Such a cool stringed instrument. Slightly bass-y, slight banjo-like twang, and that thing in her right hand is like a pick on steroids. This calls for an internet surfing adventure to seek out cool shamisen music.
Originally the sanxian/san-sen (Chinese: 三弦, literally "three wires/strings") is a three-stringed traditional Chinese lute. It has a long fretless fingerboard, and the body is traditionally made from snake skin stretched over a rounded rectangular resonator
Love the Shamisen! Everytime I hear it I always think of the film Kubo and the Two Strings. Brilliant, clever film cruelly denied of awards by typical Disney cutesy bullshit (Zootopia)
from the same lady, welcome to the jungle, pay attention to the delay as its not an effect but her mimmicking it?! very impressive! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Hes3FJHihHU
Welcome to Japan, we got anime! We got everything you want! Baka, we know the names! We're the otakus that can find the hentai you may need. If you've got the money, baka, we've got your OTPs. In this land, welcome to the land of the rising s-s-s-s-s-s-sun, sun! Uh, ah! Being a weeb can be fun!
There's an entire anime about a high school club who learns to play this - a classic "sports" anime, but still fun to listen to this new-to-me instrument
I am in Central Florida every few years. Please, I must know the name of the place. I miss that game and have never seen on in the wild, even at Round 1, except for the one I owned.

Jesus. Now I hate that song in Japanese too. (worked in a bar with jukebox and that's the only song meatheads wanted to listen to nonstop).

Feel like every person I have seen with an instrument like this is incredibly talented.

Well that was cool as hell.

Yep. That area she's playing the Shamisan with an ice scraper in is called a "room."

Shamisen, quickly becoming one of my favorite instruments to listen to and love to see new emergences of.

Everytime I see this instruments pick I always assume it's a cheapy ice scraper or a wire grill brush.
CyberHexx
Literally where my mind went. I was like, I could literally make a 3 string diddly bow and use an ice scraper to approximate this sound...
Klaumbaz
WAIT, your saying it's NOT my ice scraper? This is the real device (i.e. pick) to pluck the strings of this instrument?
ArcaneM37
Yeah, I was noticing the square handle. That would be a bitch to hold while removing ice.

Shamisen, 3-stringed instrument from japan. No relation to the shamwow.

Excellent ! It'd be interesting to see somebody try to play a guitar using that style of 'picks'.
TsubakiTragic
The part of the hand piece that contacts the strings is made from turtle shell... has the required strength and can be reset to an a fine edge.
