Never to late! Finished my last education at 35. Was tough going back to school, making a low salary. Love my job today. Worth it.

That's awesome. Why is it funny? Is there a joke I'm missing?

If ive learned anything from having a nurse for a wife, it is that this is the mid life career basically everyone goes for.
winsomelosesome101
As a 41 year old mom starting nursing school next week, I hope to wear that same proud smile a few years from now. Congrats to her.
Spawnofsanta1313
B s. At 30, Masters at 47. Applied to pH D. Programs this year at 52. Never too late.
DarkEvilSoul

firegrly420
Tell your mom I'm saving this for hard times to come. I'm 40, starting nursing school in two weeks. Having doubts. If she can, I can!

My mom graduated from college at 40. She said college was the hardest work she ever did but it was worth it. She had a good career as a CPA
OutofPlaceBlackGuy
Cute mom. Is your dad still around?
jscuster
I’m gonna guess this pic is 5 years old. That graduation hair is straight out of 1988. And it was...Everywhere.
DoctahGhostly
It’s awkward being in a physical class with 18ish year olds but I got my IT degree at 30. Never too late.
PrinceGoldust
A tech at my hospital is 51 years old and about to become a nurse. ☺️ She is awesome, and we have always told her so. 1/2
Everyone, get out there and better yourselves in every way possible. Get a better job, make more money, make more friends. Live in abundance!

I’m 36. I know it’s “never too late” but I can’t decide what the next thing should be and so I do nothing until it’s too late... =/
insomniac24x7
What ever it is, it has to make you happy. You should never hate your job
violenthour83
Ugh, 36 and same here
It blows. I want something different but the idea of picking the wrong thing and ending up hating it is crippling... =\
Stoffel3000
Why don't you pick something you like now and get rid of it if you start hating it?
Setting yourself up on a new career path takes time and money and I can’t really afford to squander either chasing dead ends.
True, but what you said sounded more like you're chasing a dead end right now and it would be time for a turn.
Captlance
I got my Captains License (Master Steam or Motor Vessels) at age 62. I was extremely proud.

That is really awesome. I work in the industry. Not sure where you’re at but there are so few hawsepipe captains in the US.
PlatypusInterrobang
Congrats! that's amazing. Also, My stepdad is a captain of a freighter on the great lakes, you've probably sailed past each other :)
RearadmiralButtStuff
Unless, you know, you're dead. Then it's kind of too late.

Wellllll you could be posthumously be made an honorary graduate

Your sentence makes absolutely 0 sense. Haha. I love it!
Thank you good sir.

Welcome to the $15.00/hr career!
MistressMelon
Depending on the state and environment, most new grads make between 45k to 65k. But the burnout rate is high.
gnarlyfartz
Even an LVN/LPN will make way more than that, and it's not even an associates degree.
candiyr81
No. That’s way too low.
LawrenceJ117
Holy shit where you making $15.00 an hour?
If you have a Masters Degree, you can almost make $15/hr ... maybe with benefits, if you're lucky!
Ok where are you located? Maybe that’s the issue?
WetGooseFarts
I'm actually about to start again to become a physical therapist assistant and I'm 34.
sombrerohorsewagon
My SO just went back in her late thirties for the DPT. Good luck!
redsmerf
That's a decent gig
KuraiChikara
I too am 34, I should have my Associates in 9 months.
NovaCPA85
About to start working towards med school. 34 as well. Must be something about that age. GL!
brunettevoyager
Me too! Best of luck to you

I started at 36 & earned bachelor's before I turned 40. Great feeling and so worth it.

Just graduated this month at 37. It’s rough, but it’s worth it! Best of luck!

Review the salaries. They're continuously changing due to PDPM (nursing facility) and PDGM (home health). Stay clear of agencies/facilities
Who overutilize therapy services as well. It must be a medical necessity. Some changes require paperwork to be completed within 24hrs.
You've really picked a hectic time to jump in lol. Though it'll be far more rewarding if you love it. Reimbursement rates will always change
wheresthetone
Please don’t infer 34 is old haha!
Oh I don't lol
It’s old when you’re surrounded by 18, 19, 20 year olds!!!!
tiramigiu
thing that always puts me off going back, the fact it would take another 3 years, plus mortgages etc

I’m about to do the same...at 44 ?
TheFlo5
I did the same at 30 and I love it! (Stear clear of home health for full time work)
Gotcha. My main thing is I'm nervous about starting school again and excited at the same time
SenorButt
To start out*. You need to develop your skills at first, but I love home health. Just don't get lazy with your treatments
9point3x62
Do some research ASAP about PDGM. Basically the gov't has cut reimbursement rates for PTA's dramatically. Consider nursing instead.
kdoll929
I work in the Physical Therapy world and yes, they are doing major overhauls for PTA’s and reimbursement rates.
Not that I don't wish you the best, because I do. Just giving you a heads up to do some research and make an informed decision. Good luck!
Ok I'll look into it thank you. I have thought about nursing too my wife is an RN she told me to look into PTA or nursing
I didn't know it addresses assistants specifically. All I had heard was the 8% cut across the board for therapy
Mojojojojunior
Most of the students in my class were older and starting a second career. I was one of the few in our 20's.
Regarding the new rules, it's unsure how they will go into effect regarding PTA's. Right now it's an across the board reduction.
Years ago something similar came up regarding PTA reimbursement but it was changed last minute. I've been a PTA for 25 years.
Hit me up if you have any questions and good luck!
Thank you and I may
