How to properly open a bag of charcoal

The man knows food.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Same thing with feed bags but most of the time I just rip the top off

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My main man Malcolm ?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I really thought this was going to turn out to be a joke and he was gonna rip it open at the end.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude's bbq rubs are supposed to be amazing (Killer Hogs). I just ordered some from his website; seems like a nice guy.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I had a cat and I didn't need Steve to tell me how to properly open a cat litter sand bag. How dumb are these people?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That man looks like he knows his way around BBQ prep, cook, and enjoyment.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This guy is great. Love it when people are willing to teach others and share knowledge!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As an Asian that have opened thousands of rice bags, you just tend to learn on your own

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

The guy in the video overexplained this so much I thought it was going to be some sort of joke. It's not that hard.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rice bags are NASA level engineering. I've yet to throw 1 out after only using it for rice, they're great for carrying or storing things.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

His vid on sweet porkbelly burnt ends looked so sinfully delicious that I literally teared up. How to BBQ Right, folks. Honey for the money!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's Malcolm from how to BBQ right on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/c/howtobbqright

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

v Taste the meat, not the heat!

5 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 4

Charcoal gives meat the taste of wood!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Malcolm Reed is the man

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Well Yee Fuckin Haw

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let's get to cooking!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was today years old when I learned this. OTOH, cutting open works fine too.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

His YouTube page, HowtoBBQRight, is awesome. Check it out

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Rice bags have the same. It has never worked for me. Ever

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How to open that specific bag of charcoal. Kingsford just tears right off, no string removal needed

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now do a potato sack

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's the same

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats "How to bbq right" right there.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It bothers me I can only get this to work about 1/3 of the time. Which goddam string do I pull again?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll still fuck it up and cut it open with scissors

5 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 3

I just never want the entire top open, just 1/4 or 1/2.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HowtoBBQRight on YouTube. Super friendly dude and has taught me how to do almost every smoke I do. Highly recommend if you're into it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He has a good YouTube channel

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Super helpful, but how will you be able to show off your expensive pocket knife.

5 years ago | Likes 1337 Dislikes 2

Eat the bbq using only the knife, duh. What are you, some sort of savage to use hands or forks?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Pocket knife? I've just been setting the whole bag on fire

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I like using my knife.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use my super expensive knife that I haven't sharpened in 5 years to demonstrate my hacking abilities.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who cares about the knife? I’d rather demonstrate that I’m a mf wizard

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Check out my new Benchmade edc, brah

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Stabbing someone is still an effective method, no.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

By saying "That's not a knife! THIS is a knife!"

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

stab someone, turns a cookout into a party

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll just use my more expensive pocket shotgun

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

HOLY FUCK I JUST LOOKED THAT UP HOW IS THAT REAL

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I see you're a man of culture as well

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just rip it and use pieces of the bag to start my charcoal chimney. By then end I'm out of charcoal and bag

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Expensive?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Show off your pocket knife when you cut into the meat to see if its ready!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By posting it in usersub so everyone gets a chance to see it and downvote it. Works for sneakers, too.

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I use a lighter to burn it open

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You mean my "expensive" gas station case knife?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve watched his channel for all my smoked meat needs.

Never trust a skinny chef

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s so fucking weird... I was about to say the same thing! I like this guy, and I have no idea who he is.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Malcom Reed, HowToBBQRight.com

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it’s his voice? Yeah yeah, big guy, bbq shirt... but he has a voice that I think I’d trust about anything somewhat country from.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He's got a great YouTube channel How to BBQ right.. highly recommend his ribs, brisket, pulled pork

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He looks & acts like my dad, so yeah, I automatically feel inclined to trust him.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like how he says "pro-fessional" like it's two words.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Me too ^_^ I love noticing little differences in spoken language. It's the primary reason I like watching Swamp People ☺

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He looks like he could stand to know a bit less about BBQ and a bit more about jogging.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

I’ll bet he knows to stay away from Portland and Seattle.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I'm not sure where you're going with that, but OK.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well his T shirt has a few hints

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He has a YouTube channel called how to bbq right

5 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

I've been watching him on YouTube for a long time now, he's a great wealth of knowledge for mastering the smoker.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I've gotten so many tips from this dude's vlog and YouTube stuff!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I tried making his bbq pull pork spaghetti once...

I’m sorry, is this news? Did people not know this? I’m not being an ass, I’m serious. I thought this was common knowledge.

5 years ago | Likes 265 Dislikes 36

I've seen people do it, but somehow seem to never pull on the string the right way, as it never pulls out.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does the bag have instructions on it?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aren't the bags of dog food the same, can't believe people honestly use scissors and knives to open these lol.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly I learned this from bags of chicken feed. They're 'sealed?' the same way.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You need to understand common sense isn't as common in the world. Side not: most large bags of rice open like this too.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, our horse feed comes like this and even includes instructions on how you should open the bag. Super simple.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

50 pound bags of flour also come like this, as well as bulk sesame, sunflower, and poppy seeds :D

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If the internet has demonstrated anything conclusively, it is that common knowledge ain't that common.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Just like every feed bag for a hundred years.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought that was the normal way. Always looked like a clear "pull tab" design imo.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The kitty litter bags I get look like they open the same way and probably should open the same way, but they don’t. Gave me trust issues.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Being irish thats how the big bags of spuds from the shops comes .always knew this!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How to tell whether someone grew up opening feed bags

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or works in a bakery.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or dog food, cat food, cat litter...this design was everywhere in my childhood

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up not knowing it: my dad just ripped it open. Somebody later in life showed me and it was like magic.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Nope, never occurred to me, always cut it open... but then again, I’ve maybe opened 2 bags of coal in my life

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right. My thoughts exactly

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was going to say... Octopuses can find the easiest way to open a glass jar...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought it was as well, at least it's how I'd always been opening them. But apparently not as common as we thought.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The giant bags of dog food I buy are the same. But I’m with you. I thought this was common knowledge.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

That’s how I first learned.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The thing turns into a shit fest every time I pull the string. I just cut the damm thing without even bothering to try the string now

5 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

Saaaaaameee

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you. I knew this was the design, but the string has never pulled cleanly for me.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Prob pulling the wrong side :/

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I’m glad you have your life together I hope to be more like you

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait now, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. My life is a disarray.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So much common sense/knowledge is not as common as you'd think.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lots of people know that, but just don't bother with that string.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn’t. I never used charcoal, I prefer clean burning propane. I had this issue with pet food. I think it’s something experienced 1/?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

people assume everyone else knows so they don’t realize that it might be helpful to tell people. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Farm kids everywhere: v

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

thats how every bag of horse and dog feed is for me.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Lol, I thought this was obvious until I realized I had been opening grain bags my entire life.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Same

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh, if you carry a pocket knife you can just gut the bag if need be, more fun too.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s what I was thinking too!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Plants versus Zombies movie is looking pretty sick!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is an example of why getting pissy and angry at someone for not doing something you think is common sense is poor etiquette. Its

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

really easy for us to confuse local common knowledge as global common knowledge, or even just knowledge among friends, as many folk do tend

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

to just make friends of a particular type and may trick themselves that way as well. Its not so common, particularly among places where

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

natural gas is so common it actually can cause issues with buildings incidentally built above a pocket.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And we dont close dog food this way, or really anything else. Its all an aluminum band with a staple at both ends. You pull out the staple

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

RIP the bag open, roll up the remainder bag like a man, store under your car to shield from rain.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

^This guy knows what's up

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I try it everytime but it never seems to cooperate

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

yes. It worked a couple of times for me and then pfft, never again. I cut it now to save not frustrating last brain cells into leaving.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I use the bag for pieces of paper to light my charcoal chimney so just rip it regardless

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is only common knowledge once you've learned it... Smelting iron ore isn't exactly 'new' or complex, but how many know how to do that?

5 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 6

in the smelter

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I.. I have no words.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

Thats five words right there. Although two are the same

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

haha

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More like "I have no polysyllabic words," amiright?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4
