Just so we're clear, European Honeybees, the non-native to North America species everyone wants to 'save' because it makes more money than other species, has increased in colonies by around 30% since 2007 when CCD(Colony Collapse Disorder) was in full swing. The main cause was identified years ago, it was pesticides and shitty testing by the FDA. Oh, nice stingers.
I mean that’s just not true. Do you work for Monsanto or something? I would like resources here but anyone can search for “colony collapse rate” and find multiple sources citing record colony loss rates in 2023.
Not entirely sure about that (the cause being identified). Everywhere I looked basically say the same thing "The mechanisms of CCD are still unknown" Simultaneous exposure of 2 or more stressors seems to be the likely cause, but again, not proved.
Yes. Commercial honeybees are not at risk. It's the native bees, like bumblebees, that need help. Commercial honeybees actually provide completion for native species. Habitat reclamation & banning harmful pesticides, like neonicitonoids, is the answer. Before you buy plants or seeds, ensure the company doesn't use those pesticides. Don't worry, they'll tell you loud & clear on their website if they don't. :)
oh thank god i don't need to trot out my 'not honeybees' spiel. Remember people, every single plant native to north and south america get along just fine without the european honeybee! :D we would not, in fact, starve without them! ... Native bees on the other hand..

But the European honey bee is completely killing off our local species which is much prettier, and the European cunts don't pollinate the same plants

Everyone wants to save native bees. We also like honey bees to stick around. Pesticides especially Neonictinoids harm both

“mechanisms of CCD are still unknown”. Was that the study co-sponsored by Bayer-Monsanto, DowDuPont, and BASF?
