least liberalize. Are you a main-lander?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just a guess, but I'm thinking about 6 combat brigades could wipe out their entire military. Worse, they don't know it.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DPRK military leaders are well aware, strategy is to kill as many people in Seoul/RoK as poss. Hence artillery & nukes. That's the defence.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love that they use a tractor to tow military equipment

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I love that they are using world war 2 weaponry.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

calling in from 2022

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Equipment I could probably build in my garage.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Problem there is, the population is so indoctrinated I'm not sure democracy or freedom would work.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There seem to be a lot of female soldiers, so... Yay equality?

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Speaking as a Soviet historian, a lot of socialist countries were generally less sexist than in the West. Women could (1)

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Have all sorts of jobs. The Soviet/Pact militaries had a lot of women, just not in combat roles. (2)

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

yea, they are also free to starve to death or get executed by the commisars, but hey, lets bitch some more about societal expectations.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

The USSR definitely had some serious rights issues, but it wasn't the lawless wasteland you make it out to be l, especially after Stalin.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Never said it was lawless, I said it was a shit hole, and I frankly hate it when people laud it for stupid shit that served no one.

I get the feeling that the classroom with computers is just for photographs.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You'll see computers in their language classrooms. Here are some more if you're interested: /a/OhlZo

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We will see what the regime wants us to see.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That class? Maybe. But they do have doctors, scientists, linguists etc. who probably do have access to real ones.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No doubt, but in a country that can't even feed its people I somehow think most of these photos are simply staged propaganda.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, like in the Vice documentary they did. You should check it out if you haven't seen it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed having a proper gander at this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The really high heels on the female soldiers confuse me

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The military leaders hats look like they were made by Jiffy Pop.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know saying this feels hopeless, but I really hope the country and those people will be free one day...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty fantastic photos of people, although maybe a little crazy, still being people.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Go check out the youtube channel of Jaka Parker if this sparked your interest. It's a dude in NK walking around with a GoPro.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL North Korea is 95% military

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hi old comment lol. But the North restricts what people see and their military is one of the things their obviously proud of. Sorry so many

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

photos are of military stuff.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't describe into words how much I hate this man, his father, and the shit gov officials. Hes a modern day Hitler.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I don't think so.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hitler was far more cultured and charming.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also they publically executed a guy, for falling asleep in a meeting (allegedly), with an anti aircraft gun in the city square.

9 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 1

Except that didn't happen. Reported by SK, which has been wrong enough on random NK executions that you should be skeptical.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks. That's just not as interesring though is it. It conjured images of a Roman execution by ballista or something.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know, right? Reality can be way more dull, sometimes in lame ways. The siege of antioch is way more boring if the spear aint real.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was at a parade grounds for the anti aircraft execution. Slouching guy was firing squad. Google has image of anti aircraft execution

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

It has been reported both ways, thanks to there being no actual evidence or source outside of SK. Link in second post.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thanks for details Piewhore.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

He also executed a general by having him stand on huge bullseye and had a mortar shell dropped on him. He's trying to out do his dad

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Also allegations that he has used flamethrowers for executions

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm surprised no one has assassinated him yet

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And Army minister Kim Chol was mortared to death. Although tbh I think I'd prefer that to botched lethal injection.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Is there a video

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Or hungry dogs.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn't happen.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Thanks

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Huh, that's for letting me know. I guess that's how rumors spread.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No problem bro. And honestly, kudos to you. One of the few who has responded positively. More often than not I get railed on for it. Thx <3
