This is good news, easier to dial and get help. This is good.

This is good. Of course considering Ajit Shit Pie runs the fcc I imagine Verizon is running it and getting big bucks for it.

About time!

Upvoted for awareness because... quite honestly... sometimes people just really need to talk.

5 years ago | Likes 186 Dislikes 4

Its not gonna happen till 2022 apparently, it takes two years to put into action across all the telecommunications networks.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Welp. Not in time to be useful for Ghislaine Maxwell.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Good because that number was way too long for someone in a crisis to remember

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like like like! Please spread this heavier than corona!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Voting for Trump should be a link to this number

Do the teachers being forced back to school and the children get anything if they call?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This needs to be universal. Everyone needs this in their darkest hour.

The first and only time I called, I got put on hold for half an hour before I hung up

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is a new system and number. Hopefully it will improve. Sorry that happened.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The hardest number ive ever dialed. This is great.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great news. How was I supposed to find out about this from the government?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why don't they ever add texting as an option for this? What about the deaf and those whom struggle with voice calls?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good thing we don't still use rotary-dial phones, that would have taken forever to dial.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So when are they stopping the spam callers?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don’t forget text 4hope to 741741 fir a free 24 hour text line.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The FCC chairman will probably charge you 12.95 a minute

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Now I'm picturing Miss Cleo doing suicide prevention hotline commercials.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And they try to keep you on the line as long as possible.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Anyone have a like to an article or official announcement?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It was on USA Today front page earlier today. I was very excited to hear about it! Such a great step forward!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm committing suicide slowly. One day at a time.

5 years ago | Likes 354 Dislikes 9

Ah. Playing the long game I see.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There was a good greentext about this.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I...might actually have that somewhere. That might be why that popped in my head.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. I hate me, why wouldn't I wanna watch me suffer?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sounds like you're commiting life

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aren't we all

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I hereby deny any and all such inquiries and allegations.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean technically ever action you take kills you a little bit. You just haven't gotten to the age where the things that keep you alive 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Are killing you faster than you heal. Just keep trucking and you'll get there eventually!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some of us really are, tho.

v

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

ahh, so you want me to speed up my suicide?

5 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

Die two days at a time. Burn short burn bright!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Eat more cheeseburgers

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's my method

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That, and chocolate.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He’s saying go bang chicks that don’t want you to bang them. Wait that came out wrong.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I think she's saying she's on the clock there. I'm not sure how that applies to suicide prevention.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

The law requires that I answer "nope"

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Genuine question: why aren’t people allowed to suicide? If you are truly suffering every day with no end in sight, who are we to force

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Because research shows the majority of suicides are impulsive and people who survive it generally report being glad they did.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

BTW, I totally understand and support the right the die. But it needs to be a careful, informed decision, and most suicides aren't.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Because people who want to commit suicide are usually not in the right state of mind to make that decision rationally. For people who ARE,

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

many countries allow medically assisted suicide, but you have to convince a doctor that your situation is actually completely hopeless.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So basically, you have to get another qualified rational person to sign off that your desire for suicide is actually rational first.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that person to go on? It’s cruel. I don’t think we should be assuming that human life is automatically a good thing. You’re never guaranteed

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

happiness. In fact, your only guarantees in life are loss and death.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

I hope in countries where it's legal have a process. A lot of failed suicides regret trying.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because a person committing suicide makes others sad, and the others' feelings matter more than that of the person in question.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Because the sky man said thats a big bad and someone made it into a law.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You ok?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’m great. I am not suicidal, just a pessimist; but thank you for checking

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel you. Np, dude.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depression and PTSD ain't so black and white, I've always thought I'd be dead by 30, now its a fuck you to me, I'll show me, live forever

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The way I see it, I've got all eternity to be dead. I might as well live it out and see if it's worth it in the end. Might not be, oh well.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can respect that. I certainly don’t plan on killing myself as I enjoy being alive, but I think we should at least question whether

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

forcing people to live in pain is morally okay. And also whether mindless procreation is inherently a good thing
