I don't always get to spend much time with my dad ever since my parents got divorced, so I really enjoy it when he invites me over for some dinner.

If you get the chance, give your mom or dad a call. Even if it's just to say hello, I'm sure it will make their day!

FP Edit: Wow FP! What a great way to start my Friday. Thank you all so much for the kind words. You truly all make up such a wonderful community.

If any of you live in CT, around Fairfield County, please message me if you need any work done on your home. Not only is my dad a very good cook, but he's also a master carpenter with over 23 years of experience in the skill. Things are pretty slow for him right now and I'd love to help him out.
Thank you!

I too wish to have dinner with your dad.

When I was 12 my dad cheated on my mom, knocked up a real evil bitch, and started a new family. I'm 31, and we don't speak. Fuck him.

Both my parents have passed. I get jealous of people who can still hang out with theirs. Go visit if you can.

Your pops looks like a good cook

I'll make sure to tell him that, thank you!

Yes, call them, visit them, tell them about your day, ask about theirs. Both my parents are gone now, and I miss those times.

I lost my dad last October. I truly miss sharing meals with him. He was the only other person in my family to enjoy seafood with me.

After a cancer scare for my grandpa, my folks have the entire family over for dinner every single Sunday. It's been 10 years this year.

I wish my father would invite me over, but his shrew of a second wife hates all of "his" children by a former woman.

My dad passes 22 years ago next month. However I am making crab legs tonight for my wife, this post makes me think of seafood and my dad. ?

I have bad physical anxiety and hate being touched. I find it very difficult to give my mum hugs and affection. 1/2

But yesterday, I managed to swallow my anxiety and I laid with her on the sofa and she played with my hair. It'll be a cherished memory. <3

Recent orphan looking to be adopted by a good cooking dad.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish my parents would even visit me

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should visit them and raid their fridge and then leave.

I don't think that a plane ticket is worth that. And that's a 2 or 3k ticket round trip.

I lost my mom to cancer almost 3 years ago. I had no idea how much I would need her. @OP is right. Call your parents. They need you, too.

It took about 7 months to hit me and it's still tough. Whatever is happening with your emotions, never feel guilty! We all grieve in time
