I spent a lot of time working with ROKs. US guys liked to joke: they sure can't shoot, but if the DPRK starts a king fu tournament, we good.

"Boards, don't hit back."

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice, but so useless moves.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The S. Koreans always find a way to be cute in hardcore sports, especially women's sporting events. In this, it seems they have Japan beat.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Were they doing the dance from gangnam style in that last gif?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why you never pick a fight with an Asian. You never know...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wtf? Can anybody else see nobody in the gif?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Source. Prepare to hear some screams: https://youtu.be/YOztk-EidhE

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

None of this looks like it would be particularly daunting in a fight

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The idea is if they can do this you won't even see the kick coming. The guy shifts his weight and suddenly you don't have a jaw

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Do they have a grudge against wood.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Only they wood know. Yew should ash them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure they'll do great in a war against wood blocks

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Good thing they like America.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They all look board to death.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now those are some lego proof feet

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well.. they are the ones who invented it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They ended with Gangnam Style

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

What you don't realize, much like Chuck Barris, Psy is an international spy who uses his celebrity as cover.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why aren't they in the Olympics?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What impressive TaeKwonDo? All I see is empty practice mats and wood fragments everywhere

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

I don't see shit.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

All I see are boards exploding.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got mugged by a gang of planks once. They beat me pretty bad. Where were these guys then?

9 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 3

Korea I'd imagine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

bot lane

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Haha. Gangplank. Nice.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Making toothpicks

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#2 needs to be a perfect loop.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or make it to where the boards flying away are upvotes/downvotes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not both?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

http://imgur.com/IrgqrFV I tried, but them zooming in makes it impossible.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 anyway. Didn't notice it was a constant zoom at first.

When you wear camo so people don't recognize you as you tear through IKEA's warehouse in retaliation for that Lack coffee table that broke.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I broke my Ikea coffee table last week. T.T

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have camo gear?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...Yes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then I think you know what to do.

9 years ago | Likes 400 Dislikes 6

My first thought

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

It's intended to show discipline and self-control, not examples of real-life combat.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 6

Tell that to a board made of marine-grade plywood...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

savage

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Great, so what you're saying is that demos should take volunteers to get knocked out over and over. Seems reasonable.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 6

You're no fun

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You're no fun

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I don't get it, floating pieces of exploding wood?

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Well, if you consider Newtons 3rd law, they kinda do.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

lol, is that Silva vs Griffin?

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

It is!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Too bad people use guns and makes this fighting style useless

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 16

It's not very useful even if there would be no guns involved. Looks more like acrobatics than a fighting technique.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

impressive as fuck either way.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Yeah true but all military groups do some form of fighting styles. Changes up your work out and hones dicipline never going to use really

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Only ever heard one story where a soldier actually was close enough to use a blood choke on someone and still was a dumb risky move

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The modern us military's mainly mma based combatives system is pretty great.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Mcmap. Marine Corp martial arts program. Emphasizes take downs. Nothing at all flashy.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As a former national TKD competitor TKD is not a super effective martial art

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

Why is that

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Effective striking comes from measured straight shots down the pipe. Also the stances in TKD leave you more open to takedowns than Muay Thai

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Also, TKD relies too heavily on kicks. Bust a leg up and their ability drastically decreases.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

That logic applies to everything

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How useful is it compared to jujitsu

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No world class TKD practitioner has ever made a run in the UFC

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What the hell kind of exploding wood are they using?

9 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

firewood

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those boards get blown all to shit when these guys even look at them lol. I want some to make my own "martial arts" videos now.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's balsa wood cut thin for more dramatic effect.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some demo teams also add something similar to the popit fireworks to the back of the boards for smoke effects.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone in a demo team, can confirm. It actually used mostly for sound effects.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My Tae Kwon do master says they use thinner, breakable boards for visual effect, and thicker boards when actually testing

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

They even had those at the Mulimpia. And your master is 100% right, simply because it would be better if it worked flawlessly

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We used plastic ones that snapped together and had a certain force needed to break them, which makes them reusable.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Have done taekwondo, can confirm. For my place at least, boards for testing were actually hard to break. These are for entertainment.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Probably still pine, but thinner and dried so they're more brittle. Used to do martial arts demonstrations when I was younger.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

What you see here is glorified balsa wood.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You gotta emit even those are kinda easy to break. If it were the thicker ones it might be cool cuzz they keep momentum, not that they break

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Confirmed, demonstration boards are thin and dusty. Gyuk pa is maple or ash, and if your simsa's a dick he's holding the board sideways...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ROK Marines are fucking badass dudes

9 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 2

Given what waits for them across the DMZ if they ever get too relaxed...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My uncle often spoke of ROKs in Nam. BadAss Mofos.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

That's not ROK marines uniform. Most likely rangers/recon & are for performances actually. ROKA use different ones based from hapgido. 1/

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And a lot them develop PTSD just from training exercises or brain damage due to series of blackouts. 3/

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a former ROKA I've heard stories about secret forces training metal chopsticks as lethal dart. 2/

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Doesn't this count for every marine unit? Worldwide?

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

Don't let them in on the fact that they aren't special little snowflakes.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

The only notable Marines are US Marines, Royal Marines, and ROK Marines.

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 4

You forgot Thai Marines mate, them fuckers are badass as fuck

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our Marines in Germany are called Kampfschwimmer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kommando_Spezialkr%C3%A4fte_Marine

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do they kampf schwimmers?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sure and much more.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh. As a us Marine ROK Marines are particularly bad mfs.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Since you're marines, what's your opinion of Irish rangers? I've been curious

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm a veteran now (miss type earlier) but I'm not personally familiar with them. Heard good things but nothing memorable

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seconded as a veteran marine. Not to shit on Royals. But the ROK are crazy fuckers. Wearing nothing but ranger panties in the middle of dec

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Well....I mean....That shit happened in the barracks all the time too...I think that's just a Marine thing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

... point taken... ah barracks life. So many... interesting memories
