Fuck, I've had an NG tube 3 times, that was bad enough. That's nowhere near as bad as being intubated

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1) masks are great because you can judge people while you wear yours. 2) don’t have to worry about bad breath.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If they don’t get it yet, they’re hopeless.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

do nurses not do the intubation? I would think there's a bigger supply of experienced nurses than interns

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sadly this tactic doesn't work against the right becouse they don't believe in corona. And if they do, they know masks only protect... 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

2/2 ...others and not themselves. And becouse they're selfish, they won't inconvenience themselves for others.

Problem is, the people most vehemently anti-mask usually homeschool because they distrust public education. They're morons.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

The thing is, wearing a mask wont save you. Its the other people wearing masks that will. Stop spreading any bit of missinformation, anti

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maskers WILL justify their position bc you "lied"

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Considering that some medical students had to miss out on clinical rounds and on class hands on lecture time @OP, your title isn't warranted

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Make it a proctology intern...now we're talkin'.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But... the mask keeps the intern from intubating someone else. And that shit's funny! (jk wear a fuckin' mask so the nurse isn't exposed.)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fine. Bring on the "exposed" nurse jokes.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbh.....if you're smart enough to get a Doctorate in Medicine.....I'd trust them.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pssst: you shouldn't. I've met a lot of MDs that shouldn't be trusted. They mean well but they get complacent and overworked to exhaustion.

Cheers, I'll stick with the mask.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My girlfriend is a gynecology resident (2nd year) and she's not allowed near any covid+ patients. Still wear a mask tho...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bruh the fucknut with no mask will be fine by dumb luck. But they’ll infect someone’s grandma, thru her mask, while she’s getting essentials

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And I’m not talking about the fucking oils either

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is great.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

Dr. Emily has a pretty rocking hairdo!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The only time I've bitched about wearing a mask was at work. Wearing one in a sweltering engine room on your own is horrific.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My company isn’t requiring them on the factory floor for people in stationary workstations with good social distancing.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They've told us to wear them if we want to, but to be sensible. No point risking overheating down below if it can be helped.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People have to wear them if social distancing is not possible in their work area or if they’re circulating around the building.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

v intubation champions right here!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Casual reminder that masks are not mandatory in the Netherlands and we're down to 0-5 deaths a day, why? Cus we stay the fuck inside

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Hey now I’ve intubated at least three different CPR dummies and none of them have complained

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Can't complain, if they're dead.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For people who live in countries that wearing masks is normal. Do you have memes about us? Or is this too stupid?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

as we say in France, on ne tire pas sur l'ambulance. the joke has gone so far since 2016 there's no need to add anything

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But.. but... muh feelings. Muh rights!

5 years ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 8

I thought their slogan was "Fuck your feelings!"?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They do a lot of projecting... see use of "snowflake," "stealing elections," "but her emails," & an of 100 other ways in which they project.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now which hole does the gynecology intern intubate you?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The one between your anus and your urethra. If you don’t have one already they’ll make one.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I bet in a pinch it work though.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A hole is a hole, amIright?

In fairness to you, are the people around you wearing masks? Because that’s the issue, not that you have to work.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It doesn't matter what I feel about what they do. If I can't work, I can't provide. All these haters don't know what that's like. Fuck em.

Why is the name and the stick figure moving on the chalkboard

5 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Some weird stabilisation, I'm guessing.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s done to lower the file size of the gif. You crop out what you don’t need to move so it’s just a stagnant image in that part.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

There no movement in the gif except janitor and the area around the stick figure where his stick is moving.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Slight camera movement

Seriously. I work at a hardware store and I’ve been yelled at that “it’s bad for you! Whenever I put it on I feel my life draining away!”

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Like bitch I wear this for 9+ hours a day. Eat my ass.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Tbf, you have to get used to them, I struggled a lot, but wore one at my house without the nose snug, when it got easier, made it snug

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Now I forget I'm wearing it

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I work in a pizza shop. Very physical activity, lots of flour in the air. I'm suffocating two hours in. Literally experiencing co2 tox.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I still wear the mask, just taking regular breaks to refresh my body.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Granted, they're cheapass paper masks that corporate sent us one (1) time at the beginning of the pandemic, and never again BUT

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Again, something that mostly happens in the us.. Seriously what happened guys? Your population was so brilliant only 50years ago..

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

The first generation worked, the next generation went to college, the third generation... snowboarded and took improv classes.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, no. It's probably always this bad. We just have the idiots a platform to stand on when they rant. Before we kept them hidden.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Conservative media funded by Murdoch, the Kochs, etc. have poisoned the country into distrusting experts and voting against their interests.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Constant defunding of the education system coupled by a heavy push of US vs Them politics pushing us further away from compassion & empathy.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Too many morons and not enough natural selection

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

"But it fogs up my glasses!" Yeah I'm sure that's waaaay more inconvenient than dying to Corona

5 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 0

The foggy glasses are bad. Imagine going blind every other second haha. But you're right, the alternative is worse.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

to be fair, if you're dead, you have no more problems.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bought a mask and a shitload of filters off amazon for 20 bucks. It doesnt fog up my glasses and its way easier to breathe in. Lazy people

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can get anti fog solutions. Some surgical masks have either plastic or foam strips at the top. We wear goggles and masks in OR regularly

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

[don't intubate me]

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The glasses fogging is a PITA, but not near as much of one as the alternative.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What does type of bread have to do with anything here

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The masks can be modified with a wire. Due to glasses, I will be doing this.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've made mine that way from the beginning because everyone I know wears glasses or sunglasses (AZ is bright af, too much sun) if you get>>

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>>the thicker little metal strips, it stays better than the wire, keeps the shape you pinch it to better :)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have glasses. I tend to make smaller more frequent breaths to avoid big exhales. Even then the fog in glasses is as easy to adapt to...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

... as having long hair go over your eyes. You can adapt to getting used to it. It's definitely worth any inconvenience to stay safe.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I just take my glasses off.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clean your lenses with soap & water. Should keep them from fogging up for a little while.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have no idea. My GF complains about her masks all the time and I'm like fuck it I'm use to it

5 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Its easier to get used to (and safer) if you just leave it on while your out of the house.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

oh she knows, she works in the ER and they started enforcing masks about a month and a half ago. Still takes time getting use to.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Fair, i appreciate her work in these times. Ive been really trying not to give her more work haha

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Hahaha just wear the masks

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Is there any way to help it stop hurting your ears so much?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can 3d print things that hold the straps behind you head, I bet you could buy them on etsy

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got a printer, I'll see if I can find any patterns

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're all over thingaverse.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get the ones that tie getting your head. If not see if you can get a bigger size because they shouldn't hurt for short periods of time

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm on the autism spectrum and have MAJOR sensory problems. They hurt as soon as I put them on, even if loose. Behind the ears sensitive.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try the one that tie instead of loop around the ears. Other option is a face cover

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbf it really fucks with makeup sometimes and I hate feeling restricted. I don’t actively bitch, but I do dramatically rip it off every time

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I get home/to a place where I don’t need it and I’ll chunk it across the room with a small huff. Jewelry is suffocating to me to though

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you think wearing a mask sucks, try a ventilator and see which you prefer. Choose one, responsibly, before the choice is made for you.

5 years ago | Likes 520 Dislikes 11

Haven’t ventilators proven to be pretty ineffective for covid treatment? I mean I get your point, though.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Fairly though, I wear a mask but I have medical orders not to be put on a ventilator ever.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What does that mean? Like a do-not-recesitate order, or will you die if you go on a ventilator?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

DNR, and a refusal to be put on a ventilator under any circumstances through a lawyer.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I say no to ventilators, that's just the gummint and bill gates trying to force 5g into you to make frogs gay, and I aint no coward

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Someone in the Twitter thread suggested everyone watch an intubation video. Someone posted one. ? Wear a damn mask people.

5 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 2

As the guy who was the example dummy for everything in my EMT classes I never want anything near my airways ever again.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I volunteered to take a nasal tube during our field training. Never. Again.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just swallow

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I watched enough episodes of everything from St. Elsewhere to House to know a friggin mask is the easier, better choice.

5 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Respiratory therapist chiming in, it ain't fucking pretty

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

If it is anything like getting a feeding tube put in, you really don't want it. Worst experience I've ever had.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It is infinitely worse!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Goes right down the throat. Not fun times

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

most masks people wear won't prevent them from getting the disease. The point is to get EVERYBODY wearing masks to protect the vulnerable

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I swear to dog, these mental defectives don't have the capacity to understand what's at stake

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Are you trying to tell me lives are at stake from a disease that's killed half a million people? Lol I don't believe you

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Until they do (too late), and then they express regret (too late), which all the other smacktards simply ignore.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Been fine without either, maybe it's my young age and non smoking nutritious diet and active lifestyle. Downvotes incoming

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 13

"Been fine without airbag and seatbelts, maybe it's my new car and air freshener and racing people at stoplights.Downvotes incoming"-analogy

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

"I haven't had it yet" is not a good reason to not be careful. And anecdotal evidence is not necessarily representative of the whole.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You can't just avoid them by saying "downvotes incoming". A) If you haven't gotten sick yet, you're much more likely to if you don't wear...

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

...a mask. B) If you have gotten sick, or get sick, you are putting so many more people at risk for getting sick by not wearing a mask...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

...I agree that given my age and health, I'm unlikely to die or need a ventilator if I get COVID. But I don't want to put people around...

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

...me in danger, so I wear a mask out of consideration for them. It's just the right thing to do.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2
