We were asked by the manager of a apartment block “to do something because it was impossible to live like this anymore”, because of a one room apartment in which an old lady had 29 cats in hellish conditions.
After an evaluation visit we realised that we did not have a long term solution and it would have been much easier for us to refuse any involvement, blaming anything: lack of space, time, funds, clear plans, no solutions for the animals or under one’s personal dignity.
Nevertheless, this Sunday morning we went there, to try save the cats and start cleaning the apartment.
All the cats were caught and taken to the clinic, where they were evaluated, treated and spayed. Now we find ourselves in an awful situation: we have 29 souls in our clinic, all cats coming from one single pair, not in their best health, scared, and the last thing we want is to bring them back.
In their names we ask for your help: by 15 March we must find solutions for as many cats as possible, such as: temporary accommodation (in quarantine) or permanent adoption. We ask for help for anyone that could get involved: charities, veterinary practices, shelters, private persons. Unfortunately, they cannot remain in the clinic after Tuesday. ( Bucharest, Romania)

Update: Thanks to an impressive mobilisation on FB and media, almost half of the rescued cats found an adopter (3 cats) or a foster (11 cats) all around the country in less than 2 days. We thank you so much!
There are left 15 other cats that wait their chance. Please don't forget about those either...

It's good you did all you could. It's up to fate now.

Wish I could help but I'm in the US. Good for you for trying to help.Up voting to help more people see this.

So... are the 15 dead?
cwagrant
I feel terrible but you constantly saying the cats need a solution just makes me want to make a final-solution Hitler joke.
Spidey209
+1 for helping
waitforitk
I know these people need mental health support but it's so hard not to be upset at them. Those poor cats. It's just not okay. Not okay.
JustAnotherFace77
Idc if it's a lovely old lady thats still animal abuse
madetheaccountjustforyou
It's not like there isn't a surplus of cats. Why not just put them down and free up some resources for ones in better shape?
YouAreTheOnly10ISee
So your a kill shelter....
VindictiveRidge
It appears to be a veterinary clinic, not a shelter; they probably don't have the facilities/personnel to manage that many animals.

Add the link for their rescue site, there's a PayPal people can donate to. http://visulluanei.org/

I inspected a house like this once, vacant for two years, urine odor still present
UnderComplicated
Some times euthanasia is the kindest solution.
paukkumaissi

Mycologics

I have been in hoarding situations before. Thank you for stepping in. It is always a terrible scene
CarpeMe
Saw a similar situation in the first season of Hoarders. Most of the cats on that episode had to be euthanized. Hopefully not the case here.
bekind2joeblake
I think I saw that too. They were all sick and feral. So sad
rattlesnail
And some were inbred too I think.

chinese restaurant?
querolasaberdisso
Oh come on, we eat dogs, not cats. Are the Europeans that eat cats believing they are rabbits.

"Dachhasen" (roof rabbits) ... 8-D
Sortovalta
Holy shit, this is horrible. How could bringing them back be an option? In weeks it would be the same situation all over again.
Irina2410
they want to find a new home for cats, because it s impossible to bring them back , in the dirty apartament.
Sortovalta
Looks like the lady needs help too. Poor cats. I've seen something similar, when I took care of rescued cats. Never this bad, tho'.

If the other option is the needle...
nerdyvet
The needle is kinder.
newyorksfinestpizza
The old lady was also in that hellish situation. What happened to her? I hope everyone gets out ok.
CoCoKunt
I was wondering the same thing.
shutyourpieholedouche
Yeah she clearly couldn't look after her self for a long time, since the cats all breed from one pair it seems like she started off with two
Irina2410
A group of volunteers will help her with the house , food and money. Don t worry
shutyourpieholedouche
2/2 then were left to their own devices to bread, none of them look starving, it could have been a lot worse, seems like she kinda tried...

I would've shared this on Facebook but I'm in Trinidad and I only have 25 friends, none of whom are abroad. Upvote for awareness though.

thank you for your share

Trinidad!! What part? I've been there working at a camp in Siparia three summers. Also travelled around and have been diving in Tobago.
ErrantTerrain
I live in San Fernando. I recently went on a hike close to the Siparia area, in Penal.
mokuwahine
I just saw this for some reason haha. I love San Fernando! And all of T&T. Can't wait to visit again someday.

Next time you're coming send me a message, we can hang out!
