There's a ton of Netflix animated series that are guilty of this. They're in such a rush to get an episode out they cheap out and do crap like that. And anime. The later season of Seven Deadly Sins are unwatchable.
Great bit! I have to say though, season 2 side plots and soap opera has been boring and dragging on. Most (not all) of the action scenes don't seem as impactful as the first season. Season 2 has been dissapointing for me.
I thought the scene was a waste of time tbh. Especially since they kinda already did this bit in the season 2 trailer for the show last year. I get its from the comic but its just filler.
its not really woosh when i understand what theyre doing, its just a massive waste of time. practically everyone does this bit these days. but fanboys gunna fanboy i guess.
not everyone watches trailers my dude, this on the other hand was a funny scene from the comics and adapting it to animation while maintaining the spirit of the joke was not a "waste of time"
Imagine superman coming to earth as an adult instead of a child. He has kid with one of the women of earth but it's all a rouse because superman is really an advanced scout for space nazis and everything he did while on earth was to send feedback on when the most optimal time to invade. The son however gets super powers too and learns that his father is a space nazi. Invincible (the son's super hero name) vows to stop his father and the space nazis.
Yeah I do but can we all just address the elephant in the room, waiting so long for a 2nd season for them to make us wait again mid season is kinda fucking stupid.
I love Invincible. Bits and pieces of the original comic have aged badly with regards to some early '00s variety homophobia, but that def gets course corrected and the overall the series is excellent
Never realised how open shows were about making a mockery of gay characters until I looked back.
Like an openly gay character in an action movie was fated to die a comedic/stupid death.
Or it would be an “ew” gay surprise - Bedazzled where he thinks he’s finally got the wish right and then there’s an effeminate man waiting in his bed, lolol turns out he’s been wished gay. The worst side effect of all!
I still don’t think gay characters are done right, but it’s better?
For sure. 20 years ago it seemed comedians thought homophobia and transphobia were peak comedy. I didn't recognize it at the time, but as an adult who doesn't fit into the hetero/cis box, most popular comedies have NOT aged well.
I’ll be straight with you internet stranger, I’ve had to work hard on homophobia. Grew up in an era where it was a thing to mock or fear, from schoolyard talk to TV representation. When I started having friends come out, and when I got a job as a nurse, I had to start reflecting deeply, do a lot of reading, listen to academic discussion on LGBTQI rights and equality. I’m better, but still working. I just know I can’t let myself be comfortable and relax, which is what “privilege” is I suppose.
Ohhhh... I think I know who you're talking about. I never read the series but I remember seeing one particular page from later in the series. When I saw that character in the show I remember thinking "man, I wish I didn't know this spoiler."
I only knew three things about Invincible. One was the Season 1 ending fight, as I had won a comic that was basically a catch-up of that. The bit up there about cutting corners and repeating panels. And this other character, and what they do. (I later doubled down on that and went and looked up way more spoilers about it.)
Oh I'm sure that's just Amazon giving the finger to people like me that got Prime JUST so I could watch Invincible, and then cancelled after I got to see it. I would have to reup just to watch the new episodes.
it's explicitly to keep people subbed longer. They release episodes in blocks in different months, often with a gap of a month or two, so that it is "more convenient" to just stay subbed for a couple months and wait for the new episodes to come out. Maybe watch another series and get hooked on that and its new episodes come out during the gaps of other shows. They pretty much admitted to this practice and most streaming services have similar methods.
I watched the first episode of vox and it felt like, I don't really know how to explain it, like it was trying so hard to be D&D that it felt really generic and cringey. Like it just immediately starts shovelling D&D tropes down your throat to a degree that was genuinely offputting. The overall style of writing reminded me of the Borderlands video games.

This is how I found out season 2 is out
GreaseMonkeyOfLove
I haven’t read the comic, so I spent a couple of seconds wondering why the quality of the animation dropped, then I got the joke.

I've only seen the first season but I remembered thinking this was one of the least animated animations I've ever watched.
gnomedeplume
"Have you ever noticed -"
yes I have in fact watched a lot of anime
mytruepersonality
Nah the viewers notice all the damn time. we just don't care because our brains let it pass and we get to watch our favorite shows.
Hopyrupa
This is why I come to imgur. How did I ever live life without this kind of knowledge?
TripleDane
is a new season out ?
Onlyhereforthelaughs
Second half of Season 2.

This whole scene is a 4th wall break.
4vie
Breaking the fourth wall well in both comic and cartoon! :D
wazeewa
When I saw this I laughed my ass off
thatwoodguy
Have you notice how much detail there are in some of those scenes? That's the neat thing you don't.

Actually, they've never gotten away with it with me. Which is why I dislike some anime. I'm already not an anime fan so yeah...

And Tim Robinson is the perfect voice for it
ReallyNotAVampire
I hope he figures out a way to make money off this... It's too good.

Voice actors are typically paid for their work, although residuals will be very light from the streaming service

Haven't seen Invincible. What's the premise with it?
CrimeSceneShoe
Its a lot like The Boys, but written by someone that likes superheroes as opposed to hating them.
genericanamoly
Well without giving to much away. Invincible has a dad that's practically superman. The show is very bloody and very good.
SkidMarc25
His dad may or may not need pictures of Spider-Man.

How bad are the ads? I get cheap prime because of food stamps, but I don't want to toss good money after bad to get forced annoyances.
CityYeti
It's about 2 ads per ad break, and there aren't a lot of ad breaks. At least, that's how it is for me.
xizar
Are they baked in, or you think ublockorigin/umatrix/pihole will fix it? (also been wanting to finish Ghost Story.)
CityYeti
Hmm, not sure. I don't have a regular either. It's a free student one
DanSapSan
Ublock origin on Opera browser does wonders for me.

Oooh did a new one come out?
Shybastard
Thanks for asking this. I just turned it on and bam! 3 new episodes!
HopelessNecr0mantic
They r in 2nd half of 2nd season now. So new one every Thursday evening, time zone dependant.
enterusernamehere25
only one more episode left in this season... was 2 years between the 1st and 2nd season... cant wait for 3rd season...
Illithidbane
Like when Owl House's last season was cut down from 20 episodes to 3 double-length specials.
Leonon
I like how they put half the animation budget into Amity and Luz kissing.
CityYeti
That framerate just went up, and that scene was sooo good. It was a damn good show.

I wish I didn't know about this spoiler so I'm not gonna say anymore and let something slip but I'm sure we're talking about the same thing.

Yeah, that spoiler is heavy

So this is why they came out with 4 episodes and made us wait months for the next 4.

If you do reup for one month and you like Invincible I would highly recommend watching both seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina.

Ok. Watch Critical Role, in that case. Also, wanna play Borderlands? It's neat.

i really hope they ccontinue that. great fun

do it my way, that way its freeee
Onlyhereforthelaughs
Well, I watched the first four, but rather than reup I'm just watching people react to it on YouTube.
